A CDV taken in December, 1874, by Melbourne studio Stewart & Co. The subject is identified on the back, but I'm not certain as to the reading of the initial letter of his first name.
I took this photo for 2 reasons. First of all, my favorite part of yesterday's photo is my hands. Secondly, I feel pretty crappy today and this sounded much better than getting out of my pjs or putting on make up. :P

It was a very good visit to the local island library (tiny by most standards)...there are books to read for entertainment, to ponder, to be inspired by, and to learn. The blue thick book was a bonus. Our library has a section of books that have been removed from circulation which are free for the taking...or if one is inclined, a small donation to the library fund. I always look here and am seldom disappointed. Today I found the 'Selections' from the writings and speeches of William Randolph Hearst. He apparently had an opinion on most everything. But what I see is 765 heavy paper pages perfect to become a sketchbook of painting and drawings....a perfect repository of a body of work. Hands full of books! #cy365 74/365 'hands full'
The murdered man said his name was Frank Howard, so how come the initials on his watch say "CM"? A mystery...
This scene in Fritz Lang's The Woman in the Window features Edward G Robinson and Joan Bennett, but this insert close-up was probably shot using hand doubles - a special breed of extra, more obscure even than the usual Unsung Joes I write about. You can read all about them over at the blog.

I bought Happiness for $2.50, plus shipping. Go figure
I saw this game on Raining Rita's photostream and decided I couldn't be truly happy until I had a copy of my own. A quick tour of eBay turned up a dozen offers. I chose a complete set and popped for the shipping. It was a buy-it-now auction.
I have no regrets--the groovy graphics are so 1970s. I can't wait to put it together and play it soon!
