The pictures I submitted are on the trail by Tahquamenon Falls. The mushroom picture is also taken near the falls. What I was most amazed at was the number of different kinds of mushrooms! One of the times we were out, we met a mycologist along the way. She gave us a lesson about mushrooms! Lots of learning on the North Country Trail!

Photo taken on Cuerville Island, an island off the west coast of Graham Land in Antarctica. It has a small Gentoo Penguin colony, a nice snow climb up to a point, and a scenic inlet to cruise.

Photo taken on Day 5 of our back along the Wokkpash Lopp route in Stone Mountain and Northern Rocky Mountain Provincial Parks in northern British Columbia. This day we day hiked in the Forlorn Lake area and up to Mt. Saint Magnus viewpoints.

We hiked many state parks in Minnesota on the North Shore. Only three of our miles were on the NCT in Wisconsin. Since I live in Wisconsin, I really enjoyed seeing the scenery on the North Shore on the SHT and the Willard Munger trail. I am 70 years old and love to hike so this was the perfect challenge for me.

Started the Challenge last winter on snow shoes with a great group of interested Cable/Drummond, Wisconsin, North Country Trail supporters. We hiked and experienced many beautiful new areas along the trail together. Sunday, December 4, again back on fresh snow, completed the 100 mile Challenge...now to begin the next 100 miles. Pictures submitted below. (1) Sepia tone winter scene. A rivulet on it’s way to Mirror Lake on the North Country Trail. (2) See the trail appropriately signed as 100 on the second photo taken at the completion of the 100 miles .

We completed the entire section of the NCT maintained by the Grand Traverse Hiking Club, all 105 miles. Our first 2016 challenge hike took place on May 6. We finished the last section on October 7. It was an on/off process but we enjoyed every mile - from the bountiful wild flowers of Spring to the reds and yellows of Fall's changing leaves. We were very fortunate to have great friends experience this beautiful trail with us and help out with shuttles for point-to-point hiking. Thanks to the National Park Service for all its support for the NCT. This was a fun way to celebrate the 100th anniversary.

I am doing the Cross County series with the Finger Lakes Trail Conference. This past summer we did Cattaraugus County and it was a wonderful hiking the hills in this area. FLTC does a fantastic job organizing the hikes and taking care of the hikers. Thanks to FLTC and the North Country Trails Association for providing and maintaining a fantastic trail system.

A fun and beautiful day in a winter wonderland. We have really enjoyed the hiking, especially in winter, another one of the treasures of the north woods we are blessed with.

All of my 100 miles of hiking were done in Marquette County in Michigan. I started my 100 miles on January 1, 2016 with a check of my adopted section, Wetmore Landing to Little Presque Isle Point and back, in Marquette County, Michigan. I did some trail work with the North Country Trail Hikers Chapter during the summer months. Then I really got serious about finishing the 100 miles in August. I did most of my hiking with my three dogs; Monroe, Quincy and Franklin. We walked from Lake LeVasseur in the east of the county to Little Garlic Road in the west, and back. Plenty of lakes and streams for dogs to drink from and to cool off. We finished our 100 miles on my adopted section on November 17 but sadly without Monroe, who had passed away the week before. She was 13 yrs old and loved hiking.

Two good friends hiked all 100 miles on the Finger Lakes Trail/NCT in New York State. Saw lots of glorious gullies and fabulous forests. No much wildlife, but we did have a close encounter with some cows. On one hike in Allegany County, we had to enter the trail through a gated cow pasture. As we unlocked the gate several of the residents ambled over to inspect the intruders. We were surrounded. Speaking to the herd in a gentle voice, we hastily relocked the gate, squeezed past their large bodies, and found the trail. Fortunately they did not follow.
