A sweeping panorama of Valle in Telemark, stitched from five drone shots and captured with a telephoto lens. Wisps of fog linger in the folds of the mountains and drift across the valley floor, softening the rugged contours of the Norwegian landscape. This serene view reveals the quiet rhythm of Setesdal, where winter’s breath meets the muted tones of early daylight.

Fun Fact I

Valle is the administrative center of Setesdal, a valley known for its rich cultural heritage and traditional crafts. The surrounding mountains are popular for hiking and skiing, offering dramatic vistas like this one—especially when fog creates a natural veil over the scenery.

Fun fact II:

Valle sits along one of Norway’s historic north–south travel corridors, used for centuries by traders and pilgrims moving between the coast and the high mountain plateaus.

Monument Valley meaning valley of the rocks. It is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes. It is located on the Arizona–Utah border, near the Four Corners area. The valley lies within the range of the Navajo Nation Reservation and is accessible from U.S. Highway 163.

This photograph is taken from a viewpoint which is located at the entrance of the park. It is a classic photograph of this fantastic place.

The interesting moment of the photograph is that at sunset, the shadow of the tower on the left is projected on the tower in the middle; achieving the effect of a hand with a separate finger.

Of course, when you go to take this photograph it will not be an easy task. You will find thousands of tourists who want to take a selfie.

In fact, if you look closely, you will see some shadows of some legs on the rock in the foreground on the right. These, I could no longer remove.

Hoodoo

A hoodoo (also called a tent rock, fairy chimney, or earth pyramid) is a tall, thin spire of rock that protrudes from the bottom of an arid drainage basin or badland. Hoodoos typically consist of relatively soft rock topped by harder, less easily eroded stone that protects each column from the elements. They generally form within sedimentary rock and volcanic rock formations.

Hoodoos are found mainly in the desert in dry, hot areas. In common usage, the difference between hoodoos and pinnacles (or spires) is that hoodoos have a variable thickness often described as having a "totem pole-shaped body". A spire, however, has a smoother profile or uniform thickness that tapers from the ground upward.

I'm setting up a folder specially for my pics of the fascinating area in Turkey known as Cappadocia. It is world famous for its natural geological formations, the most well known being the "fairy chimneys" at Pasabag, and the daily hot-air balloon rides. Although entirely natural in origins, there are many old man-made cave dwellings, churches and networks of tunnels as high/deep as 11 storeys carved out from some of the strange looking hills and terrain. Some of these man-made caves have been recently converted into boutique hotels and restaurants while most of them are left empty and unused. The biggest and tallest hill with those dwellings from days gone by is shown in this pic and is called the Uchisar Castle.

It's really amazing, don't you think?

West and East Mitten Buttes (also known collectively as The Mittens) are two distinctive geological features found within the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park in northeast Navajo County, Arizona.

When viewed from the south, the buttes appear to be two gigantic mittens with their thumbs facing inwards.

The two buttes are about 0.6 miles (0.97 km) from the Arizona–Utah state line and West Mitten Butte is 1.1 miles (1.8 km) northeast of the park headquarters.

The summit of West Mitten Butte is 6,176 feet (1,882 m) and East Mitten Butte is 6,226 feet (1,898 m) in elevation.

Los ríos dividen el parque en cuatro zonas: 'the Island in the Sky', 'the Needles', 'the Maze' y los ríos.

WESTWORLD is the name of a sensational HBO series, cataloged as dystopian: a term opposite to utopia.

Outside of literary terms, this landscape is from Canyonlands National Park in Utah, United States.

This place has been the setting for different films, such as Thelma and Louise.

The park preserves a colorful landscape eroded into numerous canyons, mesas, and buttes by the Colorado River, the Green River, and their respective tributaries. The park is divided into four districts: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze, and the combined rivers.

This image is made from 'the Island in the Sky' and you can see the meanders of the Green River.

The stage as a whole reminds me a lot of the series 'WestWorld' that's why I have titled it that way.

The blue hour is the period of twilight when the Sun is at a significant depth below the horizon and residual, indirect sunlight takes on a predominantly blue shade, which differs from the one visible during most of a clear day, which is caused by Rayleigh scattering.

The blue hour occurs when the Sun is far enough below the horizon so that the sunlight's blue wavelengths dominate due to the Chappuis absorption caused by ozone. Since the term is colloquial, it lacks an official definition similar to dawn, dusk, and the three stages of twilight. Rather, it refers to a state of natural lighting that usually occurs around the nautical stage of the twilight period (at dawn or dusk).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The most popular sight in the Blue Mountains of Australia.

Captured as a full 360° drone panorama above Öyfossen in Valle, Setesdal, this scene reveals the Otra river carving its way through dense boreal forest, farmland, and rugged valley walls. Roads, water, and wilderness intertwine here, illustrating how human passage has followed the river’s course for centuries through southern Norway’s interior.

Fun fact: The Otra is Norway’s 8th-longest river, stretching over 245 km, and has historically been a vital transport route for timber floated downstream from Setesdal to the coast.

Kodachrome Basin is a state park of Utah, USA. It is situated 5,800 feet above sea level, 12 miles south of Utah Route 12, and 20 miles southeast of Bryce Canyon National Park. If you want to get away from crowds, head to it for a short visit. If you are an amateur photographer like me, you will really love it. Standing at the point on the Angel's Palace Trail was a real highlight of our trip. The view from the top was spectacular and clouds played a big role that day, as we got there late in the day, perfect time for pictures before it started to get really dark. We could see most of Kodachrome. The picture I took, is one of the prettiest ones, I have from the trip, just because of the way the threatening dark blue sky looked against the pipes and other rock formations. The rocks and formations here are very different than anything we'd see so far.

Santiago Island has the biggest and longest lava flow, which is located in Sullivan Bay. Geologically speaking, this island is one of the most beautiful and unbelievable formations. The vast basaltic landscape performs smooth and unbroken surfaces with undulations and nods formed by the fluid lava that created the sculpture. It is located on the central west of the archipelago and is formed by two overlapping volcanoes. It is the 4th biggest of the Galapagos archipelago.

Western (genre)

Western is a genre of fiction set primarily in the latter half of the 19th century in the Western United States, which is styled the "Old West". Its stories commonly center on the life of a nomadic cowboy or gunfighter armed with a revolver and a rifle who rides a horse. Cowboys and gunslingers typically wear Stetson hats, neckerchief bandannas, vests, spurs, cowboy boots, and buckskins. Recurring characters include the aforementioned cowboys, Native Americans, Spaniards, Mexicans, bandits, lawmen, bounty hunters, outlaws, gamblers, soldiers, and settlers.

Westerns often stress the harshness of the wilderness and frequently set the action in an arid, desolate landscape of deserts and mountains. Often, the vast landscape plays an important role, presenting a "mythic vision of the plains and deserts of the American West."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
