Hong Kong translates from Hakka into "fragrant harbour". I'm not sure if it's still that "fragrant" but it surely is stunning to look at. This is the view from Lugard Road, on the Peak.

... which flowered brilliantly last season for us. It was slightly fragrant. I bought two small tubers in a pack from Wilkos. The first one (in the photo) cascaded down the front of our living room shelving. The second one I planted got off to a late start as I had overwatered it.

Magnolia x albae is one of the flower with a very strong fragrant.
It is widely cultivated in Asia, particularly tropical and subtropical regions of China and Southeast Asia for the strongly fragrant flowers. An essential oil is extracted from the flowers. In China, where it is known as bai lan, the flowers are used to prepare yulan tea. In traditional Chinese medicine, the flowers are used to move qi and relieve cough.
