Featured Katmai new instructions (KNI), which enabled SIMD processing ( Single Instruction Multiple Data), where previously an instruction would only operate on a single item of data, and now we programmers could write code that had much higher throughput, exciting and fast...
Macro Mondays theme : Fast
Fast it wasn't. Most of us spent most of the time walking ahead, beside or behind, easily jumping on an off without interrupting forward progress.
driving 6500km across europe in 9 days, that´s all you can see when you look out of the cars side window ;-)
The Red Squirrels on Brownsea Island spent most of their time on the ground so it wasn't easy finding one in the trees. This one shot up a tree when chased by another squirrel. They don't seem to be aware of other squirrels in the bracken etc and almost just "bump" into each other!
Faster Pussycat in Pittsburgh. 2002?
My F3. .I have this picture of Faster Pussycat to share. There's a parasol with a death's head...I mean, come on.
Because the cargo bike is fast and skinny, it can deliver multiple items in the heaviest of traffic.
Ace paperback - published 1970 - 1st paperback edition
Howard Fast (1914-2003) was a celebrated and controversial American writer who, upon occasion, wrote science-fiction stories. 'The General Zapped an Angel",first published in 1969, is a collection of 8 stories - seven of which had never been previously published. The exception is the story " The Mouse" which was featured in the November 1969 issue of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.
In this reader's oppinion a science-fiction short story that keeps your interest and shows a commendable a degree of originality and creativity is a rare commodity indeed. The fact that the stories in this collection meet my subjective criteria is a detail I find quite amazing. I would go so far to say that this relatively slim volume would be an excellent text for anyone foolish enough to aspire to write short fiction.
-The Mouse: Just what would happen if aliens infused a common field mouse with intelligence - and then left him as an abandoned experiment?
-"The Wound": Using atomic weapons to release underground oil deposits may disturb more than sand and gas.
-"The Movie": Some folks find reel life more real that, well, real life.
-"The Mohawk": A Mohawk Indian parks himself in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral for some deep meditation much to the consternation of the local parish priest.
-"The Insects": Our friends the bugs start broadcasting a disturbing message "You must stop killing us".
-"The Vision of Milty Boil": A very short, extremely wealthy contractor keeps building vast high rise apartment buildings with lower and lower ceiling heights.
-"Tomorrow's Wall Street Journal": Would you like a copy...well the Devil will give you one for a price.
-"The General Zapped an Angel": One day in Vietnam a US General shot one of God's angles from a helicopter gun ship and then...
-"The Interval": If our earthly landscape was one big elaborate movie set what would happen when the show was over?
If you've ever watched a Tufted Titmouse you know, like many small birds, they can be very fast and unpredictable.
They are frequent, year-round visitors in our yard, but their speed and unpredictability is why I very seldom am able to get any shots of them!
So, I was thrilled when I spotted this one at the mealworm feeder the other day! It showed up a few times and I was able to get this shot before it took off with a beak full of those tasty mealworms. I can only guess this parent was taking them to go - to feed a hungry baby or two!
From one extreme to the other, we will start on the fast end. US Navy F-18 Hornet moving at just under the speed of sound making vapor cones....
Some time later we'll take a look at slow....

On her way home from work, my wife stopped at Sonic Drive-In and ordered us Burgers and Tots. I got the Cheesy Bacon SuperSONIC® Stack and she got herself a SuperSONIC® Double Cheeseburger. She also got us each a Side of Queso for our Tots.
