The two artic wolves at the Valley Zoo have been hand raised and are very friendly. The perform shows daily for visitors. Tonight we were allowed between the fences and when one of the members of the group put his hand up next the the fence the wolf stared smelling and I think licking his hand through the fence. I looked like it wanted attention from him

I spotted this grouse in the forest and then they just sort of followed me home. Hung out on the grass with my daughter and I for awhile.

Apparently grouse with no fear of humans is not uncommon, but it was a first for me.

My friendly Gargoyle's name is George. He guards the power pole next to this owner's driveway and sits on top of a concrete pipe set in the ground. He is on my walking route when I go to the ferry on my trips across the harbour to Auckland City. As I pass him he gives me a nod and a wink and carries on with his guarding duties.
