IFC 2 is the iconic skyscraper on Hong Kong Island, and tilting your camera up lets you keep the tip in the shot as you fill the rest of the frame with clear blue sky.
Hong Kong's air quality has been in decline for a long time, a victim of the 24/7 factories across the border in Shenzhen, but sometimes you get a clear day like this.
It was bright (at f/4, this was correctly exposed at 1/2500s for ISO100) and I barely notice the small black dot. It's not a sensor or lens cleaning issue, but instead, a black hawk. I wonder what it thinks of the urban jungle below?
Walking through SANAA's recently completed building, Grace Farms, is a revelation. The desire of an architect's fascination with clarity and accommodation is evident. The building, if that’s what one would call it, is a slippery river of sinuous curves sliding down a hillside. It is more landscape than building. Interrupting this sliding shed structure are a series of volumes of curved glass, delicately floating underneath the warm wood roof serpentine. Each one is a program of specificity. Each one creates a space, in more ways than the structure above. This structure succeeds where others only trumpeted possibility. Here the collision of use and desire reside and are potent against the landscape. It’s an unexpected space, one to be championed.
In the not too distant past, our rabbits and I made a few little critters to drum up a little dough to pay for their pet cat’s mounting medical bills. Probably because we channeled a whole bunch of positive energy into them, they feel pretty good to look at.
Then I realized they feel pretty good to hold, too. Their asymmetrical shape is a bit anatomical—they seem to fall right into the crook of the hand. I soon noticed that my hands, when idle, went straight for one. Familiar like a well-worn blanket or other childhood treasure, they’re quite cuddly. Best of all, they don’t snore.
As usual, these little sweeties contain the standard materials: recycled wool, cotton, and buttons and hypo-allergenic poly-Dacron fiber fill. Healthy for both people and the environment we live in, they’re lovely gifts for anyone who needs a little comfort every now and then.
The street Shad Thames has Tower Bridge at its west end, and runs along the south side of the River Thames, set back behind a row of converted warehouses.
Perhaps one of the most striking features of Shad Thames are the walkways which criss-cross the street high overhead. Most of them now connect the Butlers Wharf building and the Cardamom Building, and were originally used as bridges to roll barrels and the like between warehouses. They are now used as balconies by the adjoining flats. Photographs from the early 20th century show that at the peak of warehouse usage there were many more of these bridges than survive today. My lab did an incredibly crappy job with these, they came back covered with dust and crap, and with blown highlights.
Really beautiful library.
Unfortunately I left my swingrod (positioning tool for handheld panorama) in the coin locker and that the stitching is very inaccurate.

Les Hautes Fagnes and just across the German border was the setting for the 3 days of video shooting last week. We shot 3 + 1/2 video-webinarswith 2 of our brand ambassadors. Now there's 300GB of footage to edit. Luckily the broadcasts will be in March & May.
Good times.
