Hiking the North Country Trail is especially enjoyable in spring to early summer when there many flowers in bloom. This year we identified about 50 different species. We always enjoy the Jordan Valley Pathway (part NCT) in June when there are 3 different Lady's Slippers blooming.

This Hike 100 adventure was a great way to get out and explore the beautiful area I currently live in. I have hiked the trail before, but only stuck to a stretch of it near Marquette. Through this journey I have explored much more of the Upper Peninsula and the quiet woods that I cherish so dearly. There are so many places people travel to in order to "get out and explore", but some of the best country to explore is along the NCT.

I've organized trail races on the trail (a 10.5 mile'r), spent 4-5 (multiple times) taking the trail as far north as I could in the allotted time I had, and enjoyed every minute of it! What a beautiful, well maintained trail. Thank you to everyone who helps support the trail, makes it a friendly place to hike, and practiced great trail stewardship!

I've reached my personal 100-mile goal, but the Challenge has proven to be much bigger than that. Because a number of friends in our local area took on the NCT Challenge, meeting the goal was a huge incentive for spending more time outdoors and exploring new areas while hiking socially with friends. We snowshoed our way through late winter, discovered beautiful streams and forest wildflowers in spring and marveled at the beauty of fall leaves against rock outcrops and brilliant green mosses. A few friends still have some miles left to meet their goal and so we will all continue hiking together as we usher in winter. Our last hike will likely be on snowshoes to complete the full circle. What a beautiful trail and a great idea to promote it!

I was excited to complete the 100 mile challenge and actually finished in February, doing most of my miles on snowshoes near Marquette, MI. We also did some extra family hikes and searched out some new locations, exploring a trail section near Petoskey, MI that was very nice this past summer... The challenge is a fun idea and I am excited to see it back for 2017! Happy Trails and Godspeed!!!

Me and my husband have been walking parts of the trail for years now, each part more beautiful then the next. We have completed the trail from Great Lake to Great Lake. We were REALLY excited about the challenge, we started in early April and finished our 100 by Thanksgiving! We will continue to walk all trails available, so thank you for all your hard work in keeping them accessible to the public.

While I had actually completed the "Hike 100" challenge shortly after the end of snowshoeing season in March (and several times over since), I challenged myself to hike 100 "new" miles, heading west out of Munising. I appreciated the varied terrain in this area, the commitment of the local chapter volunteers, and the knowledge they have of their Trail territory. They were a great resource! Looking forward to what's in the next 100...!
