The Pontiac GTO is an automobile built by Pontiac Division of General Motors in the United States from 1964 to 1974, and by GM subsidiary Holden in Australia from 2004 to 2006. It is considered an innovative, and now classic muscle car of the 1960s and 1970s. From 1964 until midway through 1973 it was closely related to the Pontiac Tempest/LeMans and for the 1974 model year it was based on the Pontiac Ventura. The 21st century GTO is essentially a left-hand drive Holden Monaro, itself a coupe variant of the Holden Commodore.
Introduced in 1964, the GTO was basically a violation of GM policy limiting the A-body intermediate line to a maximum engine displacement of 330 cu in (5.4 L). Since the GTO was an option package (initially for the Pontiac LeMans) and not standard equipment, it could be considered to fall into a loophole in the policy. Pontiac General Manager Elliot "Pete" Estes approved the new model, although sales manager Frank Bridge, who did not believe it would find a market, insisted on limiting initial production to no more than 5,000 cars. As it turned out, it was a great success.

Au cours de ces 20 minutes , Bill Collins et Russ Gee ont assembler un moteur V-8 389 ci dans un châssis Tempest .
Ils ont créé le prototype de la GTO de Pontiac et ont changé le cours de l'histoire de l'automobile
À partir de ce moment, les voitures de performance américaines ne seront plus jamais les mêmes .

This '68 GTO has the "delete option" chrome bumper from the Tempest and LeMans models instead of the usual body-color Endura bumper newly introduced that year.
On 8 April 2010, Ferrari announced official details of the 599 GTO.[8] The car is a road-going version of the 599XX and Ferrari say the 599 GTO is their fastest road car ever, able to lap the Fiorano test circuit in 1 minute 24 seconds, one second faster than the Ferrari Enzo. Its engine produces 670 PS (493 kW; 661 bhp) at 8250 rpm, with 620 N·m (460 lb·ft) of torque at 6500 rpm.[9] Ferrari claims the 599 GTO can reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 3.35 seconds and has a top speed of over 335 km/h (208 mph).[9] At 1,590 kilograms (3,500 lb), the 599 GTO weighs 100 kg (220 lb) less than the standard GTB.[10] Production will be limited to 599 cars.
Ferrari has given only two other models the GTO designation: the 1962 250 GTO and the 1984 288 GTO.[11] Unlike the previous GTO's however, the 599 GTO was not designed for homologation in any racing series.

This picture was taken while playing Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition. I was very much impressed by the way the picture turned out. The GTO sounded great too.

Crazy GTO at Cars and Coffee at Aston Martin of New England. Owner was really cool and revved it a lot and floored it down the road! Video is on youtube!

Looks like a silver fibreglass 308 behind it too. Much better value for money. I keep trying to work out if anyone famous is in the photos. Not that I'd have noticed at the time...
There has to be some rockstars in these pics somewhere. I swear I saw Eric Clapton at the Iggy & The Stooges show in London a few years back.
