Budda's Hand or Fingered Citron. The unusually shaped Citrus medica is named for its long, gnarly finger like sections, which can vary from five to 20 or more. The origin of Buddha's hand plant is traced back to Northeastern India or China.

The peel of the fruit can be candied into succade. In Western cooking, it is often used for its zest. The inner white pith is not bitter as is usually the case with citrus, so the fingers may be cut off and then longitudinally sliced, peel, pith, and all, and used in salads or scattered over cooked foods such as fish.

Ahimsa Hand:

The hand with a wheel on the palm symbolizes the Jain Vow of Ahimsa. The word in the middle is "ahimsa". The wheel represents the dharmacakra which stands for the resolve to halt the cycle of reincarnation through relentless pursuit of truth and non-violence.

A more detailed explanation

Jain Hand (Jainist Symbol)

The symbol of hand in the lower portion shows fearlessness and symbolize the feeling of AHIMSA (non-violence ) towards all the creatures in this world.

The palm of the hand signifies the assurance, indicating that human beings suffering due to karmic bondage do not need to be disheartened. Another meaning is “stop and think before you act to assure that all possible violence is avoided.” This gives us a chance to scrutinize our activities to be sure that they will not hurt anyone by our words, thoughts, or actions. We are also not supposed to ask or encourage others to take part in any harmful activity.

The wheel in the hand symbolizes SAMASARA (reincarnation cycle). It shows that if we are not careful and ignore these warnings and carry on violent activities, then just as the wheel goes round and round, we will go round and round through the cycles of birth and death.

The word in the center of the wheel is "Ahimsa" (non-violence). Ahimsa means avoidance of Himsa (violence).

In order to get into the lighthouse tower, we had to get our hands stamped. That was to prove we signed the legal disclaimer. We had lighthouses on our paws the whole day!

♫♪What would you think if I sang out of tune,

Would you stand up and walk out on me.

Lend me your ears and I’ll sing you a song,

And I’ll try not to sing out of key.

I get by with a little help from my friends,

I get high with a little help from my friends,

Going to try with a little help from my friends...♫♪

Today I took out the excellent Nikon D5300 DSLR, charged the battery and did the capture above. I had minor surgery recently, thus the bandage.

My Flickr friend in Vancouver, Arlene Gee, rotates her cameras every now and then. I think that's a fine idea that encourages utilizing the photo gear that we have.

My mommy's hands. These hands have held me as an infant, held my hand while crossing the street, helped me do my homework, prepared me food, done my laundry, held my son, and so much more. For me, these are hands of love.

This young woman has a wonderful voice and sang the Nationl Anthem before each starting time during the opening ceremonies of the 2013 Grand Teton Relays in Ashton Idaho. This shot is a brainstorm I started for a client's business card design. She is a therapeutic massage therapist and I thought this might be a good way to represent what she does and the power of one's hands and touch. Then I got to thinking about the power of my own hands...

Imagine there's no Heaven

It's easy if you try

No hell below us

Above us only sky

Imagine all the people

Living for today

Imagine there's no countries

It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion too

Imagine all the people

Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one
