On a gray late October day, it's nice to look back at some of the fall beauty I got to see in September. This photo was taken at Alta Ski Resort in the mountains above Salt Lake City. We had a short fall this year but the aspens put on a great show.

I'm fortunate that I live close to work as I come home each day to take the dog for a good walk over lunch.

And even more fortunate is that there is a beautiful little trail going along the Seine River close to the house.

Once the fall comes we're down here pretty much every day and it makes such a nice break from work.

Another fall portrait with Kaitlin. We did a few shots with this jacket and we found that with the darker fence as a background was a better fit than the bright fall colours so we mixed it up a bit for these shots. This is also a little bit of a different look for Kaitlin since she's generally always in full smile mode - this time it's more of a semi-smile and a little something from her right arm. I think it turned out pretty great.

Lighting for this one:

We were under some trees so we had some shade but I broke out my SB-910 on a monopod with a 26" rapidbox pretty much directly overhead, fired by CLS with my D7100 as commander.
