Seaside, Oregon has a recreation of the Saltworks as The great explorers Lewis and Clark had set up to aquire salt for the winter stay at, what is now, Fort Clatsop. The participants at this site wear period appropriate clothing for the historic time (early 1800's)

The Lewis and Clark Expedition, also known as the Corps of Discovery Expedition, was the first American expedition to cross what is now the western portion of the United States, departing in May 1804, from near St. Louis making their way westward through the continental divide to the Pacific coast.

The expedition was commissioned by President Thomas Jefferson shortly after the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, consisting of a select group of U.S. Army volunteers under the command of Captain Meriwether Lewis and his close friend, Second Lieutenant William Clark. Their perilous journey lasted from May 1804 to September 1806. The primary objective was to explore and map the newly acquired territory, find a practical route across the Western half of the continent, and establish an American presence in this territory before Britain and other European powers tried to claim it.

The campaign's secondary objectives were scientific and economic: to study the area's plants, animal life, and geography, and establish trade with local Native American tribes. With maps, sketches, and journals in hand, the expedition returned to St. Louis to report their findings to Jefferson

While in the yard enjoying the slightly warmer afternoon air and "shooting" common flypast birds I noticed the moon showing between some thin veils of wispy cloud - tried some handheld shots, of which this is one (very heavily adjusted) result. Nowhere near as clear as a "proper" tripod shot set up for the purpose after dark, but as an opportunist's grabshot trial, here it is. Shot using the same settings as for flying birds; most unsuitable for this sort of thing so this has been heavily processed to make it a "moon shot" that's recognisable as such.

Found myself wondering how it can be that the moon always presents the same face to the Earth and previously having noted that this has been seen elsewhere with other orbiting bodies and their planet-centric circling - concluded that it must be that their CofG must be eccentric from the sphere's geometric centre - and that this would naturally be inclined to "point" Earthwards because of that overriding gravity-influence. What other effect could cause a satellite's rotation to match exactly the orbital frequency of facing towards its parent-body?

Decided to do an inexpert check - found that indeed the moon's CofG is about 2km displaced from its centre. Taking photographs can sometimes lead to unlooked-for little bits of discovery.

It was handheld. I tried to increased the f number to 14 to get a huge dof. I could have increased the ISO to 200 to get a sharper shot or shutter speed at say, (1/60) but i was sure that My hands are steady enough and moreover, I was in ground supported by knee

A couple of things first :

1. I am not a portrait guy this is not my genre.

2. I have no idea who this lady is.

3. This was merely an attempt to see how effective HHHR could be for street shots.

Now the ISO here was 12,800. I was using a 1970s Vivitar 135 CF lens and I was quite far away.

Is this a perfect shot no of course not but, this was a candid low light shot. I think MFT did more than I could have expected.
