For FGR - My Pet Peeves. (One of many that I have!)

One of my biggest pet peeves is promptness. If there's one thing that will send me into a blind rage is either being late for something, or having to wait on someone, who is late.

Thanks to some key people in my past (one for always being late, and the other who drilled on being prompt, the Lombardi Method - always be 10 minutes early), this has turned into a complex/pet peeve of mine.

I'm sure the waiting on someone else is more for my impatience, but as for myself, I'm always at least 10 minutes early for any appointment.

*Thanks to Carol for letting me borrow his watch!*

For 365 Days, FGR, TRP, TOTW, and July's ABC Soup.

July 2nd - Quotably Suitable for Framing, Brown and Beige Unlimited!, Accessorize, and The Letter B.

B is for bridge.

This bridge is connected to a bike trail I sometimes ride and crosses over Dry Creek. The creek's name is perfectly suitable, as I believe it is the same creek that I jumped over on day 154. Not a lot of water, but it's still nice scenery.

Accessory: I'm wearing all brown, but I especially wore my brown sunglasses today rather than my purple ones that match my bike.

TRF: I'm also wearing brown flip flops. Remind me to never bike in flip flops again, mmm'k?

Praise the bridge that carried you over.

For the FGR theme and my girl heathre's day

*Manic Mondays*

I am currently my own boss so the boss man is the PHB devil that sits on my shoulder telling me(constantly) I have work to do. As an artist, Christmas is a busy time for me. So my days sort of blend into one another. Much like the mess I made across my face. Yep, total dork. Now back to work at nearly 12 midnight.

Manic Monday

♫ ...t's just another manic Monday

I wish it was Sunday

'Cause that's my funday

My I don't have to runday

It's just another manic Monday...♫

Today, FGR gave me the chance to think about what I would do if I had a million dollars. Well, I am choosing to think as if I won the lottery, as opposed to having worked for the millions. If I'd earned the money, I'd behave much differently.

What would I do with a million dollars? In large part, I would behave like Psychochatter describes (the money part :). I'd put almost all of it into some financial instrument, reserving some for myself to have fun.

So... fun. What then? I came up with two options.

Option A - Have some beer.

Option B - Buy a Triumph Rocket III Touring to ride to work every day.

Yes, I'd still work. And why not? I have nothing to lose! Go ahead and fire me. I'll go riding or have more beer.

So, which of these options do you think I would pick? Beer or Bike? Leave me a comment with your thoughts.

Wow, it has been a year of FGR. I started on Day 3, when I announced that I was a Silhouette Whore. I've been doing this for a while.

This photo is a copycat of my pal Dyxie who was copycatting Libray Ann on Day Two.

Thanks Trial and Clem for one of your few good ideas: FGR.

Happy Birthday!

For FGR: Middle Fingers and Work Bathroom Wednesdays

I had court today. Not my comfortable tribal court, where everybody knows my name. Nope, this was big scary city district court. I was crammed into a smelly (yes, smelly) courtroom with at least one hundred people who were arrested and charged with some sort of crime. (I wasn't one of them, my client was.)

And let me say this, people: when you are a defendant in court, do not dress like it's any other day of the week. Do not wear jeans. If you must wear jeans, don't sag them below your ass. No, your track "suit" does not count as an actual suit, I'm sorry. Take your hat off. Unless you are active military, do not wear camo, and especially don't wear two kinds of camo to create a camo ensemble. And please, for everybody's sake, bathe.

Flickr Group Roulette is doing a copycat thing today -- one of the more memorable shots to cross the group's page was Dave's -pesto mortar-. I wasn't convinced at the time... I'm pretty sure it more resembles Mr. Dick Dickhead here :)

FWIW, I was gonna use a real dildo, but hell, my MOTHER looks at this shit sometimes.

You really need to see the full pornographic version here.

I can't make up my mind, but I'm tempted to use this shot for my 365... it would be the first color shot this year... dammit.

For FGR – Well, I have no clue what this is called, just go check...

Since =Tom= is such a studmuffin he's having us do all kinds of stuff, it's all written out below.

3 : testimonials entered for dCapFoto, lintmachine, and mr_moog.

6 : I took this picture, which can be added to 6 different Flickr groups:

FGR - no intro necessary.

Happy Sunday - since it's a happy Sunday!

Funny Faces - I think my extreme grimace of a manic smile qualifies anytime.

Presents Gone Wrong - One of our friends found this glass banana in Netto (a discount supermarket that always have weird things) a long time ago, and decided it was a perfect gift for us.

Ugly Underwear Club - Joe Boxer on the head, nothing can be more ugly. At least not a pair of beserker boxer shorts.

And lastly, Things you may not know about me - and the reason why this is being added to that group is for the last part of the 3-6-5.

5 :

1. I always have a single hiccup after swallowing my first mouthful of soda.

2. I own a glass banana

3. My wife tries to talk me out of it each time I consider shaving off my beard

4. I create weird food concoctions, e.g. liver paté with remoulade

5. My left toenail always wear through my nice socks

There you go =Tom=, with only a little copy & paste from pikespice.

My friend Rafa picked My Monday Music Advice for today's Flickr Group Roulette pick. I was going to skip the roulette today, couldn't bring myself to not play along since Rafa was the pickr.

Also, it is timely since I downloaded a new song today for my heavy rotation. It is #3, below, and has a good story to go with it.

So here is my playlist:

#1 — In a Different Light by Doug Stone

Simply, I love the lyrical quality. This is going on the list of songs I'll sing for karaoke if forced to sing again (which I plan to avoid).

#2 — Samson by Regina Spektor

I asked Dyxie for a new song that I could add to the iPod, and she gave me this one. Haunting.

#3— Wrong Impression by Natalie Imbruglia

This song was on heavy rotation on the cruise ship. I loved the hook, but couldn't make it out. When I got back home, I Googled the lyrics I could remember... which were wrong. Then we went to dinner at Red Robin and I heard it again!

Now determined to have it, I wrote Carnival. They actually responded, apologizing that the playlist on board was over 1000 songs. Apparently, their random song picker is as lame as most, because no way was this picked 1/1000 of the time.

Then on Friday, I heard this played at a local bar. I put in four words of the lyrics into Mobile Google and found the song while still at the bar! I added this song this morning!

#4 — Bubbly by Colbie Caillat

I smile whenever I hear it. Thank you to Tammy for turning me on to Bubbly. BTW, when I did a search for "Bubbly Colbie Caillat" in Flickr, my icon photo is 4th in the list!

#5 — Now That I've Found You by Terri Clark

Damn good song by the hottest woman in a cowboy hat. In a stunning coincidence, Grateful Clem is wearing her hat here.

#6 — Buttons by The Pussycat Dolls

Awesome song to west coast swing or whip dance to. Also, my favorite radio jock show, Kidd Kraddick in the Morning, has their hot girls do a video to it. I'm male; sue me.

#7 —Who Says You Can't Go Home (Featuring Jennifer Nettles) by Bon Jovi & Jennifer Nettles

Kickin' song.

#8 — I Do by Paul Brandt

Lyrical song that I love. I did a tribute for it.

#9 — I Thought It Was You by Doug Stone

#10 — Too Busy Being In Love by Doug Stone

#11 — Why Didn't I Think of That by Doug Stone

Singable songs that I love. I've either sang these or will sing these at karaoke.

#12 — Hooked On a Feeling by B.J. Thomas

A little above my usual voice range, singing this is exercise for me. Yes, I take singing seriously even if I suck at it. "I Do" works the other end of my vocal range along with "Your Man".

#13 — No Doubt About It by Neal McCoy

The first song I ever sang at karaoke. Good for my vocal range, it is lyrical and has easy words. It makes me smile.

#14 — Red High Heels by Kellie Pickler

I, uh, um, like the message.

#15 — Starts With Goodbye by Carrie Underwood

Chick song. I like her performance.

#16 — Butterfly by Crazy Town

Loved this since the opening credits of the Jack Nicholson movie, "Something's Gotta Give". Also, puts me in a strip bar mood if that ever is necessary. ;)

#17 — Black Velvet by Alannah Myles

Oh, yeah. This is also a mood song. Slow, steamy southern nights. Heated passion. That mood. *grin*

#18 — Your Man by Josh Turner

The perfect western polka song. Good for stretching my lower register.

#19 — Not Counting You by Garth Brooks

The perfect two-step song. I feel like dancing whenever I hear it.

#20 — Baby Girl (2nd Version) [Remix] by Sugarland

I just love to sing this song. The inflections are perfect, and I can hit 'em. I have been a voice mimic since seeing Rich Little, and that is especially true when singing. Dave disappears and out pops Jennifer Nettles.

#21 — As Good As I Once Was by Toby Keith

Because the truth hurts.

So there you go! Total playing time 1:16:17 and it fits on one CD. :-)

Day 142

For my 365, for Flickr Group Roulette and the group In The Car,

and for threesixtyfive's As.sim.i.lat.ed | Wed.nes.day theme "Pulp Fiction Dance".

Also for Girls' Theme Week Live's theme 5 New Things.

The 3rd thing you get to know about me is this:

I love sports cars.

I have always been a sport car person.

As a kid I loved Lamborghinis.

When I met my husband-to-be, I was thrilled that he had a Trans Am.

When we got married, we didn't want a limo...we rented 4 red Trans Ams instead.

My favourite car now is probably a Dodge Viper. And of course, my Mustang :)

For 365 Days, FGR, and February's Alphabet Fun.

February 20th - bad habits and The Letter T.

T is for too much to do, not enough time!

My bad habit: procrastination.

I'm a student, so of course I'm a procrastinator. I've learned that I apparently only function best when under pressure, and I have no idea how to start working on things when I have a reasonable amount of time to complete the thing in question. I can try to sit down and work on something, but I end up losing focus and get easily distracted by so many shiny objects... like, the sudden need to reorganize my closet, or picking out clothes to wear the next day, or Flickr... so many things that seem to be more important at the time. Then before I know it, I have hella shit to do and what seems like not enough time to do it in! Story of my life... yet somehow I end up magically making it all happen :-)

I think you should.

For

FGR and SOOC Fridays

TRP and

Workspace Cribs (aka Rate my Office)

Welcome in- just me lounging at the office, Let me show you around- 3 phone lines, state of the art electronics (Laptop, GPS, 4 radios (communications), 2 CD players, 2 am/fm radios, 3 heat/air systems, MP3 player, ice chest, a BED (who else has that in their office) and enough drugs to "cure what ails you"... if you know what i mean...;)

On top of all that, an ever changing view, and the ability to go 130 mph if needed (to escape those pesky meetings or to just outrun the law)- Well, thanks for stopping by, remember that if you ever need to meet, just call- Hell, I'll bring the office to you- we make house calls....

FGR today is focusing on Spot the Loonie - things in the spirit of Monty Python. Well, Sit On My Face is my favourite Python song, so I had to go with that one!

Sit on my face and tell me that you love me

I'll sit on your face and tell you I love you too

I love to hear you oralize

When I'm between your thighs

You blow me away.

Sit on my face and let my lips embrace you

I'll sit on your face and then I'll love you truly

Life can be fine if we both sixty nine

If we sit on our faces

In all sorts of places

And play till we're blown away.

Today's group on Flickr Group Roulette asks us to list "thirteen things about you." I made up a list of 27, intending to pick the top 13. After running the list past a few people, they urged me to reveal all 27. So be it!

This is the first list. The second will come after I freeze my butt on my new (to me) bike.

1. I have never lived alone

2. I grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan. (Yes, my dad worked at Kellogg's)

3. I went to Michigan State University, the best college in Michigan. I only applied to it and the Coast Guard Academy (where I was also accepted).

4. I lived for five years in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C.

5. I now live in Houston, Texas

6. I have two kids, a boy and a girl. They are both in high school and live with their mother.

7. I used to sail dinghies until I went to college. I held the sailing club's Sun Fish trophy one year, and the Laser trophy the next. My partner and I sailed in the World Rhodes Bantum International Championship and won the youth division.

8. My favorite thing to do as a kid was work on my uncle's farm. I liked bailing hay and slopping the pig barns most of all. Actually, I liked driving the dune buggy best.

9. I learned to drive on a tractor. I could put a 3-pt hitch within a quarter inch.

10. I have discovered that drinking an IPA is one of the finest pleasures in life.

11. My favorite authors are W.E.B. Griffin and Lilian Jackson Braun. Tom Clancy is pretty good too.

12. My favorite campground is Dog Canyon, in the Guadalupe National Park. That's in Texas, but you can only get there by car via New Mexico. The attraction for me is the absolute darkness and quiet.

13. I don't have any tattoos... yet.

Hope you enjoyed this list. The next may or may not be more revealing. :)

For 365 Days, FGR, TRP, and TOTW.

April 10th - Booze 'n' Bokeh, Too Cheap for a Studio Portraits, and Cinematic Moments.

HAPPY DAY 100 TO ME! I can't believe I've already made it this far, and I haven't missed a day either! Woo hoo! Maybe I'll have a celebratory buttery nipple shot (1 shot Bailey's Irish cream, 1 shot butterscotch schnapps) to start the day right :-D

My regular "studio" is our guest bathroom. It has great lighting and a long, bare wall that works great for a backdrop. I shot in the living room instead today, with the Bailey's on the end of the kitchen counter. The lighting adjustment was kind of a pain. I opened all the windows behind the camera, but because it is overcast today it didn't produce much light. I turned on the living room light and the dining room light (off camera to the right) and kept the kitchen light (above camera) off. I had to play with my exposure settings a bit before being satisfied with the light, hence the slightly crappy bokeh.

Cinematic Moment: "That was one crazy party. I am hung over.

I woke up on the floor of some Japanese family's rec room, and they would NOT stop screaming.

I ate a big, red candle." - Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

TRF: My dad, Eric, and I are driving to Fremont Newark tonight for a memorial/"celebration of life" for my great uncle.

For FGR and 80s Songs.

The 80s spans quite a changing time for me - from my first love of music (Adam Ant at the age of 9)- through Duran Duran then onto goth thenindie. I had lots of ideas for today but had to go with my goth tendencies as She Sells Sanctuary by the Cult is still one of my all time favourites. I also have a soft spot for Serpent's Kiss by the Mission (hangs head in shame). Ah, that video brings back memories (it's so tongue in cheek BTW).

This didn't turn out quite like I originally intended but I've been looking for a reason to use this texture for a while now so I'm happy.

Thanks to Algree at deviantart.com for the trippy texture and leschick for the grungy one.

For FGR - Instrument Porn.

I can't really post a story or anything today... my mind is filled with other things, like getting ready to tonight (Longtail's Christmas party at the the Citadelle), cleaning house and doing laundry (Since I probably will be hung over tomorrow), and also with some really recent family trama. Just remember, that life is short... anything can happen.

So, this photo is rushed, with the processing and everything, but I like it.

I just wish I learned how to play guitar better.

**FGR Celebrates it's Birthday with Tributes and CopyCats**

We all know that Clem is a KNOB,

so it was obvious to me that there was no one better to pay tribute to!

After all, this whole freakin thing is his fault!!!

And I think this guy had something to do with it too!

Today's fgr theme was magazine portraits, so I spent some time this morning rummaging through the magazines in our house trying to find something I could use. Unfortunately, I tend to recycle most of my magazines after I'm done reading them so I couldn't find any magazine covers with men on them (like this Batman one). But Trish doesn't recycle hers until she's cut out any articles she wants to keep (meaning we have magazines sitting around the house from like 2002), so I had LOTS of options if I wanted to use Reese Witherspoon's or Oprah's head.

Sadly, the only magazine I could find with a male's head on it was some Teen Vogue with Justin Bieber on it. I did manage to find my most recent Game Informer, though, on which Lara Croft (of the Tomb Raider games) graced the cover. I wanted to use the more manly photo, so I think my choice was clear...

And yes, I do realize that Trish and I can't blame the Teen Vogue or Game Informer subscriptions on teenaged kids.

For 365 Days, FGR, and TRP.

April 27th - televisions and Life is Messy.

Flickr, meet The chameleon. This big, badass television just recently took up residence in our garage. It lived with the boys when my boyfriend and his two best friends were roommates, but now that everyone has moved on to live with their girlfriends or elsewhere, the chameleon was left with no where to go... so it came to live with us. The TV got its nickname - "chameleon" - because it has doors on either side that close over the television screen, thus hiding the fact that it is a TV. With the doors closed, it just looks like a giant mass of wood. The chameleon is actually plugged in and hooked up to a DVD player and sits in front of a couch and other seating arranged in the hang-out area of the garage where our friends chill when we have parties. This mutha ucka huge, but it sure is fun to have around!

[see notes about all the messy crap in my garage that surrounds the chameleon]

TRF: Yes, I had to do the 10-second dash to get this shot. No, it was not fun.

Flickr Group Roulette: Low Down

I was pretty quick to jump on the flickr group roulette when i realized it could easily disregard my face today... I do not feel well... at all!

however, on a happier note: I get to display my mis-matched monkey socks... and this song was discovered today and strikes an oh so happy and familiar chord for this time... yay!

I turn around you're there again and suddenly you're gone

I wanna get to know you but I don't know who you are

Your the kind of girl who makes me start to lose my mind

I wanna get together but you're oh so hard to find

I see you when I'm at the Starbucks as you're walkin out the door

I see you when I'm rentin' movies, when you're leaving the store

I need an opportunity, there's something I wanna ask

I never seem to ever get the chance

What's your name, what's your name

Oh I really wanna know

You got me going crazy and I want you more and more

Oh hey this could be something real, I gotta let you know the way I feel

What's your name, What's your name

Oh I really wanna know

Cuz everytime I get there that it's right before you go

Oh hey if only you could see

I wanna get to know you and to get you knowing me

See you at the mall you're hanging out with all your friends

I'm ready, gonna make my move; you go before I get the chance

You know you got me tripping, thinking bout you day and night

But I can't get to know you if you don't know I'm alive

I see you when you're at the beach and your loading up the car

I see you when I'm at the concert then the lights go dark

There's something I got to find out if I ever get the chance

There's only three words I wanna ask

What's your name, what's your name

Oh I really wanna know

You got me going crazy and I want you more and more

Oh hey this could be something real, I gotta let you know the way I feel

What's your name, what's your name

Oh I really wanna know

Cause every time I get there but it's right before you go

Oh hey if only you could see

I wanna get to know you and to get you knowing me - Jesse McCartney

Okay then…on this site www.flickr.com/groups/gameon/ we are being asked to share things about ourselves that you may not know.

I have decided to do this know as I travel towards the end of my 365days project.

Being honest with my photos on a daily basis has been very strange at times as I am really quite a private person…but I am glad I have done this….I am glad that many of you have shared my journey with so much warmth, humility and love. I never expected anything…but what I received has been a revelation in how wonderful the world truely is.

I was born in Hammersmith London on May 4th 1961.

I had a sister, named Jane, who died before I was born but who I think about with love every day.

I have a brother who I have not seen for 7 years. I love him but it’s not reciprocal.

My father was a London Taxi driver now retired.

My mother was an accountant now retired.

I love them both unconditionally, although I do not have contact with them, their choice not mine.

My grandparents meant the whole world to me and I often dream about them.

I was married at 18 and divorced at 20, leaving behind damage both physically and mentally.

I learnt only this year that he took his own life a few years ago. www.flickr.com/photos/lupusphotos/488511290/in/set-721575...

I trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama having secured a place at the age of 13.

I played Sally Bowles in ‘Caberet’ in Kensington London and was personally acclaimed by critics who had seen every professional production.

I ran a theatre school in Battersea for 18 years teaching over 200 young people every week.

I was the first group in London to accept children with learning and physical difficulties.

I met my husband, Ray Russell www.rayrussell.co.uk/ in 1983 at a Lulu concert when I was going out with the drummer.

We have been married for 22 years.

I have sat next to Tina Turner and she liked my jeans....lol...

I have been mugged three times.

I plant a Salix tree and a yellow rose bush wherever I live.

I had a stroke at 34 years old.

I had cancer at 37 and went into a coma when I was 39.

I once took a man to court for wrecklessly driving through a flock of pigeons and killing them.

I had to collect the ‘evidence’, put it in my freezer to present to court. I won and he was fined.

I have a passion for cocktail cherries, rain, the Navajo Indians, forensic science and pencils.

I lived in a haunted house.

I am frightened by bats.

I dislike cold custard, cruelty in any form, and especially dishonesty as I have seen so much and been hurt by what I have seen.

If there is anything you wish to ask me you are welcome…and I will answer…

This is my town

"There is no place like Richmond on the face of the globe...surely a jewel in the Southern crown...fairer far than Heaven." - Douglas Southall Freeman

Flickr Group Roulette has asked us to show off our hometown beauties...where we live, where we call home.

Richmond, Virginia is my home. One picture could not do this city justice. In fact the compliation here does even begin to begin to scratch the surface. But, here is a few of our hometown beauties...

1. Monument Avenue - You have to walk or drive down this magnificent avenue to take in its beauty. The cobblestone pavement, large median in which you can walk, jog, and they do have festivals. The monuments of Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, Jefferson Davis, Matthew Maury, Arthur Ashe. The houses along Monument Avenue are magnificent. It is an experience to travel this street.

2. James River - The James River passes through downtown Richmond, falling 100 feet in elevation as it flows through Richmond, it features the only urban class 5 rapids in America. The city has provided a decent park system along the banks of the river. There's also the Canal Walk which follows the canals surveyed out by George Washington. The Triple Cross isn't too far from where I'm standing. The only place in the world where 3 railroads crossed each other.

3. Virginia State Capitol - Thomas Jefferson designed this buildling. It houses the oldest legislative body in the Western Hemisphere. The only statue George Washington posed for is in there. It also housed the Congress of the Confederate States. Notable people of history from Jefferson, all the way to Queen Elizabeth II have walked the halls of the VA State Capitiol.

4. Oldest Masonic Lodge in America - With the sequel to National Treasure about to come out, I'd thought I'd submit this in here.

5. Edgar Allen Poe Museum - If you're a fan of poetry, then you know about Edgar Allen Poe. He lived here in Richmond where he was raised. The house he lived in is now a museum, it is also the oldest structure in Richmond.

6. St. John's Church - Patrick Henry gave his famous "Give me liberty, or give me death!" speech here in 1775. The church is still standing and every Sunday you can go and witness a reenactment of Henry's speech.

7. Libby Hill Park - You stand here and can look out for miles around you. You see why Richmond was given its name. When William Byrd looked out from this point he was reminded of Richmond upon Thames in England.

8. The View that named a City - a plaque depicts the similar scene in Richmond upon Thames in England and why Richmond, Virginia got its name.

This is my town, I love it.

This Must Be The Place ~~ Talking Heads

"...Home is where I want to be

Pick me up and turn me round

I feel numb - burn

with a weak heart

(So I) guess I must be having fun

The less we say about

it the better

Make it up as we go along

Feet on the ground

Head in the

It's ok I know nothing's wrong . . nothing..."

For FGR – Now Get Back To Work.

My first FGR which wasn't for my 366 of 2008. Also my first self portrait since the end of my project.

It's a bit rough to start FGR for the year (at least start it for me) with back to work. Fortunately, I was working from home today, so I didn't have to wait for the bus in -8°C.

Anyway, this is pretty much what I do at work when not doing work: Thinking. I'm in an incredibly thoughtful phase at the moment, so I'll just spend our sitting staring at nothing just thinking. I don't know if I have a mild depression, or if it's just the post-366 blues.

(btw, it's totally weird not writing my 366 tags all the time, especially on a self portrait.)

The Rogue Players

From the Ground Low Angle Photography

Hahaha several years ago I indeed fell under the trance of the Hampsters. Not a proud moment in my life but then again I'm not proud.

Stop judging me now.

...and stop laughing.

Seriously, stop.

Other trendy crap present in this photo would be the return of the Rubik's Cube (with baseball motif of course).

Happy Bunny which I happen to like still like no matter what people say.

TOTW : Fashionista

But my jeans and Chucks are classics and never go out of fashion ever. NEVER ever!

Flickr Group Roulette wanted to catch me when I didn't know I was being photographed. So here I am, geeking out.

What I really wanted was a 1TB NAS box, that I would configure via RAID into a 500GB storage volume with redundancy. I kept wanting it, but I just couldn't bring myself to pay the premium. I'll eventually build myself a Linux computer with RAID and do it myself, but for now I just bought an USB external drive.

I tossed away the EZ Windoze crap and am rebuilding the drive into a Ubuntu boot device with a 490GB partition for backing stuff onto. I can take the drive to the office, plug it in when I boot, and work without the SysAdmins watching my keystrokes. Lately they have been bogging my computer down with XP oversight stuff, and I have been booting to Ubuntu at lunch using a 2MB thumb drive. This will be faster and more persistent.

So the photographer here caught me partitioning the USB disk using my office laptop, while using the old laptop and desktop too. Note that the 466Mhz desktop with 512MB RAM smokes the Windows XP laptop that runs at 1.2GHz with 2GB RAM. XP is s-l-o-w people.

for today's FGR : reimagining movies.

i was having a tough time coming up with any specific memorable movie moment, so i decided to do an entire genre, wrap myself in some TP, and do an homage to the entire mummy movie genre.

i wanted to wrap myself entirely but the stupid single-ply that we had at home didn't want to cooperate and kept snapping. after a few attempts running back and forth to my camera, i began to unravel.

i think it's pretty fun though.

(but what's with my recurring bathroom-theme?)

in other thoughts, i'm seriously considering returning to film. in talking to people on flickr, i'm amazed at how many people have never even shot film. i love it. i wish i could just shoot film forever. plus, it doesn't help much that all i've got is a mediocre point-and-shoot digital camera. meanwhile, i've also got a perfectly good lubitel tlr, a 35mm nikon, and an actionsampler. between the three of those, i feel like i could be producing much better work than i can with my stupid digi.

i'm going to look into some photo places around here and maybe try shooting some of both for a bit and see how it goes. i'm so slow with uploading my 365 shots anyhow, it'll just make the entire process a lot further behind. but it might be worth it in the long run.

the only other downside is that the major time lapse will be a major hindrance on my fgr participation :(

we shall see.

besides, i really don't trust digital storage. i've had too many harddrives and dvd-r's fail on me.

For Flickr Group Roulette and Bubbles.

As soon as I saw the group I knew I wanted to blow a giant bubblegum bubble. I remember as a kid trying to learn how to blow a bubble and the joy I felt when I finally figured it out. I still get a lot of pleasure from blowing a really big bubble.

FGR invades I Love Paper Fun!

Paper beats rock, bitches.

...don't tell scissors.

Lastly, I finally bought myself a pro account. I got this far without having to do it, but truthfully, I'm honored to hand over 25 bucks to what is easily my most favorite website in the universe. We all try so hard not to pay for 1's and 0's, but to be honest, these amazing programmers deserve it more than a lot more than the people to whom we normally throw our money at. *cough* prostitutes *cough*

Thanks, Flickr.

That said, now I can post fun things like outtakes.

Ok, wow, ready for this? Ok, today for FGR it was Mikey aka DaSkinnyBlackMan day to pick a group which was Jump for Mikey (The Jedi of Jump), Half Nekkid Thursdays, Quotes and Quotations, and it had to be a the Black and white self portraits

Black and white. With that being said I said Fugg it, and I figured one more group wouldn't hurt, so I also did Happy Aloha Thursday - HAT

I think that just about covers all of them.

I actually did a backflip on this one... Man I bet Em will be pissed when she sees her side of the bed is ruined. lmao

FGR today takes us to I wish, which tells us, "Please put what your wish is in the description so we can all have a look and hope that it can come true." The problem is that I don't think wishes come true.

I believe that most of the things I desire, I could achieve if I really wanted. I could be rich if I worked hard enough. I could be lean if I wanted to be. Good looks could be mine with proper application of plastic surgery. In short, I have what I deserve and if I wanted something else, I could get it.

So wishes are reserved for things I cannot have. Wishes are for intrinsic gifts that The Creator has decided in His wisdom to not endow me with. Wishes are not for things I do not have, wishes are for things I cannot be.

And today, I wish I could have talent. Real photographic talent. Not skill, because I can learn that. I understand the interplay of light, and am learning how to control it. No, I wish that I had an eye to see the beauty in that way those with talent possess. An innate sense of form and palette... artistry.

I can't learn that, and I know it. I will ever be the lesser being because I am simply ungifted. I wish I were.

So, here I have a choice. I can wallow in self-pity. I can envy those I admire. Or I can choice to receive the joy their mad skillz create in me.

I choose the latter, thanking Him for creating such people and placing them in my life. Please look at,

Trip

Dyx

Sally

Dottie

These are people who see things that I in my inferiority do not see. I wish I did.

I am freaking exhausted today. All I want to do is crawl into bed and sleep. I don't know what I did to make me feel this way... and of course, we just got LittleBigPlanet today too, but it looks like I won't be able to play it until much later.

It wasn't too cold (it's actually QUITE warm) today either, and I didn't need my hat, but I wanted to control my wild and poofy hair today, so I put it on.

The song that's playing on my MP3 player is Ridiculous Thoughts by The Cranberries. There's a never-ending amount of those kind of thoughts in my head.

FGR: Hiding Behind Hands

There's no way to hide it...I LOVE my dog! For non-dog people, I know it's hard to believe why and how a human could develop so much affection for a domestic animal. BUT, hear me out:

I raised Jonas since he was 3 days old. His mum had a genetic condition that did not allow her to lactate properly, causing her to suffer from extreme calcium depletion and body shakes. As a result, I had to bottle feed him (and his two siblings) from day 3 onward, until he was ready for solid foods. Jonas was my real-life laboratory experiment and probably the closest thing I have yet to experience to raising my own child (which I hope to do someday...)

It's Kendra's birthday, so she picked Wacky Wednesdays for FGR. This month, FGR wants us to pick groups we admin, and Kendra only admins porn groups. So, she created this Wacky Wednesdays.

Last time I saw a cat sitting in a sink, it was this incredible creature. So when my cat surprised us by doing so, I knew it was wacky!

Happy Birthday Mija!

Casper Update 7/22

I have been blessed by so much support, that I want to update you on Casper. First, thank you for your encouragement and support. You amaze me.

Yesterday morning was bad for me. Casper wasn't eating and he wasn't drinking. He had been up all night yowling. Clearly, he was fading fast.

Much of the problem is that he is having kidney failure, which the doctor thinks might be resolved if we can "jump start" his kidneys and keep him hydrated. That's why we are injecting him with saline under his skin. His body absorbs the fluid and he is hydrated. It doesn't seem to hurt him at all, and provides a benefit. We can get past our squeamishness over stabbing a creature with needles, when we know it will give him a chance to live.

A side-effect of kidney failure is an increase in nitrogen, I think, in his stomach. The result is that he probably has a stomach ulcer. It hurts him to eat. He got a shot of Pepcid on Monday, and seemed much improved. But then, Monday night he got weak.

The thing is, cats will stop eating and it is hard to get them to start again. They stop, starve, and die. They have no body fat, so they die. We could see this happening before our own eyes. Casper wasn't eating, and was nearing the end.

But, a friend of ours showed us some information on what they call "Feline Assisted Feeding". In short, you force the cat to eat by using a syringe to squirt food into their swallow zone. The cat will get the calories they need to live, and will eventually get strong enough to want to begin feeding on their own.

So that is where we are now. We have begun giving Casper food via a syringe, hoping to keep him alive so that the subcutaneous hydration will jump start his kidneys, and he will begin feeding. We don't want him to starve while we are working on his kidneys.

If he goes into renal failure... so be it. But he won't starve before that.

As a man, I feel much better now that I am doing something. It's a man thing to want to actively solve a problem. Doing nothing was torment. Seeing him peppy this morning lifted my spirits enormously.

So, that's where we are: able to celebrate a very Wacky Wednesday with a live cat. I feel blessed.

For 365 Days, FGR, TRP, and February's Alphabet Fun.

February 10th - Back-Sight / 背影, What is your Passion?, and The Letter J.

J is for jaw.

This is a major cheat on my part (or is it?) because I couldn't think of how to put all 3 themes together into one photo, so I put 3 photos together! I figure since they're all body parts and are all b&w with selective color that I could get away with it.

1) My back side: this is my first tattoo, I got it just before my 20th birthday. The design itself is not of specific importance to me; I just looked around for a star pattern that I liked and this was it, although it's altered a little bit from the original picture. And I know what you're about to say and I'll just save you time and say it for you - tramp stamp. I'm fine with it :-)

2) My passion: American Sign Language. It is my major in college and tomorrow I have on-site orientation where I will be completing my field work in the deaf community. ASL is a beautiful language, and my passion is to learn and study it as much as possible, and of course increase my conversational fluency. This is the sign for "I love you," most appropriate for the upcoming Valentine's holiday.

3) This is my jaw... the only body part that I could think of that starts with the letter J and would give opportunity for selective coloring. I think it came out okay!
