Gymnadenia conopsea (Orchidaceae). The light sent of the plant resembles that of cloves due to eugenol production. Flowers are pollinated by insects, especially moths.

A flower for Friday, in fact a fragrant flower for Friday. It's amazing how much scent these tiny Lily of the Valley flowers have, lovely though.

There were some wonderful stalls at Worcester's Victorian Christmas Fair. The gorgeous fragrance from this one reached me long before I got to it. Christmas wreaths and garlands were made of dried fruits fragranced with beautiful smelling oils.

'Life in an Alpine Meadow'

An eclectic collection of macro and close-up images from our recent trip to the Western Tyrol region of Austria, where I was able to spend time photographing subjects that I would normally ignore and experimenting with different techniques that I haven't tried at home. Rather than letting these photos 'gather dust' on a hard-drive, I thought I'd make a Flickr album as a useful reminder for when we return next year.

This variety -- Festiva Maximus -- is beautiful and fragrant. The deer nibbled a few buds, but there are still enough left to enjoy.

I shot this just for the color, but it turns out to be a new addition to my prairie seeds collection.

Of course I would want a rose with purple in the petals 💜I know it looks pink but it has a purple hue ...Thank you very much for viewing my photo ! I truly appreciate any faves, comments and awards! 🌹

Peace be with you.

A fragrant orchid (Gymnadenia conopsea), seen at Aston Clinton ragpits.

I found this shrub in rainforest walk in Tamborine National park, Palm Grove circuit walk,

Originally was identified as Polyalthia nitidissima, but 6 years later later corrected by GoldCoastFlora as Meiogyne stenopetala

The flowers are very fragrant , as typical Annonaceae family.

The journey continues .... Somehow this image calls to mind the poem in which each syllable of the Japanese hiragana writing system appears once and once only:-

いろはにほへと

ちりぬるを

わかよたれそ

つねならむ

うゐのおくやま

けふこえて

あさきゆめみし

ゑひもせす

or, if you prefer,

Colours are fragrant but they fade away

In this world of ours none lasts forever

Today cross the high mountains of life's illusions

and there will be no more shallow dreaming or vainglory

Please excuse this philosophical aside: the Captain will be himself tomorrow....

Looking for Orchids at Aston Clinton Ragpits Nature Reserve.

This plan really does have a very strong fragrant smell.

A blousy fragrant tea-rose, name Just Joey, from the garden...

Rescued again, it is August and we have rain and wind, their heavy blooms being trashed on their delicate stems, I couldn't stand it any longer, brought them in!

Now and then, I think they sigh with contentment for the peace and quiet and warmth, a waft of gorgeous fruity rich fragrance each time... Diamond drops glistening, bowing with headiness, the ‘ruched’ petals softly glowing in the light!!!

I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen!

With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comments, M, (* _ *)
