I have decided to show you what is is ike beyond the Balance Rock. I absolutely loved the scenery, as it was really breathtaking! See it for yourself to judge it...

Nature has endowed the relief of this vast rock formation with incredible colors. In Spanish, the Valle del Arcoiris means "Valley of the Rainbow", a name worthy of this grandiose landscape of red, white, yellow and brown cliffs standing out against the blue sky. This emblematic site of San Pedro de Atacama attracts visitors from all over the world to admire its splendid colors.

At sunset, you bet, you are going to see photographers to shoot at the “magic hour”, as the red rock becomes saturated with the radiance of the sun. At sunrise, rays of light break over dramatic horizons. Another day in Arches begins.

Thanks for you visits, faves and comments!

of the lovely grounds of The Haven in Ipoh, Malaysia. Despite the monstrosity of the resort hotel and apartments in relation to the surroundings, I enjoyed my stay there as it offered such splendid views of Nature.

In case you wondered, these tufa structures are made of limestone formed over many years by freshwater springs bubbling up through Mono Lake’s highly alkaline sediments.

Thanks for having a look :)

Driving through the Capitol Reef National Park brought us up close to this unusual rock formation - Screaming Rock! It's unbelievable what Mather Nature has created!!!

Colorado Springs is amazing with its natural landscapes beauty. Graden of the God is in the outskirts of Colorado Springs and can be seen on the way to Pike Peaks. This place is filled with people, constantly. I wanted a tribute photo to this place without any people or as little as it can be in the photos. I waited patiently for the right time and then I was able to take few photos.

Garden of the Gods is home to a plethora of geological and ecological rarities that make the park a prime site for nature lovers.

The garden's red rock formations were created during a geological upheaval along a natural fault line millions of years ago. Archaeological evidence shows that prehistoric people visited Garden of the Gods about 1330 BC. At about 250 BC, Native American people camped in the park; they are believed to have been attracted to wildlife and plant life in the area and used overhangs created by the rocks for shelter. Many native peoples have reported a connection to Garden of the Gods, including Apache, Cheyenne, Comanche, Kiowa, Lakota, Pawnee, Shoshone, and Ute people.

The South Kaibab Trail is a hiking trail in Grand Canyon National Park.

Unlike the Bright Angel Trail which also begins at the south rim of Grand Canyon and leads to the Colorado River, the South Kaibab Trail follows a ridge out to Skeleton Point allowing for 360-degree views of the canyon.

The Valley of Fire derives its name from red sandstone formations, formed from great shifting sand dunes during the age of dinosaurs, 150 million years ago. Complex uplifting and faulting of the region, followed by extensive erosion, have created the present landscape.

Other important rock formations include limestones, shales, and conglomerates. Prehistoric users of the Valley of Fire included the Basket Maker people and later the Anasazi Pueblo farmers from the nearby fertile Moapa Valley.

The span of approximate occupation has been dated from 300 B.C.E. to 1150 C.E. Their visits probably involved hunting, food gathering, and religious ceremonies, although scarcity of water would have limited the length of their stay. Fine examples of rock art left by these ancient peoples can be found at several sites within the park. (From: parks.nv.gov/parks/valley-of-fire-state-park).

Photo taken at Wasp Head, on the NSW south coast. The “star of the show” is obviously the unique creeping petrified magma (I think), which I’ve tried to highlight with subtle dodging and burning. Underneath the petrified magma (now basalt) is a unique feature called “boxworks” (in the lower part of the photo). Iron and silica are taken into solution by groundwater, transported, and precipitated into joints (cracks). The silica and iron make the joints harder than the surrounding sandstone which is gradually weathered away, leaving the chocolate-brown iron-silica joints standing up to make what looks like a “chocolate box” (the term coined by Brett Wood on recent photography workshop with him and Lisa). Suspect the erosion is pretty slow, so should still be the same by the time I leave this earth. Cheers all.

A perfect way to experience Bryce National Park is by horseback riding. I had a few occasions to ride a horse before, but have never participated in a 1/2 day tour on PEEK-A-BOO LOOP TRAIL. The tour isn't an easy one, but I will never regret taking on this challenge. It was so exciting! The horses are well trained to travel along the outer ridge of the trail even when they go down the switchbacks to the bottom canyon. The inner edge of the trail is designated for hikers! Well, let me tell you: it is a thrill, and not for everyone! Fear is the factor! When you sit on a horseback, you are much higher, and therefore you feel frightened. There is quite a few horses in front of and behind you. If you scream, your horse stars to gallop, then the others follow yours. They are animals, right? Sometimes, the best thing to do on switchbacks is just to close your eyes and trust your horse! I mean it! I have done it twice!!! Remember it is an experience of a lifetime! For sure, I will remember the Bryce’s breathtaking beauty from horseback for ever,.... and my behind for years! :))

Otherworldly tufa towers spotted on the southern shores of Mono Lake, California.

The bright blue sky above the Red Canyon walls and the solar reflection create an impressive natural marvel of geological patterns and swirling colors.

When the mind ventures into realms beyond the ordinary, to be met with a vibrant display of swirling colors..

It's like the universe whispering secrets and revealing truths.

Delicate Arch is in the North East part of the park (the entrance is just outside Moab on the main highway coming into town from the North.) There are two ways to see Delicate Arch as it cannot be seen from the highway. The Wolf Ranch trailhead to the Delicate Arch viewing area is a shorter one and less difficult.

Hverfjall, sometimes also written Hverfell (which means "hot spring mountain" in Icelandic), is a tephra-cone volcano about 250 metres above the ground with a diameter of 1 km at the rim of the cone. The crater is more than 140 metres deep, and small lakes can be found at the bottom, especially during the winter season.

Capitol Reef National Park is one of the true hidden gems of the National Park system in USA. Try to imagine to describe this area, with its amazing rock formations, to someone who never saw its beauty before. The paved road takes you for a 100+ mile drive that meanders through the park and there are plenty of pull outs and hiking opportunities.

Red Rock Canyon State Park

State Highway 14

Kern County

California

This beautiful park features scenic cliffs, buttes and spectacular rock formations in a high desert setting. The canyon was formed 3 million years ago. It is located where the southernmost tip of the Sierra Nevada converges with the El Paso Mountains. There are three tributary canyons. It is a geological treasure trove.

The canyons were once home to the Kawaiisu Indians, who left petroglyphs in the nearby El Paso mountains, and was on a Native American trade route for thousands of years. The park now protects significant paleontology sites and the remains of 1890s-era mining operations.

Providing several unique, dramatic areas, and close to Los Angeles, Hollywood has frequently filmed at Red Rock Canyon, including motion pictures, television series, advertisements, and music videos.

Thanks for stopping by!

That's an awesome feeling that goes through your body, like an electric surge of pure joy pounding at your chest, when you just see it!! I could not take my eyes of this overlook of the magnificent hoodoos.

I dedicate this picture to my MOM!!!

The Grand Canyon presents a myriad of photographic opportunities for the amateur photographer. The use a wide angle lens or telephoto would be an ideal. I have decided to take a panoramic picture instead, just capture the sense of this amazing place.

I found photographing Horseshoe Bent quite challenging. First of all you need to hike in for about 1/2 hour, get close to the edge where your path abruptly ends at a sheer 1000 feet drop, with no handrail. Here, the struggle comes with high contrast situation as you shoot against the sun, and on top of that..... you need a wide angle lens to get it all in one shot. We arrived late; nevertheless, you always need that shot, no matter how many of these you've seen on Flickr. You must have your own.

Scenic framing of a narrow canyon or wadi landscape. The towering rugged walls composed of reddish-brown rock formations were formed by erosion over time and shaped by seasonal water flow during rare rain events.

A narrow stream of water flows down the center of the canyon floor, indicating the presence of a wadi or a natural water source within this arid environment. The ground is uneven and rocky, with various sizes of boulders and eroded rock fragments scattered throughout the canyon floor, suggesting challenging terrain for traversal.

Sparse green vegetation can be seen along the edges of the streambed and at the base of the canyon walls. The sky is visible as a light, overcast or hazy blue strip at the top of the frame, framed by the steep rock faces.

The view looks up towards a narrow opening at the top of the canyon, indicating a deep and enclosed geological feature. The towering canyon walls give a sense of depth and scale, highlighting the impressive natural architecture of the landscape.

From Devils Garden Campground you can choose many short hikes leading you to stunning scenery, magnificent arches and overlooks. Just imagine walking up VERY steep rocks, walking on the top of these rocks and shooting the views from every angle along the way. Fantastic experience!

Horseshoe Bend Slot Canyon near Page, Arizona. Accessible only by joining an organised tour, this slot canyon isn't as well known as nearby Lower Antelope Canyon. The smaller number of visitors allows for a more pleasant visiting experience.

Delicate Arch with background of La Sal Mountains, Arches National Park, Moab, Utah, USA

Iconic, classic picture.. but a lot of good memories.

The about 1 hours hike, sometimes almost running, to reach the Arch for sunset... photographers with tripod and big stuff everywhere... but a wonderful place.

Twists and turns are very narrow and absolutely beautiful within the narrow ridges of the Red Colored Canyon. You can see the paths that the water took reflected in the winding, swirling shape of sandstone slot canyons. Venturing into one of these narrow, descending canyons can be like entering another world.

Slot canyons are hard to spot when scanning the landscape as they hide in the rocky, barren-looking desert.

A slot canyon is a narrow canyon, formed by the wear of water rushing through rock, typically sandstone and limestone. A slot canyon is significantly deeper than it is wide. The formation of slot canyons is a long and complex process that begins with the deposition of sedimentary rock. Over millions of years, these sedimentary rock layers are exposed to weathering and erosion, creating canyons of various shapes and sizes.
