It's hard to beat flowering cabbage and kale for outright

drama in the fall garden!

Sometimes called "ornamental" cabbage and kale, these bold rosettes nearly steal the autumn show from brightly chrysanthemums and pansies. Imagine bold shades of white and purple during the gardens quit seasons of fall and early winter !! This is an ornamental pl;ant although the leaves can be eaten, they really only good for garnish or as a base for such dishes as

When we bought our home forty-five years ago this lanky bush had grown up in our lilac grove. These tiny 3/8 inch blossoms are always among the first to bloom, and we look forward to them each year.

It's not usually easy to get a photo of a flowering yucca as the flowers are normally up high and on a difficult angle to photograph but I found this one which is quite nice.
