Long in the tooth at 38 years old, FedEx 757 N990FD is on the gate at Memphis International. The Boeing narrow-body first flew for Delta Air Lines as N619DL in 1986.

FedEx Express A300 N668FE has flown to Memphis from Oklahoma City. The Airbus experienced a hydraulic low quantity on decent. This resulted in a manual extention of the landing gear and declaring an emergency. Hence, the AARF crews at the end of Runway 36C.

Leaving Memphis on Taxiway Alpha is DC-10 N68058. This McDonnell Douglas tri-jet was first delivered to Turkish Airlines in December 1972. It came to FedEx in November 1989 and retired to Victorville, California, in January 2009. It was eventually scrapped.

The 100th 767 freighter made for FedEx, N277FE, is leaving Memphis for Detroit Rock City.

Leaving New Orleans an hour earlier, UPS A300 N151UP is arriving to Memphis on Runway 18L.

Delivered new to SAS in 1976 this aircraft has an eventful history: In 1984 the aircraft had an accident at New York JFK - overrun the runway and ended partly in salt-water. The aircraft was recovered and later sold to FedEx - converted to freighter in 1985.

 

After 45 years of service she still looks pretty good and earns money hauling parcels in North America.

Retired in 1999, the nose is now on display outside the Aviation Institute of Maintenance near Houston Hobby Airport, Texas,
