The blue hour is the period of twilight when the Sun is at a significant depth below the horizon and residual, indirect sunlight takes on a predominantly blue shade, which differs from the one visible during most of a clear day, which is caused by Rayleigh scattering.

The blue hour occurs when the Sun is far enough below the horizon so that the sunlight's blue wavelengths dominate due to the Chappuis absorption caused by ozone. Since the term is colloquial, it lacks an official definition similar to dawn, dusk, and the three stages of twilight. Rather, it refers to a state of natural lighting that usually occurs around the nautical stage of the twilight period (at dawn or dusk).

The most popular sight in the Blue Mountains of Australia.

Captured as a full 360° drone panorama above Öyfossen in Valle, Setesdal, this scene reveals the Otra river carving its way through dense boreal forest, farmland, and rugged valley walls. Roads, water, and wilderness intertwine here, illustrating how human passage has followed the river’s course for centuries through southern Norway’s interior.

Fun fact: The Otra is Norway’s 8th-longest river, stretching over 245 km, and has historically been a vital transport route for timber floated downstream from Setesdal to the coast.

Kodachrome Basin is a state park of Utah, USA. It is situated 5,800 feet above sea level, 12 miles south of Utah Route 12, and 20 miles southeast of Bryce Canyon National Park. If you want to get away from crowds, head to it for a short visit. If you are an amateur photographer like me, you will really love it. Standing at the point on the Angel's Palace Trail was a real highlight of our trip. The view from the top was spectacular and clouds played a big role that day, as we got there late in the day, perfect time for pictures before it started to get really dark. We could see most of Kodachrome. The picture I took, is one of the prettiest ones, I have from the trip, just because of the way the threatening dark blue sky looked against the pipes and other rock formations. The rocks and formations here are very different than anything we'd see so far.

Geological formations

Santiago Island has the biggest and longest lava flow, which is located in Sullivan Bay. Geologically speaking, this island is one of the most beautiful and unbelievable formations. The vast basaltic landscape performs smooth and unbroken surfaces with undulations and nods formed by the fluid lava that created the sculpture. It is located on the central west of the archipelago and is formed by two overlapping volcanoes. It is the 4th biggest of the Galapagos archipelago.

The Fimmvörðuháls Hiking Trail is a hiking between two glaciers and a volcano.

It is one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the country and a great destination for people into photography.

The Fimmvörðuháls (five-cairn trail) route is about 25km long including 1000m of climbing. It is the area between the Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull glaciers in the south of Iceland.

The starting point is normally by the fabulous and famous waterfall Skógafoss, and ends in the beautiful green valley Thorsmork.

The longest natural rock span in the world (306 feet wide) is located on the Devil's Garden, in Arches National Park. Due to its instability Hikers are not allowed to wonder beneath this thin span. Hiking beyond this point is primitive and definitely not for those with a fear of heights because the trail becomes steeper and steeper as you go and includes many large drop offs on both sides of the trail.

Western (genre)

Western is a genre of fiction set primarily in the latter half of the 19th century in the Western United States, which is styled the "Old West". Its stories commonly center on the life of a nomadic cowboy or gunfighter armed with a revolver and a rifle who rides a horse. Cowboys and gunslingers typically wear Stetson hats, neckerchief bandannas, vests, spurs, cowboy boots, and buckskins. Recurring characters include the aforementioned cowboys, Native Americans, Spaniards, Mexicans, bandits, lawmen, bounty hunters, outlaws, gamblers, soldiers, and settlers.

Westerns often stress the harshness of the wilderness and frequently set the action in an arid, desolate landscape of deserts and mountains. Often, the vast landscape plays an important role, presenting a "mythic vision of the plains and deserts of the American West."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When you visit Arches National Park, you be dumbfounded, astonished, open-mouthed with the spectacle you can see.

It's really a natural wonder.

This valley is the Park Avenue Trail, one of the first major attractions within Arches National Park. It is a one-mile trail that follows the bottom of a canyon at the feet of some of the park’s gigantic and well-known monoliths.

Canyonlands National Park is a U.S. National Park located in southeastern Utah near the town of Moab.

The park preserves a colorful landscape eroded into numerous canyons, mesas, and buttes by the Colorado River, the Green River, and their respective tributaries. The park is divided into four districts: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze, and the combined rivers.

This image is made from 'the Island in the Sky' and you can see the meanders of the Green River.

The stage as a whole reminds me a lot of the series 'WestWorld' that's why I have titled it that way.

Matka Canyon is only a half-hour drive from Skopje, yet it feels like a completely different world. Over thousands of years, the Treska River carved this deep gorge, where steep limestone walls rise almost vertically from the water. It is a landscape shaped by rock, light, and silence. Along one side of the canyon runs a narrow footpath that clings to the rock face. That path is part of the Matka Canyon Trail, a route of about 6 km round-trip that follows nearly the entire length of the gorge. Some sections are wide and peaceful, while others are narrow and dramatic, hanging directly above the water — the kind of trail that gives Matka its unique character. In the photo, you see a small boat gliding through the canyon, the second way to discover this place. Here you can not only paddle by kayak between towering cliffs, but also take a boat ride deeper into the gorge. The boat brings you all the way to the entrance of the mysterious Vrelo Cave, one of the deepest underwater caves in the world, filled with dark pools and limestone formations that create an almost otherworldly atmosphere. Matka Canyon is the kind of place where time slows down — where every step, whether walking, paddling, or sailing, brings you closer to the quiet beauty of nature. A blend of ruggedness, peace, and grandeur that is truly unforgettable.

A small boat moves quietly through Matka Canyon, the boatman guiding it between the cliffs while a man at the front films the best view with his selfie-stick as the canyon rises around him.

Reynisfjall is a 340 m high tuff mountain arising out of a volcanic eruption from under a glacier in the penultimate Ice Age, near the village of Vik. Alternating in an irregular manner are layers of tuff, pillow lava and columnar basalt veins and loops. Reynisdrangar stacks are a collection of 66 m high rock pillars that rise out of the sea and are of the same geological formation as Reynisfjall. On Reynisfjöru beach, very beautiful basalt formations in the south part of the mountain can be seen, and there you will find an exceedingly beautiful cave called Hálsanefshellir.

This fine art landscape photograph captures the vast geology of the Painted Desert in Petrified Forest National Park. Layered badlands, mineral-rich clay hills, and eroded mesas stretch across the high desert, shaped by wind and water over millions of years. Soft bands of rust red, ochre, mauve, and pale gray bentonite clay reveal the region’s distinctive stratified formations and timeless natural beauty.

Photographed in clear natural light with deep focus, this image emphasizes texture, scale, and subtle color transitions across the desert landscape. Ideal for collectors of Southwestern art, national park photography, desert landscapes, and geological fine art, this piece brings a sense of stillness, history, and expansive space into any interior setting.

The Skógafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland with a width of 15 metres. It is situated on the Skógá River in the south of Iceland at the cliffs of the former coastline.

Due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a single or double rainbow which is normally visible on sunny days.

According to legend, the first Viking settler in the area, Þrasi Þórólfsson, buried a treasure in a cave behind the waterfall. The legend continues that locals found the chest years later, but were only able to grasp the ring on the side of the chest before it disappeared again.

At the eastern side of the waterfall, a hiking and trekking trail leads up to the pass Fimmvörðuháls between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. It goes down to Þórsmörk on the other side and continues as the Laugavegur trail to Landmannalaugar.
