This was taken 10days ago when it was standard hot summer weather, but for the last 5 days it's been cold and rainy, and it will continue for the next week...
Midnight is a real purrer! He purrs the most of all my cats, and he purrs the loudest. He is a real humble guy, and really friendly to the other household cats.

Imagine horseback riding over 15,000 acres of rolling rangelands! That’s what you see when you look out of your room or chalet when on vacation at our ranch & spa!
Photographed this friendly crab during my walk on Werri Beach. Often they scuttle away before I can take a shot, but maybe this one just wanted the sun so badly (on account of it being winter) that it took a chance with the paparazzi!
Just showed up in our garden one day, had some food and a little sleep, before it disappeared again.
Taken at a lemur rescue location on a small island. Lemurs make terrible pets. People eventually cannot live with them and they are difficult to rehabilitate into the wild
Everywhere you go, people stop to chat to you. Even if you’re precariously balancing on a thin slice of sea wall with a giant backpack at the time :)
But today on our way along the shore, glancing over to the volcano and lighthouse in the distance a friendly old lady with her trainers on stride past us. She was extremely sweet and we had a good chat about the Te Araroa trail we’re following. I sure hope I’m so jolly, sharp and spritely when I’ve been married for 60yrs and I’m 80! What a hero!
As we walked essentially through people’s back gardens for parts of the section we tried really hard not to look like we were gawping through their windows too much ( even though we were ;) ), and even so people stopped their BBQ’s and approached us for a chat. Super relaxed and friendly bunch these kiwis so far!
