.. so I'm told, anyway.. I can't smell a thing!

Thanks for looking in! - Have a great day!

I had been waiting for these buds to open, only to find that they have been opening -- at night! The flowers are very fragrant, and very small.

follow this link to see the original bud, which looked almost like corn bud. there are also more images of this plant in the comments here:

more fragrant lilies in bloom. photo in a square format

i haven't done too well this year with the oriental lilies. but the six bulbs in this pot were simply planted up and left alone. i didn't make a fuss of them.

the other oriental lilies i messed around with and they're not doing too well. in fact some have just given up on me. lesson learnt for next year. plant properly from the start and leave alone. anyway as long as i get some kind of showing i'll be happy

Plenty in my garden.

What we wrongly call 'Geranium' are actually 'Pelargonium'... from my garden, where they grow faster than 'weeds'. LOL.

WILD(?) Geranium Ingwersen's Variety (Cranesbill, Perennial Geranium)

Pleasant light pink flowers with pronounced sepals on strong stems.

Macro-rhizum are more drought tolerant than other Cranesbills.

The semi-evergreen aromatic leaves of Geranium Ingwersen's Variety are tinted bronze-red in fall and foliage can be dried for potpourri.

It has a very particular, quite strong smell.

Bees love them.

My fave time of year. I love the fragrant smell of lilacs in the air. The lilacs are late" bloomers" this year. It has been unusually chilly for the past two weeks. Since there have been a few sunny days with warm temperatures, I will grab my camera and check their progress.

Yellow Frangipani with hints of pink explodes in full bloom and as fragrant as ever.

A tall, vigorous plant, Fragrant Plum produces lots of elegant buds that open into stately, delightfully fragrant blooms. Each rose is lavender near the centre and plum-purple along the perimeter. The large, double, 4" blooms produce 20–25 petals and are held aloft on long, clustered stems. Setting off these regal flowers is the plant's lush, deep green foliage. Its classic form, lovely colouring, heady scent and premium-length stems make it an ideal flower in the garden or a vase.

Some flowers go together so very well, like these pink Tulips with the blue Hyacinths.

Perfect.

All from the shops!

They embaume our room with their sweetness.

Gymnadenia conopsea - I incorrectly identified this plant as a Pyramidal Orchid. Now corrected thanks to Peter - Flora of the British Isles: A Photographic Guide.

The Chinese Paperbush individual florets are fingernail tip tiny and its scent will simply and pleasantly knock you sideways. The bushes scent can noticed long before you can see it. The fragrance is a bit like gardenia with a slightly spicier element.

"You Remain"

As a perfume doth remain

In the folds where it hath lain,

So the thought of you, remaining

Deeply folded in my brain,

Will not leave me; all things leave me;

You remain.

Other thoughts may come and go

Other moments I may know,

That shall waft me, in their going

As a breath blown to and fro;

Fragrant memories, fragrant memories

Come and Go.

Only thoughts of you remain

In my heart where they have lain-

Perfumed thoughts of you, remaining

A hid sweetness, in my brain.

Others leave me; all things leave me;

You remain.

Gymnadenia conopsea (Orchidaceae). The light sent of the plant resembles that of cloves due to eugenol production. Flowers are pollinated by insects, especially moths.
