It is owned by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, according to parcel data from the GIS office of the City of Beaumont, and presumably is filled with telephone switching equipment. I cannot find any evidence on the internet of the building having a name other than 220 Main Street; nor can I find any funfacts such as Erection Year.

A google search of the address turns up a bunch of very poor-quality business directory websites ("yellowpages.com," "superpages.com", "usplaces.com," "usbizplace.com," "getfave.com," "hoursofoperation.biz," "thewebmap.com," "texas-businessdirectory.com," "us.justdial.com," etc. — garbage websites!) that erroneously list 220 Main Street in Beaumont as the address of an array of small businesses ("Orthotics & Prosthetics Techniques," "Nelson Architectural Engineers," "Dugas Clay Attorney," "Alpha Communications," "Texas Siding Co.," "Bass Billy," "Bean David," "Complete Homecare Service.") The sites' botched and spoiled databases contain telephone numbers formerly associated with particular businesses, numbers that in present-day reality are no longer associated with any entities other than the local telephone company, the address of which — 220 Main St in Beaumont — is then assigned to those businesses for public display. Stupid!

#tbt to our old fish exhibit by the stairs! Though all of our animals are real, almost all of our fish are replicas because it is difficult to preserve their skin without it loosing size and color. Saltwater fish are almost always recreated using entirely man-made materials. A mold of the fresh catch is made and then cast in polyester resin that contains fiberglass. Then the taxidermist carefully recreates the coloration of the fish by painting each scale from head to tail to match a photograph. #good2know #funfact #comeseeourfish #beanmuseum

Funfact! Per G. Streetview, the building's color scheme of light-brown-with-dark-brown-trim dates to 2017, and replaced a color scheme of beige-with-red-trim.

Today's #WordOfTheDay is apophenia, which comes from German Apophänie, from Greek apo- (away, off, apart) + phainein (to show). Apophenia is the general term—pareidolia is an example of apophenia.

Some examples are shapes you may see in the clouds (left), the "organ player" in Neptune's Grotto (middle), or "the face on Mars" seen in Nasa's Viking photos (right).

☞ FunFacts: Beavers eat the bark and spit the chips. –•– "They are the largest rodents (gnawing animals) in the world except for the capybara of South America. Unlike most other kinds of mammals, beavers keep growing throughout their lives. Most beavers look larger than they really are because of their humped backs and thick fur. Thousands of years ago, some beavers of North America were about 7 1/2 feet (2.3 meters) long, including the tail--almost as long as the grizzly bears. No one knows why these huge beavers disappeared." – from WorldBook's excellent summary.

And get this: an average beaver can cut down as many as 200 trees a year !

Quote from Garrett's instagram: It's #mhmonday!! And here's everyone's favorite #zombieghoul #GhouliaYelps!! And her pet owl #SirHootsALot . Ghoulia was designed with the rest of the first wave, which is why she was in the original webisodes too! So it was so fun to see the fan reaction to her knowing she'd be coming along the next season!!! She released in spring of 2011 (which meant she was out right before Xmas 2010). #funfact: Ghoulia is named after one of my co-workers who helped work on the original Monster High Pitch: Julia Phelps! Another fun fact: Sir Hoots A Lot's original name was Brains, we were going to have that be the only word Ghoulia would say - like old times zombies - but that name was already trademarked so Sir Hoots A Lot was born! In the end it made Ghoulia a better character not saying any words. I do love her so much! I love her style, getting to put her in comic inspired clothes later on to continue to show geek shriek style was always so fun! The last pic is Ghoulia from the Monster High 6 pack where we re-released the Ghouls in their original looks! There will definitely be more Ghoulia showing up in future mhmondays!!

Ice caves are temporary structures that appear at the edge of glaciers. They look amazingly beautiful from the inside. This particular cave is located on the frozen lagoon of the Svínafellsjökull glacier in Skaftafell, Iceland. The centuries old ice coming down the slopes of Öræfajökull via Svínafellsjökull glacier has metamorphosed into highly pressurized glacier ice that contains almost no air bubbles. The lack of air means that it absorbs almost all visible light, apart from the blue fraction which is then visible to the naked eye. However, this blue ice can be seen only under certain circumstances. It can be seen in winter after long periods of rain when the surface layer of the glacier has been washed away. It can be seen in ice-caves like this one and on floating icebergs that have recently rolled over.

Today's word is magdalene (also spelled "magdalen"). This word comes from Mary Magdalene, a Biblical character who was a follower of Jesus.

The name Magdalene means “of Magdala” in Greek and is derived after a town on the Sea of Galilee. The name Magdala, in turn, means a tower in Aramaic. So here we have a word coined after a person, who was named after a place, which was named after a thing. The word is also used for a home for reformed/retired prostitutes. Magdalene has given birth to another eponym, maudlin meaning “overly sentimental”.

Pope Gregory I, in a sermon delivered in 581 CE, conflated an unnamed “sinner” with Mary Magdalene. Pope Paul VI fixed the error in 1969, but the damage was done. Mary Magdalene forever remains identified as a former prostitute in popular culture. It took them 1,388 years to acknowledge the error. In comparison, Galileo got off easy. The Church took a mere 359 years to say that he was right after all.

So much for ex cathedra! Religion, fighting reality, since, well ... forever.

Recently came across this subtitle, "Muzak playing in the background", while watching a Netflix film. I thought it was a music artist, but as it turns out, it's a whole genre of (non)music! So if you find yourself feeling relaxed while going up an elevator, or experience that fuzzy feeling while grocery shopping - it's Muzak.

Fun fact: This term was coined by clubbing the words Music + "ak" from "Kodak".

(funfact: does not look different if not seen from a BMW)
