This video shows a wintry, stormy, hazardous drive home from Reno. Fun stuff! This was during my spontaneous, snowy Reno outing with my cousin & her coworker Eugene... Here's our trip in summary: We left early Sunday morning (Feb 19). After taking in the beautiful snowy views along the way, we arrived at our Best Western Plus Boomtown Casino Hotel. For lunch, we ate at the lobster buffet there. After eating, we explored around Reno & stopped at the Wingfield Park. We then called it a day... After a sleepless evening (since I didn't have a bed), we headed home the very next morning, but things got interesting. Heavy snow was encountered on the way. We even got stranded around Truckee (by Donner Lake along Donner Pass Rd) since my cousin forgot her keys in the trunk when we were putting snow chains! After 2 chilling hours (while at the same time calling for help), we finally managed to open the back seat to get in the trunk. We then proceeded along I-80 slowly thru the whiteout conditions & finally got down the mountains safely, though plentiful rain continued to fall as we got back home... Drive safe out there, guys. A powerful Pacific storm had moved thru NorCal overnight Sunday & was expected to impact the region thru Tuesday. The storm was to bring copious rainfall, heavy mountain snow and strong winds to the state. This winter has been quite active for atmospheric rivers in the West. Certainly, this season had knocked out the 5-year drought gripping the state. Also, much of the Sierras saw its rainiest/snowiest October-February period on record! "Heavy snow was to create dangerous conditions, with travel being severely impacted over the Sierra passes, including I-80," according to NWS. The snow amounts in the Sierras are mind–boggling; in many cases topping 500 inches which are some of the highest totals in memory... Farewell to our long years of drought!

Now for the fun stuff! I mapped in all of the Allsorts with a basic wash. Notice the blacks aren't solid black as we need to show some shadow and shape.
I am excited! My husband ordered me a bunch of new toys! Our cameras (2 Canon EOS 5D Mark II's) won't arrive for a few weeks, but I can wait because I have plenty to play with for now.

UPDATE: Many of you are wondering how we got all of this equipment at once. We just bought a house and we got the $8,000 first home buyer tax credit along with a second tax return (our "normal" return).
We haven't fully closed on the house so we got a personal loan for the money from a bank (0% interest for 1 year with no penalty for paying it off in a year). Basically we just wanted to get that $400 rebate from Canon that ends today.
