Its about that time again! Fall is in the air

As a South Floridian, I must admit that the one thing I miss from living up North is the season changes. Our fall is, well, just like the summer actually….just a little less humid. Now don’t get me wrong here, I’m not looking to start shoveling leaves out of the yard, but a few nice walks in the cool brisk air while searching for fall color scenics to photograph is more like it.

There is something very special about those first couple of weeks heading into any new season actually. It’s a shame if you’re a photographer or even a passionate enthusiast like me not to take the time to capture it. In fact, I think I’m gonna make it a point to escape 4 times a year to capture those moments now that I think of it. A great way to recharge the creative batteries don’t ya think? I might keep that winter trip short though. It gets pretty cold out there!

I made it a point to get up to New England a couple of years ago to capture the color, but never really hit the peak. Not even close actually. I hope to do a bit better this time. Below is a shot from that trip. As you can see, its still a little green, but still pretty!

Just a slice of autumn taken mid October at the Grand River Open Space.

In the John A. Sibley Horticultural Center at Calloway Gardens, in west Georgia, there was a man-made waterfall with a path behind it. (The Sibley Center is now closed.) I made this photo looking out from behind the falls at the colors of foliage and flowers, beyond. I did not record details, but I used a Canon A2E with a Canon zoom lens of some sort. The film was Kodak Velvia, and the shutter speed was about 1/15", hand held
