Today TRP is invading FGR and FGR is invading TRP! Also for copycats.
I'm not the first to copy one of Boy_Wonder's photos - it's no wonder, he's very talented! Check out his photostream if you've somehow missed it - he's got an instantly recognisable style. Day after day he produces something incredible.
This is the photo that I copied. I was originally planning to copy a photo that was in both FGR and TRP, but I kept coming back to this one of Boy_Wonder's. I'd been wanting to do something like it as soon as I first saw it. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do it now.
This one took me hours. Not only to take the pictures, but also to do the editing. I kept going back and taking new pictures, because I wasn't overly happy with any of them. Then when I was editing, photoshop would not stop freezing on me! Aaarrggghhh!!! But it's done - and I'm happy with it. As you can see, the background is very different - but I just couldn't get a similar texture - so I just went with something else. And I like it.
Oh - and happy birthday Amadika! Thanks for doing this - today was a fun day.

FGR - Jars and TOTW - Obsessions
Obviously I may be a little obsessed with jars, and beads, and jewelry...a little? These are a few jars from a set of drawers in my sons room that I use to keep beads from broken necklaces and stuff...
Didn't know today was going to be so fun, but luckily it was alot better than yesterday! Woohoo! I was at a meeting today with a lady who was super struggling, and when she spoke she said, "I wish I could just bottle this up and take it with me," and a couple of guys told her she could, which was cool. But anyway, I gave her my number and got hers so I will give her a call tomorrow and just try to be a friend. She has a son who is conintuously in trouble with the law, and she wants to get sober and clean up her life so she could always use a friend who doesn't drink ya know? I'm hopeful I can add something to her life.

FGR asked for 13 things. Here they are.
1. I tend to leave drawers and cabinets open just slightly. Is it because of the noise they make upon closing or because I just can’t seem to find closure or want to cancel any possibilities? Yeah, it’s probably not that deep. Maybe I’m just lazy.
2. I can fit my fist into my mouth – and never realized there was anything porny about that until AFTER college. Wow. How many sleepless nights did that “innocent party trick” spawn?
3. If a book doesn’t grab me – forget it. Life is too short to read books I don’t enjoy. As a librarian (that makes me an expert, people), I give you permission to do the same.
4. Goofy things I love:
Cheesy romantic comedies that I will stop to watch again and again (The American President, Wimbledon, Ever After, That Thing You Do, etc.)
Guilty pleasure TV: Gilmore Girls, Beverly Hills 90210, West Wing, America’s Next Top Model. I can watch repeats of any season at any time.
I love chocolate, don’t get me wrong…but give me Smarties, SweetTarts, JuJubes or red licorice. Yum
Favorite color: red
Stranded on a deserted island: book Italo Calvino’s If on a winter’s night a traveler; cd Violent Femmes Violent Femmes; my Land’s End orange shirt and a pair of men’s Levi’s 501. Barefoot is good.
5. I wish I could open (or just find) a clothing store called “Normal Girl” with clothes to fit real women (over 5’7”, over 160 lbs, size 9+ shoes) and that don’t look like cross-dressing outfits or tents. Shoulder pads are not allowed.
6. My parents divorced when I was 9. I was raised by a strong, independent woman and my parents had an amicable divorce and stayed friends – but I have issues with being part of a pair. I can do it alone but I don’t know how to survive WITH someone else. I haven’t seen it done. It causes tension.
7. My dad still lives in my hometown with his second wife and their extended families. They are all very involved in each other’s lives and he gets to see my stepsister’s kids every day. My husband’s entire family lives there, too. Sometimes I want to move back home to be a part of a big intertwined crowd of people who know each other too well and take each other for granted. Then I realize that it is too late. We would always be the “out of towners” that came back and wouldn’t really fit in. Then before I get too sad, I realize that I know them all well enough from 1200 miles away, thank you.
8. I have little patience. Oh, I’m good with acquaintances but my family and strangers get the brunt of it. If it is any consolation – I am most impatient with myself.
(I realize that is no consolation and I am working on it.)
9. Despite 31 years of divorce, 3 step parents, 8 step siblings, 7 siblings-in-law, 7 nieces and nephews and 5 states separating us I still consider my mom, dad and two brothers my true immediate family second only to my husband and son. I would do just about anything for those people. Stay out of my way.
10. I couldn’t decide on a girl’s name when we were pregnant – despite everyone I am close to being named Elizabeth (and it being my middle name). She would still be “baby girl” if kiddo had been female.
11. I am still waiting to grow up and move into a 2-story frame house on a tree-lined suburban street with friendly neighbors and lots of kids. I will know all about wine and gourmet cooking and I will have the soft glow of the perfect fireplace and decorator lighting illuminating my reading of the collected Shakespeare.
12. I need to take a look around at what I already have and give up on the silly notion of #11 being the perfect life. Cause seriously, that only accounts for about 10 minutes of a life and I don’t particularly like the taste of wine. And Shakespeare is meant to be performed, not read.
13. I am really, really good at my job – being a children’s librarian. I love it and do it well. I make a positive difference in people’s lives and that fulfills me.
I am not as good at being a doctoral student in information studies, which is what I left my dream career to do full time.
I struggle with this hourly.

Luckily I am the one that was gone this weekend. Iraq can wait. But I think we will be feeling the same way when he gets back from Iraq. It's been pretty cool to hang out with Raleigh since his breaking news photo which started our flickr interaction. And then he stalked me on facebook, and I asked him if he wanted to go out shooting one Sunday and we really got along like we had known each other forever. And now we've started dating :)
But it's been cool because I am not obsessed to the point where I can think of nothing else, but yet I want to spend all my free-time with him. I know for me, I have to have a relationship with "God" or a power greater than myself before I can enter into any kind of successful relationship with another human being. And I want to do that, and if I keep my relationship with God right I can be what Raleigh needs and what I want to be :)

Day 345 Year 2 For the FGR theme
UPDATE:So the BF is having a rough day today. He has a slight fever and in pain but is being cared for very well. They had him up walking and climbing stair on his own. I think that is amazing only 48 hours after having open heart surgery.
I hope the fever goes away and that he can sleep or at least rest for the rest of the day.
UPDATE: He has been coughing now for 3 hours trying to get up and out the natural Phlegm build up that occurs during surgery. To hear him literally wailing while coughing is an absolute horror.
UPDATE: The nurses and doctors worked to get the coughing to stop and he can now go to bed for the night. His fever has come and gone several times today.
Hopefully it will stay gone this time.

the day didn't start well at all...i think it's friday no matter what the calendar says and there's been a quite a bit of arguing going on with my dad and i...
earlier today an older man called about the found ad on Dasher...he told me he was looking to get a free Chihuahua because he's legally blind and wants a playmate for one of his little dogs...now, okay i'm not a cold hearted person, but what the hell? how can anyone call a lot ad in order to try and get a free dog?? this is someone's pet, he's been lost and you want to claim him because you're cheap? and i'm sorry but saying you're legally blind doesn't get you any extra sympathy because one of my best friends was legally blind and he could still drive a car better than i can...
anyway, my dad was upset that i didn't tell him he could have the puppy...it's ridiculous...first off, it's horrible just to hand him over to just anyone especially to someone who would try and get a free dog like this...and secondly, i don't really believe the person who called...i mean, it just feels bad and i go by my feelings...
oh well, FGR gave me an excuse to play with sparkly lights, and it made my day a little better :D

I moved out here to the West Coast only a few years ago, after being born and raised in Central Canada. I grew up in a medium-sized city just outside of the biggest city in Canada. I met my husband-to-be (who was from out here) and eventually, after marrying and having our daughter, we decided to move out here. It is such a beautiful place.
It is the mildest city in Canada, we have gorgeous mountains and beautiful flowers almost all year long, there is skiing within 3 1/2 hours, beautiful ocean all around.
I love that the weather rarely gets below freezing and we usually get snow once a year, I love that my neighbours are 120 feet away from us, that we can see the ocean & the mountains from our house, that there is a beach 5 minutes away, and that we will often see deer wandering through our yard.

Ok, im officially a nob. I have just realised that George Michael bought out Faith in 1988 and I thought it was 1990. But I dont have time to do another shot so im going to have to submit this anyway.
Bit alarming that some of my favourite items of clothing (leather biker jacket, ripped stonewash jeans, mirrored ray-ban aviators) are all straight out of the George Michael "Faith" video... Rest assured that I don't have the same taste in, erm, hobbies as Sir George though...

Heh, I love vignettes so much, and when the slut was added along, I thought I would give it a try... but, I suck at being a slut.
I have another entry for this, something a little less trashy looking. I wanted to submit this one also just because I'm practicing on letting go and just going for it.
I actually took this at work this morning, waiting to hear back on why I couldn't disarm the alarm system. Little did I know at the time, I may had already disarmed it, and found out about an hour and a half later. So, now, I'm back at work, procrastinating again. lol
I love having a remote too... :D

This was more inspired by my Dad than FGR. We've just moved house and have been unpacking all our kitchen/dining room stuff. Heather (a great stuff eliminator) would pull an item out and say, "We haven't used this in two years, can I put it in the Goodwill pile?" Then came the punchbowl, an obvious staple of any Navy household. But we haven't used it in years, so Heather once again said, "Mom, you are no longer serving punch to your guests. They get wine or beer." As she moved to put it in the Goodwill pile though, Dad said, "It would make a great cereal bowl." And he thought he was kidding, ahaha. The clone happened to like the idea.
So the pleasure? Kid's cereal. Trix are for clones. The guilt? Spending $8 on a box of cereal and gallon of milk to make one dang photo. I tried to get my family to help me eat the cereal out of the punchbowl afterwards but Mom refused and took some from the cereal box instead. Heather wanted cereal but was too grossed out and ended up not eating any. Dad took a bowl and dipped it into the punchbowl to help me. Probably because he has a brilliant mind and knew that the punchbowl really did make a great cereal bowl. Go Dad. And then I dumped the leftovers down the disposal.
April 2nd - Caution Tape and Duct Tape and Your Favorite... [hi tharrin!]

This was the sweatiest, most outrageous thing I've done for Flickr and my 365 thus far. I could barely move with all this on and I don't have a remote, so I waddled back and forth from in front of the camera to behind it, checking my shots and adjusting my settings. It got to the point where my boobie fell out and the tape was starting to fall off so I had to stop and go with what I had.
One of my favorite things is to dress up and play with props. I would've loved being a drama major and making myself up into a different person with wardrobe and make-up, but the whole memorizing lines and having to speak in front of people thing isn't really my bag. But for Flickr - where I don't have to speak! - dressing up and looking dorky is so fun and I really have a blast with it!
TRF: Speaking of speaking in front of people, remember on day 70 when I told you all I found out I'm receiving an award from school? I found out that it is the Dean's award and I'm one of only 7 graduates receiving it at spring commencement. I'm being honored for the College of Education (department of Deaf Studies, my major), and I got an email today from the Office of Public Affairs about setting up a time to interview me and take pictures of me for the commencement program, and then a phone call from the office of my university's president about setting up an meeting with the president himself. He will be meeting individually with each of the 7 award winners and deciding which one of us will be receiving the President's Medallion for Spring 2009 graduation. And, to top it all off, as a Dean's award winner I have to give a speech at commencement! OMGGGGG!!!!!!!!!

Don't you hate it when you have people walk in on you while you're trying to use the toilet? Maybe it's my fault and I should check to make sure the door is locked before I start my personal business. ;)
I feel ill today. I've been fighting nausea for the past week, and today, I can't seem to get rid of it... maybe I'm coming down with the flu that everyone is passing around. So, I'm sorry I couldn't perform anything more artsy, but when you're feeling as if the only thing you want to do is sleep, everything takes the back burner. 4pm cannot come any faster it seems.
I can't believe that tomorrow is day 200... two-hundred days. I'm suprised I made it this far, and I'm kinda glad that I didn't give up yet.

For FGR - My Favourite BODYPART
I don't think it will surprise anyone to hear that I don't really have a favorite body part. Which is not to say that I hate my body or anything drastic like that, just more that I like different things at different times. Picking a favorite has never been a thing for me. I suppose if pressed, I'd have to choose my hair, which is not so much a body part ... or is it? Anyway...
I picked this general vicinity of the neck, chest, and shoulders because it's where I like to be kissed and caressed the most. I immediately get chills and tingles and all that good stuff when I'm being visited in this area. It's my favorite.
So now you know.
