I've been away from Flickr long enough now that I have plenty of photos which are new images here, but were taken some time back. Glad to be able to share them.

Memorial Day Weekend 2020

In the not too distant past, our rabbits and I made a few little critters to drum up a little dough to pay for their pet cat’s mounting medical bills. Probably because we channeled a whole bunch of positive energy into them, they feel pretty good to look at.

Then I realized they feel pretty good to hold, too. Their asymmetrical shape is a bit anatomical—they seem to fall right into the crook of the hand. I soon noticed that my hands, when idle, went straight for one. Familiar like a well-worn blanket or other childhood treasure, they’re quite cuddly. Best of all, they don’t snore.

As usual, these little sweeties contain the standard materials: recycled wool, cotton, and buttons and hypo-allergenic poly-Dacron fiber fill. Healthy for both people and the environment we live in, they’re lovely gifts for anyone who needs a little comfort every now and then.

We make Binky Buddies feel good by employing cottons and felted wools. We make them hypo-allergenic and machine washable by stuffing them with fiberfill. That nothing can fall off or be chewed off a Binky Buddy makes them safe for all ages.

Once upon a time, a young man bought a limited edition golden triforce Nintendo DS. He loved the way it looked, the way it played, the way it felt in his hands. He took that thing everywhere in his pocket and played tons of great games on it. It suffered a few drops, some selectively unresponsive shoulder buttons, a busted green power LED, but it was still in fine working order.

However, the years eventually took their toll. One day the hinge that held its top screen to its bottom cracked, and that young man was left with a DS with a floppy top screen. Such a terrible fate indeed. He did manage to move on, bought a 3DS for some reason, and kept playing. But when he returned to his DS games, something wasn't quite right. It just wasn't as comfortable as his DS of old. So he took it upon himself to return his shining DS to its former glory. A few tutorials and orders from China later, and his DS was back and better than ever.

The moral of this story, kids, is that even if an electronic device seems broken, it could still be a very easy fix if you're willing to investigate the problem.

I'm not certain if this is something I read recently or just wanted to try out. I took five bracketed photo with CL on my D800E. I then used HDR Efex Pro 2 to merge them. Most of my past experiences had been using a tripod; this was a first for handheld. The quality of the image amazed me, needless to say! Zooming in, I could see some movement in the leafs but very minimal.

Handheld zoomed shot . Original framed verson posted below. Desaturated and WB in picnik. Natural winter liht coming through door to picture's right. I like the paler version but what do you think?

Soundtrack Monday extra: All Blues, Miles Davis. I was trying to get Rhapsody in Blue, but the tune that is rolling through my head is Miles. Go figure.

A quick snap taken in my local. A rather dark bar area but I liked the look on the girls face and wanted to keep it candid so no flash.

;) please have a good day friends...

Our wii broke, and Nintendo is close by, so I took it directly to their customer service center. It's just a small lobby with a bit of swag for sale, but there's some cool Nintendo history there. See the notes for details.

My coworker Brent has a NEC MobilePro 900 that he uses on a regular basis even though he owns a 17" Macbook Pro. It runs Windows CE and connects to WiFi with a compact flash card. (He could plug the CF card in the front slot, but prefers to use a PCMCIA adapter to put it in the side.)

A few weeks ago he brought it to a tech conference in Green Bay. During the presentations he used it to VPN into his home computer, stream music, and do a host of other things.

The Y2K Family Survival Guide is a recent acquisition for him too. The book is a riot to read ten years after the fact. It even promotes teaching your children about the Bible in light of a Y2K disaster.
