September has felt more like a summer month so far. Looking forward to the leaf change!

Bright days are always a challenge as the contrast is so high. It was unusual on such a day that the suns rays were so obvious, especially as there was so little cloud. The tide was just dropping hence the wet sand which is perfect for reflections.

This shot is taken at the Borisova Gradina - Sofia.

My favorite park ;)

With all the fallen leaves there are still many more leaves on the tree!

Nothing beats a walk in the forest on a bright November day, down the avenue of trees and leaf covered floor, the sunlight highlighting the golden autumnal tones and shadows across the forest track .

Thanks for your views, faves and comments, much appreciated.

But one can fall in Love with Autumn

The Sun, the Colours and the Light

Do you remember this lovely Sight ?

When Leaves are dancing in the Air

Landing here and also there

Each of the Seasons has its Charme

MELO R4: The Fall of Gondolin

Glorfindel's Fall: Caleb Walker vs. John Snyder

The city of Gondolin or the "Hidden Kingdom", was home to the Noldor Elves. Located in the Hidden Vale of Tumladen, it was the perfect place to build an Elven city, due to its natural surroundings. The encircling mountains gave much protection and also concealed the city's location. The Great Eagles also destroyed any spies or servants of the dark lord, Morgoth. The city of Gondolin was built out of white stone and thrived for five centuries, until it was finally betrayed and its secret passages revealed to Morgoth. Who sent a huge army of Balrogs, Orcs, wolves, and Dragons to destroy its inhabitants. The Elves fought valiantly for their home, but the might of the enemy was too great, and the mighty city of Gondolin was sacked.

During this great battle against evil, the valiant elf-lord Glorfindel fought a mighty Balrog. Their encounter led them to a high pinnacle of rock where the fight ended when they fell over the edge and into the abyss. The Great Eagle Thorondor bore Glorfindel's body up from the depths and buried him in honor.

This was probably my most rushed entry yet! I feel bad because I absolutely love the city of Gondolin, and would've loved to build more of the city. But with a week of being a camp counselor, and then a week of vacation. There was little time for building. To be honest, about 90% of this was built in one night. And my desk is a total mess and I really need to sort and put old builds away. The Balrog needs some work, I just didn't have enough time to make him better. The rocks actually turned out very nice. Enjoy this incredibly rushed MOC!

A bunch of us, men and women, had been up at French Camp Ranch for cocktails with Scott and a little racing on the track Scott built.

As usual everyone, and I mean EVERYONE had kicked my ass on the track and on the way home.

I was not a particularly accomplished go-fast rider, and my bike was a big heavy powerful single cylinder dirt bike really well suited to tearing along smooth dirt roads, slogging through mud or climbing hills. Neither the bike nor I was well suited for nimble turning or close maneuvering.

It had rained recently so being tail end Charlie, I had been subjected to a shower of mud and stones all the way.

The group up ahead comes around the bend onto a long flat straightaway.

Midway through the straight, they enter a twenty yard long stretch of deep thick sticky mud. Their peaky little 2-stroke racing bikes didn't have the gut slammin' torque required to power through the mud-hole and one by one each and every one of them comes to a stop, hopelessly mired in the muck.

They're all pulling their helmets off cursing the mud when along I come around the corner and on to the straight.

Now, I'm pretty toasted, and seeing a chance to show everybody what a 500-cc Honda thumper could do in its own element, MUD!, I dropped a couple of gears, wicked that bad boy wide open and brrRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAP! I blew through that mud hole like Moses parting the Red Sea, showering my friends with a blast of rich fecund mud.

Laughing big, I looked over my shoulder to see everyone shaking their fists and screaming epithets in my direction. I waved jauntily, and returned my attention to the road ahead of me. Only there was no road ahead of me. The road was passing by to my immediate left, then to my rear and above my head and receding rapidly. I had been scraped off my bike by the rock at the road's edge that had intercepted my knee cap.

Well, I had gone over the cliff. But it was not a sheer drop and it tapered off at the bottom and except for the hit my knee took at launch, I had not been injured by the fall, the tumble and the gradual stop at the bottom.

After a while heads and shoulders appeared up along the horizon that marked the top of the cliff. I could hear them discussing among themselves what their course of action should be. On one point there seemed to be unanimous assent. I had gotten what was coming to me. They were all furious, especially the women.

With the help of a couple of the guys, I managed to get back up to the road. I looked and felt fine, except for the split in my pants. They were split from my left knee all the way down the leg, and upon closer inspection my knee was split down to the downey white of the knee cap.

When I took this all in, I got a feeling like the worse thing in the world was happening to me (think Israeli soldier being captured by Hamas, or vice versa).

In other words I went into shock.

Someone went up to town and brought back a van. Then they loaded me up and took me to the ER. You know the rest, except for this.

I have revisited this injury many times but only after reaching forty, each time with excruciating results.

I sincerely hope my recanting of this tale is not so charming as to divert your attention from the true morals of this story. Don't drink and drive/ride. Don't mess with your friends. Don't think you will never reach forty. And don't think you're superman/superwoman and can do all kinds of physically extreme shit. There's a lot of Kryptonite out there people!
