I'm posting another picture of it as more flowers have opened. My 'Gardening Partner' bought it a few years ago and with our severe winters we never know if it will still be there come spring. This year it's amazing, a lovely surprise every spring.

Taken from the roadside on the Southern Shore Highway.. They open late and close early.

Dame's rockets (Hesperis matronalis) that have spread on a nice hill in my neighbourhood.

They bloom from June and are a beautiful sight. I hadn't heard of them or their lovely scent before moving here.

The plant was introduced to European gardens from the Mediterranean region and central Asia. It is edible, and has been used as medicine.

Sadly it is an aggressive grower that spreads easily and competes with native plants.
