Finally got out on the 4th of July weekend and had the camera with me.
My first sunrise photos after hundreds of sunsets. Yes I am more an owl than the early morning bird. I need a couple of coffees before having a touch of inspiration. So it is logical that I started my sunrise HDR project during Winter holidays. In my view only bakers and the NSA should get up early. And the NSA should be first in case of suspicious bakers....
This was a handheld shot of a scene from the cruise's stage production named "Blue Planet". How many performers that were actually on the branches can you spot? 😁

Seaside, Oregon has a recreation of the Saltworks as The great explorers Lewis and Clark had set up to aquire salt for the winter stay at, what is now, Fort Clatsop. The participants at this site wear period appropriate clothing for the historic time (early 1800's)
The Lewis and Clark Expedition, also known as the Corps of Discovery Expedition, was the first American expedition to cross what is now the western portion of the United States, departing in May 1804, from near St. Louis making their way westward through the continental divide to the Pacific coast.
The expedition was commissioned by President Thomas Jefferson shortly after the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, consisting of a select group of U.S. Army volunteers under the command of Captain Meriwether Lewis and his close friend, Second Lieutenant William Clark. Their perilous journey lasted from May 1804 to September 1806. The primary objective was to explore and map the newly acquired territory, find a practical route across the Western half of the continent, and establish an American presence in this territory before Britain and other European powers tried to claim it.
The campaign's secondary objectives were scientific and economic: to study the area's plants, animal life, and geography, and establish trade with local Native American tribes. With maps, sketches, and journals in hand, the expedition returned to St. Louis to report their findings to Jefferson

Yesterday the Moon was in a Waxing Gibbous phase. This phase is when the moon is more than 50% illuminated but not yet a Full Moon. The phase lasts round 7 days with the moon becoming more illuminated each day until the Full Moon. During a Waxing Gibbous the moon will rise in the east in mid-afternoon and will be high in the eastern sky at sunset. The moon is then visible though most of the night sky setting a few hour before sunrise. The word Gibbous first appeared in the 14th century and has it’s roots in the Latin word "gibbosus" meaning humpbacked.
