October 24 is World Kangaroo Day. Lehigh Valley Zoo is celebrating on social media by sharing fun facts about kangaroos. Here's a photo I haven't turned in yet, but a staff member will have it in-hand, on a flash drive, later this morning!
One of the fun facts the zoo posted is a list of the roos' favorite enrichment. They enjoy streamers hanging in their habitat, food hidden in paper bags, and browse (leafy branches)!
Browse that's popular among the red kangaroos includes sugar maple, bamboo, and Acacia.
Happy World Kangaroo Day!

only some studs bigger than my old model of 2019 but this one comes with a lot updates and features a complete new covering.
It took about 2 years on an off working on this one.
This time I tried to get as close as possible to the circle form
and I tried to close most of the gabs on the covering.
The model features many ucs styled details within a scale that fits on every shelf.
Due to the system scale the proportions are still a bit bulk. therefore it has a full interior!
The model is more strength now. E.g. the cover slices can be fixed in position.
Still this is more a display model than play model.
I tried to built the instructions as much understandable as possible. But as I am a not the best practiced builder, there can be tough sections here and there.

As the Bastø Ferry sails away from Moss, the city stretches along the coastline, embraced by the dramatic evening sky. The rippling waters of the Oslofjord reflect the soft hues of the setting sun, while the marina and modern waterfront developments highlight the town’s blend of history and progress.
Once an industrial stronghold, Moss is now a thriving cultural and residential hub, known for its artistic spirit, maritime heritage, and scenic surroundings. Across the fjord lies Horten, the ferry’s destination, continuing a journey that has connected the east and west shores for generations.
Some funfacts:
🔹 The Paper Town – Moss was once home to one of Norway’s largest paper mills, shaping the city's industrial identity for centuries.
🔹 The Moss Convention – In 1814, an important peace agreement was signed here, securing Norway’s union with Sweden after a brief war.
🔹 Moss as an Art Destination – Today, Moss embraces its creative side, hosting Galleri F15 and the Momentum biennale, one of the leading contemporary art exhibitions in Scandinavia.
🔹 Island Getaways – Just offshore lies Jeløya, an idyllic island known for its lush nature, hiking trails, and cultural heritage.
🔹 Fjord Connection – The Bastø Ferry is Norway’s busiest inland ferry route, linking Moss and Horten across the Oslofjord with over 3.8 million passengers annually.

A panoramic drone view over the outer Oslofjord near Drøbaksundet, featuring the iconic Filtvet Lighthouse (Filtvet fyr) perched on the rocky edge of Hurumlandet. Since 1840, this coastal beacon has guided ships sailing through the busy fjord toward Oslo. Today, it's one of the most picturesque lighthouses in Eastern Norway.
Looking inland from the outer Oslofjord, this panorama reveals the charming village of Filtvet nestled in lush greenery, with its historic lighthouse marking one of the fjord’s narrow points near Drøbak. A striking contrast between sea, sky, and land.
Funfacts:
Filtvet Lighthouse was automated in 1985 and is now a popular photo spot and cultural venue — even hosting art exhibitions and summer concerts.
The Oslofjord isn't technically a fjord by geological standards — it's a glacially carved inlet — but don't tell the Norwegians that!
On very clear days, ships entering this part of the fjord can navigate by aligning the light from Filtvet with that of nearby lighthouses — a classic coastal triangulation technique.
During World War II, the Oslofjord — including areas around Filtvet — played a key role in the German invasion of Norway, with strategic control over the waterway proving decisive.

A statue of my neighbour that passed away early January 2021. Made by her husband some 50 years ago when she was pregnant of her second son.
The statue has been damaged and sprayed with grafitti and is now placed in a forgotten spot with hidious light. To me this is a good memory though, as my neighbour was always kind to me and whenever I entered her house she always started with "I am grateful that..."

• An ostrich’s eye is almost 2 inches (5 centimeters) across, the largest eye of any land animal.
• When family groups of ostriches meet, they may challenge each other with short chases, then the winning adult pair takes all the chicks with them. Some of these "ostrich nurseries" can end up with 300 chicks and only a couple of adults to look after them all!
• One ostrich egg is equivalent to the weight of about 24 chicken eggs!
• Ostriches are attracted to small, shiny objects and peck curiously at them.
. Average lifespan 30 to 40 years
. Ostriches can run up to 70 km/hr (40 mph)

SU45-092 from depot Poznań with a set of double-decker wagons and yet another one first-class wagon, as a regional passenger train no. 57144 from Bydgoszcz Główna to Poznań Główny, is leaving Szubin, passing by a three-way forewarning signal to the entry semaphore. Twilight on May 16, 1999.
Freight traffic from Bydgoszcz to Szubin exists, but no further till Kcynia for over 10 years. Funfact: at that time, it was possible to travel the route from Hel to Żary (via Kościerzyna, Wągrowiec, Wolsztyn, Leszno, Głogów) using only diesel-hauled passenger trains.

Poznańska SU45-092 z zestawem wagonów piętrowych i jednym wagonem pierwszej klasy, jako pociąg osobowy nr 57144 z Bydgoszczy Głównej do Poznania Głównego, opuszcza Szubin, mijając trójstawną tarczę ostrzegawczą do semafora wjazdowego. Zmierzch 16 maja 1999 roku.

BR232-500 owned by Cargounit and operated by Ciech Cargo, a railway operator of Ciech SA., in the service of Wapienno - Inowrocław Chemia limestone train, has left the last elevation down on the line no. 206 and after passing two large curves in the village of Kościelec Kujawski will enter the Dziarnowo junction, where it crosses the mainline no. 353 and continues to Inowrocław Rąbinek.
Limestone is - next to sodium chloride, i.e. usual salt - the basic raw material for the production of soda, one of the most important semi-finished products of inorganic chemistry. In the production of soda ash, limestone is burnt, and then the resulting calcium oxide reacts with sodium chloride with the participation of ammonia (carbonization of ammonia brine). The next step is calcination, when the previously formed sodium bicarbonate is calcined at 150°C to the final product - sodium carbonate. Ammonia is regenerated in the reactions back and basically is not consumed in the process.
The soda plants in Janikowo and Inowrocław (Mątwy) are located in the vicinity of these two basic raw materials. Salt is supplied by Inowrocławskie Kopalnie Soli Solino (owned by Orlen), and the limestone comes from the mines in Bielawy (owned by Lafarge).
A local funfact is the freight cable railway, delivering the limestone from the mine in Piechcin to the soda plant in Janikowo. It is currently the only cable railway in Poland. Once there was a branching of the railway to the plant in Inowrocław, but it was removed and since then the limestone to Mątwy must travel by rail.
I have no idea how many trainsets are used to transport limestone - I think 3 or more, as the arriving train at each end only exchanges one set to another and can run back. The consist in this photo has 26 wagons, a mixture of two-axle (204V - Fll; 10 units) and four-axle (411V and 426V - Facc; 16 units).
The frequent running trains have own nickname - "wahadełko" (a little shuttle) which is used in railway radio calls instead of train numbers. December 27, 2020.

Kamień wapienny to - obok chlorku sodu, czyli soli kuchennej - podstawowy surowiec do produkcji sody, jednego z najważniejszych półproduktów chemii nieorganicznej. W wytwarzaniu sody kalcynowanej, kamień wapienny podlega wypaleniu, a następnie powstały tlenek wapnia reaguje z chlorkiem sodu przy udziale amoniaku (karbonizacja solanki amoniakalnej). Kolejny krok to kalcynacja, gdy powstały wcześniej kwaśny węglan (wodorowęglan) sodu wypraża się w temperaturze 150 °C do produktu ostatecznego - węglanu sodu.
Kiedyś przed Janikowem istniało rozgałęzienie kolejki do zakładów w Inowrocłąwiu, ale zostało zlikwidowane i stąd kamień wapienny do Mątw musi podróżować koleją.

It's October 20, 2011. The short freight train consisting of SM42-028 and a dozen or so two-axle 3W/L Es-type open box wagons is passing the remains of the Grzegorzewice passenger stop which has been closed down for over 10 years, on the railway line no. 12. It was really lucky to meet such an exotic consist by chance, in addition with one of the oldest working in PKP Cargo SM42's that time.
I don't remember the use of such wagons commonly, maybe except for Halemba power plant, which tippler was adopted for these wagons exclusively. And the last time I saw them... being cut for scrap at Warszawa Główna Towarowa station in January 2021. An funfact: 3W/L wagons were remade from 202L refrigerated wagons, which turned out to be unnecessary in the 1990s, when road transport took over the vast majority of refrigerated products, being just more efficient and much faster.

This big floating crane, the “I Lift NY Super Crane" working on the new Tappan Zee Bridge was originally built for the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge project. There it earned the name "Left Coast Lifter."
With a boom length of 328 feet this is of the world's largest floating cranes. Strong enough to lift 1,900 tons at one time or the equivalent of lifting 12 Statues of Liberty.
In this photo the existing Tappen Zee Bridger that connects Rockland and Westchester counties is seen the foreground. The blue streak behind it is the new $3.9 billion Tappan Zee Bridge that is scheduled to open in 2018.
I have seen various species of shelf or bracket fungus, but I’m never sure of their IDs. I think, but am not sure, that this could be an Artist’s Conk (Ganoderma applanatum). Photograph was taken on 6 September 2014 at Brown-Lowery Provincial Park, SW of Calgary.
“The shelf fungi are a major wood rotting group. Once a tree is infected, the fungus cannot be killed. Artists use shelf fungi to make etchings and beads. The pore surface of the Artist's Conk, Ganoderma applanatum, changes color when bruised. A nail produces broad lines; sharp needles produce very fine lines. An intricate etching takes a lot of patience and time. Beads are made by carving large shelves much like you would a block of wood.”

Then it went down near the railway post office and passed under the SKM tracks using the track 503 and is just emerging from under the viaduct. It will now go up and passes throught the track no. 21 to track no. 301 of the line no. 960, straight to the railway service station. December 29, 2008.
The use of track 503 earlier was not so rare, as long as SKM tracks were used sometimes as departure and arrival tracks for longer-distance trains (in the sense of non-SKM trains) and as long as all infrastructure was in the same hands of one great unsplitted Polish State Railways. I suspect that the foundation of the SKM Trójmiasto as infrastructure manager of SKM tracks caused the halt of usage of SKM tracks for non-SKM trains on regular basis. Few years later the 503 track was partially de-electrified and after another couple of years, in 2015, some number of unused EU07-class locomotives of PKP Intercity were kept here for dozen of months. A great part of them was later sold to private freight operators.

Garlic -- an ageless ingredient with no boundaries -- It’s history in cooking and in medicinal remedies spans throughout the world from Egypt, Greece and Rome, to Europe and the Orient." Approximately 90 percent of the garlic grown in the United States is grown in California. "Egyptian slaves built the pyramids on a diet of garlic, bread and water."
GARDEN TIP: The next time aphids are attacking your roses try spraying them with a mixture of crushed garlic and water...watch them drop.
GARLIC IN SPACE -- When the French joined a Soviet space mission in late 1986, their menus caused an international stir. The French would not go into space without garlic and apparently the ventilation system couldn't dispel the aromas quickly enough for Soviet spacemen--which led to some interesting diplomatic talks.
#throwback This was me 5 years ago. #funfact At this point In my life I was the happiest with myself than I ever was before, or have been since. Petty, jealous people liked to tell me that, I actually must have low self esteem, if I acted so confident. If I knew I was pretty. I was a bad person if I enjoyed strutting , and having my photo taken. People made me question myself, and who I was. They tried to make me correlate pretty, with conceite. Confident, with unattractive. Sexuality, with promiscuity, as if it's the worst thing I could have been.
If I could go back, I would tell myself to ignore these people. This clueless, ignorant society.
I despise that, in this society it's thought to be more attractive to be insecure. You must hate yourself, if you don't, you have to pretend that you do.
There are even fucking songs about it for God's sake. "When you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell, you don't know you're beautiful...that's what makes you beautiful" Um, wtf. THATS what makes her beautiful? Romantisizing insecurity is gross. If a girl does think she's beautiful, that makes her ugly? What?
Ughh
Rant over.
This is my best friend, IG-88! He’s great for sleep-overs, and movie nights…but incidentally he always wants to watch The Empire Strikes Back for some reason. Here IG-88 is seen with some space doodads in the background and not in a microwave oven, so don’t get that freakin’ idea in your heads.
Here are some fun facts about IG-88:
1. IG stands for Inter Galactic…kinda like that Beastie Boys song.
2. At nearly 6ft7 (or 2m to the rest of the world) IG-88 is a tall bugger!
3. IG-88 destroyed his makers as soon as he was constructed…and we thought Damien was a bad kid!
4. The IG-88 line is actually four identical bots designated IG-88A, B, C, and D.
5. They were building Assassin Droids for cripes sakes! You’d kinda have to expect them to go berserk, kill their makers and escape the facility with intent to enact a droid revolution. I mean…duh!
6. IG-88’s head was originally used as part of the distillery behind the bar in the Mos Eisley cantina.
7. This particular IG-88 is about the size of the original Kenner action figure but is made with some very advanced Lego build techniques. Yep, I’m a real piece of work!
8. In a hilarious skit on Robot Chicken, IG-88 was seen not paying attention during the bounty hunter rally. Check it out here. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tU0gAvPqOYE
9.I’m merely using this image as a sneak preview for something bigger and badder that I will post later.
10. Vader rallied six bounty hunters…the only other droid bounty hunter besides IG-88 was 4-LOM. (acronym: For the Love Of Money). Looking similar to Zuckass, Kenner was confused when making the action figures so originally their names were swapped in their packaging.
11. Yep, you heard me…bigger and badder.
12. Fact #10 was actually more about 4-LOM and Zuckass than IG-88. I’m just burying fact number 9 amongst a bunch of other stuff so predictably the less observant of you will see a bunch of words, decide its not worth reading, then move on to looking at pictures of boobs. But the more observant of you will be all like…Holy crap! They used IG-88’s head as a distiller?! That means I’m in for a treat!…and I’m also thirsty for beer.
13. IG-88’s incompletely formed identity makes him perfect for bounty hunting…kinda like Dog The Bounty Hunter. What’s with that guy anyway? That feathered mullet and zebra striped wrestling tights. If he ever tracked me down for my student loans I’d be totally embarrassed to be seen with him. I’d probably just turn myself in right away so he doesn’t cause a huge scene in my neighborhood. Maybe that’s what makes him a good bounty hunter.
14. You know what, I’m gonna go ahead and name some of the more unobservant of you here. Its not like you’ll read this anyway, right? Apple Pie, Dylan Denton and Raphael G. has been hit or miss with some of these but they’re getting better. Mostly I think they post their comments before the write up goes through. I could do a long, sensitive write-up about one painting or another and their comments of “that chick is hot” would seem pretty shortsighted if they didn‘t read it. But Sedanman has consistently been the King of Unobservant! Don’t get me wrong, he’s my buddy and all, but damn, he’ll ask questions that are right in the freakin’ title, genius! I mean seriously, you wait and see…like four days from now he’ll leave a comment like “who’s that guy and why is he in the microwave? I mean cripes, sedan dude. C’mon!
15. If IG-88 is 6ft7 and I’m exactly the same height as Danny Trejo, what is the height difference between me and IG-88?
16. Danny Trejo is one baaaaaad hombre! I heard he killed a guy in prison. Its totally true, like that rumor about Richard Gere and the gerbil and don’t go looking up websites to disprove it either! Sometimes ya just like to believe in the legends.
17. Speaking of legends, you can totally see the ghost of that kid who died on the set of Three Men And A Baby. Check that out on you tube.
18. We’ve made it this far…should we just go with an even twenty on these? Ok, lets go to twenty quasi-facts about IG-88. Hmmmm, let’s see.
19. Even though he only appeared in the movie for like 2 seconds and didn’t say a word, IG-88 apparently has a deep, mechanical voice similar to Vader’s. “Luke, I am your father’s hired bounty hunter that was in that one movie for like two seconds then you can totally see my dismembered body later in that scene on Bespin when Chewbacca is rummaging for C-3PO’s parts.”
20. C-3PO…there’s just something ambiguously weird about that bot. I just can’t place it. IG-88, on the other hand…there’s nothing weird about him. Sometimes an IG-88 head is just an IG-88 head and doesn’t resemble anything else, so don’t go thinking otherwise.
