Ok, im officially a nob. I have just realised that George Michael bought out Faith in 1988 and I thought it was 1990. But I dont have time to do another shot so im going to have to submit this anyway.

Bit alarming that some of my favourite items of clothing (leather biker jacket, ripped stonewash jeans, mirrored ray-ban aviators) are all straight out of the George Michael "Faith" video... Rest assured that I don't have the same taste in, erm, hobbies as Sir George though...

Heh, I love vignettes so much, and when the slut was added along, I thought I would give it a try... but, I suck at being a slut.

I have another entry for this, something a little less trashy looking. I wanted to submit this one also just because I'm practicing on letting go and just going for it.

I actually took this at work this morning, waiting to hear back on why I couldn't disarm the alarm system. Little did I know at the time, I may had already disarmed it, and found out about an hour and a half later. So, now, I'm back at work, procrastinating again. lol

For Flickr Group Roulette and the Guilty Pleasures group.

This was more inspired by my Dad than FGR. We've just moved house and have been unpacking all our kitchen/dining room stuff. Heather (a great stuff eliminator) would pull an item out and say, "We haven't used this in two years, can I put it in the Goodwill pile?" Then came the punchbowl, an obvious staple of any Navy household. But we haven't used it in years, so Heather once again said, "Mom, you are no longer serving punch to your guests. They get wine or beer." As she moved to put it in the Goodwill pile though, Dad said, "It would make a great cereal bowl." And he thought he was kidding, ahaha. The clone happened to like the idea.

So the pleasure? Kid's cereal. Trix are for clones. The guilt? Spending $8 on a box of cereal and gallon of milk to make one dang photo. I tried to get my family to help me eat the cereal out of the punchbowl afterwards but Mom refused and took some from the cereal box instead. Heather wanted cereal but was too grossed out and ended up not eating any. Dad took a bowl and dipped it into the punchbowl to help me. Probably because he has a brilliant mind and knew that the punchbowl really did make a great cereal bowl. Go Dad. And then I dumped the leftovers down the disposal.

April 2nd - Caution Tape and Duct Tape and Your Favorite... [hi tharrin!]

This was the sweatiest, most outrageous thing I've done for Flickr and my 365 thus far. I could barely move with all this on and I don't have a remote, so I waddled back and forth from in front of the camera to behind it, checking my shots and adjusting my settings. It got to the point where my boobie fell out and the tape was starting to fall off so I had to stop and go with what I had.

One of my favorite things is to dress up and play with props. I would've loved being a drama major and making myself up into a different person with wardrobe and make-up, but the whole memorizing lines and having to speak in front of people thing isn't really my bag. But for Flickr - where I don't have to speak! - dressing up and looking dorky is so fun and I really have a blast with it!

TRF: Speaking of speaking in front of people, remember on day 70 when I told you all I found out I'm receiving an award from school? I found out that it is the Dean's award and I'm one of only 7 graduates receiving it at spring commencement. I'm being honored for the College of Education (department of Deaf Studies, my major), and I got an email today from the Office of Public Affairs about setting up a time to interview me and take pictures of me for the commencement program, and then a phone call from the office of my university's president about setting up an meeting with the president himself. He will be meeting individually with each of the 7 award winners and deciding which one of us will be receiving the President's Medallion for Spring 2009 graduation. And, to top it all off, as a Dean's award winner I have to give a speech at commencement! OMGGGGG!!!!!!!!!

I feel ill today. I've been fighting nausea for the past week, and today, I can't seem to get rid of it... maybe I'm coming down with the flu that everyone is passing around. So, I'm sorry I couldn't perform anything more artsy, but when you're feeling as if the only thing you want to do is sleep, everything takes the back burner. 4pm cannot come any faster it seems.

I can't believe that tomorrow is day 200... two-hundred days. I'm suprised I made it this far, and I'm kinda glad that I didn't give up yet.

For FGR - My Favourite BODYPART

I don't think it will surprise anyone to hear that I don't really have a favorite body part. Which is not to say that I hate my body or anything drastic like that, just more that I like different things at different times. Picking a favorite has never been a thing for me. I suppose if pressed, I'd have to choose my hair, which is not so much a body part ... or is it? Anyway...

I picked this general vicinity of the neck, chest, and shoulders because it's where I like to be kissed and caressed the most. I immediately get chills and tingles and all that good stuff when I'm being visited in this area. It's my favorite.

So now you know.

So todays FGR was Hug it out! and for the 365 Men's club the challenge was perspective, I am one known to be multi-tasking. So here's the story behind the picture.... Today Emily and I went to the St Paul farmers market and bought a bunch of produce. I like spicey foods and Emily is slowly acquiring the taste. So I bought some thai firecracker peppers and had them sitting on the table. Emily wanted to make salsa today with the ingredients that we had purchased from the market, and wanted me to taste what she had made so far. She brought me a taste and asked what it was missing.... I said the heat. She didn't want the salsa to be too hot so she asked what would be the best to heat it up, and I told her the thai peppers would work perfect! She said that she didn't want to use them because they would be too hot! I made a bet with her, 30 dollars, that they were not too hot, and asked her to just bite out of one. Immediately after biting into it she started to tear up and almost go into a panic attack, she ran to the kitchen to drink milk and chew on bread. For the next few hours she was really mad at me, and I tried to do everything I could to cheer her up.... I guess nothing really worked so I gave her the $30 and gave her a hug.

Day 328 of 365

Another submission for Flickr Group Roulette. Today's group was Curl Up With A Good Book.

It just so happens that I am currently reading The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman. In general, I'm a bigger fan of books over their film versions so I typically read the book first. My sister mentioned that she was interested in seeing the movie and then mentioned that she had all three books so I snagged them now that she is done reading them. My interpretation of the book is a bit biased by the trailers I've seen for the movie and I'm picturing the characters as the actors and actresses that they've chosen for the film, but that isn't so bad. I'm liking the book and I'm now really looking forward to seeing the movie.

So far I really don't understand what the Catholic League has against the books, but last month they called for a boycott of the movie. Maybe later in the series I'll get why, but right now I don't get it, not that it matters anyway. I don't hold their opinions in high regard and I'll be seeing the movie regardless. It just seems a bit silly to me that a religion that has been around for so long feels so threatened by an implied opposing school of thought.

FGR asked to see our breakfast. So here's mine:

A smoothie with low-fat granola, plus toast of Harvest Cranberry Bread from Whole Foods, slathered with Neufchâtel cheese. It was yummy! And, moderately healthy. And oh yeah, coffee and 32oz water since I am still doing that.

Smoothie Recipe:

1 Cup Frozen Fruit (I used "mixed fruit" here)

3/4 Cup Yogurt (I used fat-free vanilla)

1 Cup OJ (I bowed to my better half's desire and used pulp-free)

1 Scoop Protein Powder (I used whey vanilla this time)

Optional: 1 Banana (a half is fine, but I couldn't let a half go to waste)

I burp the blender to get it started, then blend on high until done. This time, I put away the OJ, Yogurt, and Frozen Fruit while it was blending. Overkill, but it is smooth as can be with that banana in there.

Delicious!

Sometimes that's tough to deal with and sometimes I'm perfectly fine with that.

UPDATE: The BF's heart bypass recovery continues to be a rough one. It's very tiring for him and often extremely uncomfortable. It's hard to listen to him so weak and struggle with basic things.

My update: The tick bite seems to be healing okay. But an additional abrasion has developed from the BandAids. Dammit. *grumbles*

13 things about me.

My second-to-last day on the 365 project seemed like a good time to be a little expository.

1. I am almost done writing my second novel. I'm still working on finding an agent. I write comedies, if anybody knows anybody.

2. I have no idea what we're going to name the baby.

3. I have a brother with whom I have almost nothing in common, but I love him anyway. He's an assistant coach for the strength and conditioning program for the Iowa Hawkeye football program.

4. When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a cowgirl-veteranarian. I have since lost interest in both sides of that hyphen.

5. I have extremely vivid dreams. I usually only tell my husband about them, because other people's dreams are rarely interesting, but I figure it's his duty to listen to them. I've dreamed about the ocean the last two nights, first that I was swimming in the dark and was afraid, and last night that a swordfish leaped onto shore and ran into a building. It's strange because I really like the ocean.

6. I am an extremely rapid (and high-intensity) typist. My office moved locations a while ago, and I now work in a cubicle. Other people from around the cube farm often come in and comment on how fast they can hear me typing.

7. I love to travel, especially internationally. I've been to many countries in Europe, North America, and the Caribbean. I'd really love to go to Asia, especially Japan, Thailand, and Turkey. Does Turkey count as Asia? Anyway. This is the first time in a really long time that I haven't known exactly what my next trip will be.

8. My house smells good right now because I'm caramelizing a big batch of onions for French onion soup. I've been cooking a lot lately and freezing things to make it easier to eat well after the baby comes.

9. In general, I like myself pretty well. I have my faults, but I think it's stupid to dwell on them. The world is harsh enough; don't be your own enemy.

10. My favorite book is Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises. I love that it is succinct, honest, brutal, funny, and devastatingly sad at the same time. My affection for northern Spain is partly because of that book.

11. I am very mentally organized but very physically disorganized. My desk at work is a mess, but I never miss deadlines.

12. I am 85% thrilled to be having a baby and 15% scared shitless. I'm afraid of SIDS, of birth defects, of giving my baby a stupid name that he/she will hate me for in the future (see #2). I am afraid of losing my identity and only being thought of as someone's mom.

13. I really admire a lot of people in the Flickr community, especially the many talented, kind, insightful women I've "met" through this project. More on that tomorrow.

"It started out as gray and lonely a day as I'd ever seen. I'd stepped out to get a cup of the gutter-water the poor saps in this God-forsaken city call coffee.

When I got back, I shook the rain off my trench coat and settled in for another day of frustration. The ceiling fan circled slowly, just enough to tease the flies closer to the strips of fly paper lining my office walls.

For July's ABC Soup and TRP - Addiction and FGR - I'm not vain, just a self portrait artist, and TOTW Lying Face Down

OK, so addictions..... errrr - many. I'll only mention 2 for now.

First is coffee..... GOOD coffee. We buy green coffee beans, roast the beans ourselves & have a (second hand) commercial espresso machine at home. Love doing latte art (if you look closely you can see this on the cappuccino I just made). I have a whole set of coffee related photos (Ok, so we are nerds)

Second is cookbooks. You can see from the stack of cookbooks, that we seem to be addicted to buying them (This isn't all of them!). Most of them are actually used, although we can tell if it is a good cookbook by how many times we go back and use them - Most have about 3-5 recipes that get reused multiple times, the really good ones have about 20 or 30 recipes constantly redone, and about 5 or 6 turned out to be bad buys.

Another frickin' combo for FGR. When will the madness end? Things would be much different if I were the tsar of the world!

Anyways, I played off the first group, RaiNBows CAn Be StRAiGHt to let myself feel like I accomplished the challenge.

Also, note that my mouse pad is purple. Gay pride color. (I read several years ago that purple was found by actual research to be the preferred color of gays, but when I went to find the reference, I found the site blocked by my corporate firewall. Pluswise, the link I'd give you would provide way too much insight into me; I don't think you could stand it. ;-)

But seriously, I am mucho fabulous. Check out last night's fortune: "People are naturally attracted to you." This is, in fact, extremely true. I won't name names, because my wife is a jealous woman, but nearly all her friends want to bed me. Some have told me, some have implied it with such sexy come-ons as "Hi, how you doing?" I don't blame them, because I am fabulous.

I'm usually an indie girl, and have always been a bit of a music snob, but on a Friday (and Saturday) night, on goes Virgin Party Classics for four hours of classic 80s pop! I even love dancing around to songs I wouldn't have been caught dead listening to back in the eighties. It takes me back to my younger days, and also reminds me of when I used to DJ an eighties night a few years back. It always picks me up, even when I'm tired...

The toy that was a real pain in the butt to solve, unless you peeled the stickers or pulled it apart.

Skateboarding really hit a peek in popularity during the 80s, it seemed like everyone was doing it at one point.

The game that made people start memorizing useless crap in order to win. Probably one of the biggest crazes when it came out though.

There are arcades now, but during the 80s, they were the *in* place to hangout.

Although it has made a comeback in recent years, nothing even compares with the classic years of the WWF, and the NWA.

Remember the parachute pants and cardboard boxes we danced on.
