We just happen to have quite a few balloons lying around the house from E's birthday. This wasn't quite what I'd intended but it had to be a quick shot due to time constraints (and it being bloomin freezing!). I also went and hid behind the hedge to take it as the in-laws had just arrived. For the first time in at least 6 years I got to face this wonderful sight..... I had dreams of a 330 game and started with a beautiful strike and then the wheels fell off :-) and finished this game with 130 and game 2 on 135. Had great fun and definitely wont leave it so long to play next time.

February 3rd - I am... and The Letter C here and here.

I am a college student.

But, only for one more semester! I will be graduating with my bachelor's degree in Deaf Studies/American Sign Language this May. There was a time when I had no desire to obtain my bachelor's degree. When I graduated high school I had no idea what I wanted to do. I no longer wanted to be a photojournalist (my dream all throughout senior year) and I started classes the following fall at a local community college just because it seemed like the thing to do. It wasn't until my second semester that I discovered my school offered sign language classes, and the semester after that when I learned they'd be offering a brand new associate's degree program in Deaf Studies. With pure joy of just finding something interesting to study, I took all the classes and graduated with AA degrees in both Deaf Studies and Liberal Arts.

At this time, I still wasn't too interested in continuing on to get my BA. There was talk that the local state university was developing a bachelor's program for Deaf Studies, but it wasn't near ready to open and I didn't have enough units to transfer to a 4 year university. So, a teacher/mentor of mine convinced me to transfer to a different community college that offered a sign language interpreting program. I was never interested in becoming an interpreter, but I decided to give it a shot because I had nothing else to do. After the first semester I didn't like the program and I hated the school, so I decided to complete the units needed to transfer to a 4 year university and applied for enrollment. 2 semesters later, I became a transfer student at a state university and started the path toward my bachelor's degree.

The bachelor's program wasn't approved until I was at the university for 3 semesters, completing upper division general education courses and taking the Deaf Studies classes that were presently offered. By my 4th semester I was able to apply for the program as well as graduation, and now 2 semesters later I am counting down the days to May and trying to enjoy my last 3 college classes ever.

I'm glad that I continued being a college student for so many years. While it took a quick 2 years to obtain two AA degrees and it's taken me another 4 on top of that to get my bachelor's, I think in the long run all the time and effort and reading and papers and nights sitting in front of my computer pulling my hair out while staring at a Word document and complaining to family and friends and Eric and other classmates that school just SUCKS, it will all be worth it in the end when I can finally say:

*I AM A COLLEGE GRADUATE!*

For FGR

I have a hard time posting pictures of my Tweedles, sometimes. Absolutely not b/c I am ashamed or anything of the sort.

I went through years of trying to conceive and met a many women and men that dealt with all different sides of Infertility. We're a community. And while we're happy for anyone who "graduates" and comes out of it, there's still this little thing inside that stings b/c it's not us. I have become so sensitive to that it's kinda crazy. I was such a huge source of support for my circle of IF'ers that when I was "on the other side" I didn't know how to balance the two - even though I have done my best so far.

I recently shut down my personal blog b/c of that, after about 4 years or so of writing. I didn't want to make it seem I was rubbing it in anyone's face. Even though I know they didn't think that. It just felt that way. I know it's a hard, emotional, crazy road and I don't forget it. I just can't.

So.. a little info on these Tweedles. They're fraternal even though they look identical.

And yes, I'm sure.

They're Daddy's mini-me's.

They'll be 2 in 2 weeks and it's been the most amazing 3 years of my life to carry them, feel them move around like little seamonkeys inside, and then have them as solid little dreams in front of me.
