This is the ring flash, lit up at at low power. Shot at F22 on the 30D. Ring was optically triggered using a flash cube in the end of the PC cable. Camera flash provided the fill.

FLASH BACK
e nell’evanescenza dell’io presente tutto torna
a me, ogni strada percorsa, ogni pietra lanciata,

Santa bought me a sweet flash unit and this little bee helped me to test it :-) Its my first halfway decent insect shot and I credit the flash with that.

and the tree we thought was too big in our other house now seems to have shrunk in the huge spaces we have in our century old Villa...
These taken in horrible conditions (a copy room and office respectively), with my 30D and 85/1.8, with a dedicated flash bounced above…
Timmy's tired of having the camera poked in her face!
She has become my guinea pig!!
Experimenting again, this time with the flash.
Yesterday was the first time at sunset (and over land) that I have managed to capture this elusive green flash phenomenon. (Previous successes were both at dawn and also when the sunrise was over the sea).
once the whitetail fawns lose their spots, they seem to grow up so fast! of course, they only have about 6 months up here to fatten up for the winter!
Nikon SB600 used with D80 in Commander mode.
Didn't realise that there was this function until Falk told me. Cool! (But the sensor on mine seems to be quite sensitive/insensitive to the camera flash. In other words, it doesn't work 100% of the time.)

Testing my new mini slave flash (Morris mini Slave Flash Plus), to try and remove the shadow created by having just one flash.

Where is the small creek? The dirt road? The bridge across the creek?
A flash flood produced by 5"+ of rain in less than 6 hours...

Here's the first picture of the temple cat - in the middle of the night with a flash which made her eyes really strange looking. Her name is tentatively 'Taj.'
