I spent a Fall weekend at Silver Falls State Park in Oregon recently, immersed in the beautiful colors of the season. We rented one of the rustic cabins in the park and called it base-camp while we intensely photographed the incredible seasonal colors.
Stay tuned to my website for a blog-post of the trip, along with the images I came home with.
I always have to make a trip to Oxbow Bend in Grand Teton National Park the end of September ( along with hundreds of others ) for this wonderful autumn scene.
Deep East Texas.
Fall is coming to East Texas, and I look forward to documenting it over the coming weeks. I never got around to posting this photo I took in early December last year, when American beech and several other hardwood species were in peak fall color. Pictured here is a mesic hardwood-dominated ravine.
I love this quiet atmosphere, this silence around me, this complicity with nature.
I love to walk in the snow, and to be able to see my own footprints.
I love the white forms which replace everything,
and these paintings the landscape offers to my eyes.
I love these falling skies which redefine reality.
I love winter so so much.
backyard photo - 435 shots taken every 2 seconds stacked using starstax, then postprocessed for effect. one used lighten mode in starstax, the other darken.

call dorothy - tornado alert!!
the darken mode brought out more of the leaves in the sky and lost the ones falling to the ground which can be see in the lighten mode photo.
slight wind made for nice movement in the tree when stacked.

While having a wander around London on Saturday, I made another visit to Heal's Department Store on Tottenham Court Road to photograph their wonderful spiral staircase. This was my second visit, and I wanted to get something different from my previous two photos.
Designed by the architect Cecil Brewer, the Heal's spiral staircase was completed in 1916 with an echoing helix of lights installed after the Second World War. A refurbishment project in 2013 saw this design landmark restored to its former glory, with a bespoke Bocci chandelier. It's probably London's most photographed spiral staircase so it's always fun to try new compositions.
I spent quite a while trying out different compositions, looking down and looking up, but they've closed off the very bottom to the general public now so I had to ask a member of staff very nicely if it was ok for me to go down to photograph it. She was a bit reserved at first but soon agreed to escort me downstairs while I did what I needed to do.
I really love how the bulbs in this gorgeous chandelier look like stars falling from the sky, it really is stunning.

Our wine tasting getaway in Los Olivos. Such a quaint little town
with many vineyards which are really nice. About an hour from San Luis Obispo.
has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.” ― Lauren DeStefano 🍂☀️❤️☀️🍂

In late summer and early fall hydrangea leaves darken and turn various shades of red. The flowers, too, deepen their shade.
It was just after sunrise and time to walk Murphy when I took the opportunity to catch the rising sun warming the haze over Hay Bay
I feel like I've fallen in love with Autumn all over again..
Hope everyone's having a lovely week :)
