The Rule of Benedict, unlike many religious documents that followed it, is not an exercise in spiritual athleticism. It requires not arduous fasts. I'm loving the fall berries this year. This might be Pacific Ninebark or, as urtica points out, cranberry bush.
Since July of 1981 the North Pend Oreille Valley Lions Club and the Pend Oreille Valley Railroad (POVA) have gotten together to operate several weekend excursions rides in summer and fall along the Pend Oreille River in Northeast Washington. These rides run along the north end of POVA's railroad, which is especially rugged as the track snakes along the cliffs that shadow the river far below. There are several tunnels and bridges along this stretch of track, ranging from low wooden trestles to the huge Box Canyon Bridge. No road offers the splendid views and awesome vistas that are afforded by a ride on the train..

Using three classic railroad coaches, three open-air cars converted from various rolling stock, and one caboose, this 20-mile round-trip takes approximately one and a half hours and is very affordable for the whole family. Two of the cars are leased from Inland Empire Railroad Historical Society.
We had a lovely long weekend here for Thanksgiving, and after weeks of inactivity, I got out and about with my friend to see what we could find on the back roads of New Brunswick on Sunday. This was one of the shots of the day. More to come.

Went for wander with Terry was a great day out, went to Falling Foss. Falling Foss Walk leads you through rich, semi-natural woodland on either side of the Little and May Becks. The waterfall of Falling Foss is at its most spectacular shortly after rain. You will also see the Hermitage which has been carved from a massive boulder - there is a view point here too. In spring the forest floor is carpeted with wildflowers. Bird life abounds among the oak, ash and hazel trees. A realy beautiful place to walk.

lighten mode brought out the falling leaves in the lower portion of the photo. the opposite was true of the darken mode photo.
