There would have been some excellent flashing on the pots if I had reached temperature. This was mainly due to stacking tightly. I could see the flames really wrapping around the pots. I'm not sure what I want to do with these double bisqued pots. Maybe I'll get the energy to woodfire them in a rebuilt kiln next year. This endeavor cost me too much time, labor, and cash for these meager results. They would have looked awesome glazed in shino and fired in the gas kiln. I could probably still gas fire these now. It would be interesting to see what happens to the shino with the deposited oxides and fluxes.

Straight from camera apart from a little s correction on the curve to take the flash 'cast' from the background and pull the models legs from the brightly lit catwalk
My new flash wot arrived on Saturday. Was a bit wary since according to a thread on the Flickr Strobist group a lot of people have been having problems with this flash. So far it's working good though. Not that I've actually done anything with it yet.
The Vivtar 285HV is a basic manual flash with a zoom head. In theory it's ideal for Strobists on a budget but until I've used it for a couple of shoots to make sure it's not gonna melt on me, I can't really recommend it. Here's hoping though!

...Durante um exercÃcio com flash externo, realizei essa foto de minha esposa (não tenham a idéia da dificuldade que foi pra convencê-la!!!) . O efeito ao lado, com luz em desfoque, também é conhecida por BOKEH, um palavra vinda do japonês. Esse efeito juntamente com o enquadramento realizado, tornou a foto mais interessante, pois preencheu espaços vazios e escuros, quase sempre comuns em fotos noturnas e externas. O que ajudou no bokeh dessa foto foi primordialmente a abertura do diafragma mais enquadramento fechado com objetiva tele. Observação: Foco pontual no olho direito, pois se o olho estiver focado, a sensação será que todo o corpo também estará...outra observação, pelo que me lembro, foi minha primeira foto de bokeh....portanto....estou buscando ainda o aprendizado!!T+

Canon powershot a1200 with no flash in dimly lit room. Bit of noise noticeable. Though to be fair, it was darker than the picture looks.
Camera set to full auto., but flash turned off.
Experimenting with flash and a straw grid snoot. The victims were too busy with Scooby Doo to care about the occasional flash going off :-)

In all the years that I lived along the Sonoma Coast, I've never seen the sun set so dramatically before. I've never witnessed a green flash appearing above the sun. Wikipedia has an interesting article on green flashes: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_flash
