Sometimes I wish for falling
Wish for the release
Wish for falling through the air
To give me some relief
Because falling's not the problem
When I'm falling I'm in peace
It's only when I hit the ground
It causes all the grief-Florence and the Machine-Falling

I think the most impressive fall color I saw over the weekend was when I stopped for a break on our backpacking trip and just happened to look up to see this stoplight pattern (green, yellow, red).

GLASCO, Ulster County (149 acres)—Falling Waters Preserve is an excellent place to explore the rugged beauty of the Hudson River, hiking atop rock ledges that slant precipitously into the water while occasionally descending to the shoreline. On your way to (or from) the mile-long trail hugging the river, you'll pass other scenic treasures, including a meadow affording outstanding views of the Catskills and a picturesque waterfall.
Created through a unique partnership between the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, Esopus Creek Conservancy and Scenic Hudson, Falling Waters Preserve once was the site of the Mulford Ice House, an enormous, windowless structure that held up to 10,000 tons of ice "harvested" annually from the river and destined for shipment to New York City during warmer months. (An informational kiosk at the preserve's entrance explains more about the land's history.) While following the trail leading to the icehouse remains, stop and admire the second of the cataracts for which Falling Waters is named.
This house was built in 1873 by Sarah (Cady) Yerkes and William Purdy Yerkes, children of early Northville settlers. The home originally stood on the south side of Cady Street between Church and Center streets. The nine-room house features traditional Carpenter Gothic style.

Yerkes House is currently located at Mill Race in Northville Michigan.

The peepal tree in the nearby village temple is my favourite. It is huge and tall with a dense canopy. In the mornings and evenings a lot of birds used to perch on the tree and I will sit on my terrace with my camera mounted with my 500mm.
The sight of the leaves flickering in the gentle breeze is simply soothing !!!
And it is very interesting to watch the seasonal changes through those leaves. Now the leaves turned yellow for the fall season and soon new tender green leaves will replace them.
Clicked those fall colours with the temple goddess in the background !!! Hope you
like it !!! Have a great day friends !!!
Shot this with Tamron 500mm mirror lens.

It's that time of year... the air turns crisp and the leaves begin to turn. I always love visiting these roadside pumpkin patches. What are your favorite fall traditions?
At last the planets aligned.... some decent fall colors, the Urbana D41 local ran in daylight, and the cab was facing west. As a bonus, the train (usually 4 or 5 hoppers) picked up 22 empty potash hoppers from Anderson's. The ex-CR SD40-2 (and its preserved Leslie RS3LR air horn) disrupt a peaceful afternoon in my home town of Mahomet, Illinois, as the engine has to make an effort to climb out of the Sangamon River Valley along the former Peoria & Eastern main line, now the NS Mansfield Branch.
These purple beauties only seem to pop up in the Fall. I took this on our walk back from the park.
~ ps. If you haven't watched the video "Disney Nature Wings of Life" in my Hummingbird post check it out! It's so beautiful I could watch it over & over.
Only a fool can deny
the shiver of a cold stream
tendering the curves
caressing the bends…
The gentle whisper of a humble fall,
caved…on a sinister lure.
Only a fool can deny
the soothing arc of your sight
that thaws the heart of a rock
and hollows the soul…
The hypnotic sway of your neck
carving an eternal refuge
for a salty yet fragile stroke…
Only a fool can deny
the strength of your eternal kiss
mesmerizing a morning dew, in tears!
Yes… Only a fool can deny
this seductive dance of the water and land!!!
