Thank you to Sylvia for the beautiful testimonial. You really brightened my day with your sweet words. If you haven't seen Sylvia's photostream.....you should definitely check it out. She and I share one great Love and I think He is the one that made sure we became friends. :0)Thank you, Sylvia. You are a wonderful friend.

For this shot almost wrote off my D800, I slipped and knocked myself and the D800 solidly from the side.

Thankfully the D800 and myself came out fine.

The hillside on the right almost looks like a person sleeping.

Ok, so most of you know the great photographer Machel Spence (I call her the Bokeh Queen!) – well, she and I are good friends and email one another often. When I took my dog Maggie out a couple weeks ago and saw this mushroom with the sun shining on it so beautifully so I ran back in the house and grabbed my camera wondering if I could get a shot half as nice as what she takes – just for fun! I was never going to post it but when I sent it to her privately through email to look at, she loved the shot and said it would be a compliment to her if I would post it!! So, there you have it my friend!

BUT WAIT –

if you want to see the best of the best – go to her stream and also to her ETSY site (both listed below)! Her work is some of the best you will see on Flickr! I think just about every one of her pics makes it in Explore! And you won’t find a better quality of prints and cards out there – I have bought several (just added 2 more to my collection yesterday!!). And to really treat yourself – buy her new book – it’s nothing short of INCREDIBLE!! I bought one for me and one for my daughter for Mother’s day (and signed it from her boys)!! I feel honored to be her friend and to tell you that this little mushroom (my first and last) was inspired by her!! Thanks M for your friendship, your inspiration and for sharing your spectacular work with us.

AAWWWW - EXPLORED!! Thanks everyone!!

Vegas best attraction, bar none.

For the basic setup, I placed the camera in front of the kitchen faucet, and opened the faucet until it dripped every second or so. To stop the motion as crisply as possible, I used an off camera flash as the main lighting: Because the flash is so very fast (1/10,000 of a second), it tends to freeze the motion of the water, making for a more crisp shot.

I wanted a background that would look good in black and white (i.e. something simple), so I printed "H2O" onto a piece of paper, placed behind the faucet. If you focus "through" the water, the drops act as a lens, allowing you to see the background through the water.

Once I had everything set up, it was mostly a matter of taking a bunch of shots (100 or so?) until I got the timing right, and a "pretty" looking drop.

another "fine" show from the British :)

These cute 3 kids were seen at our local mall, dressed in the same Christmas style PJ's. They were happy with some small treats after having visited Santa, but I'm sure were anxiously waiting for more at Christmas time. The pyjamas had flaps at the back with the inscription "Happy Christmas". The kids were so cute!

I asked if the boys were twins and if I could take this photo of the entire family; there was no objection but I kept my distance for more privacy reasons and to get the entire family group into my frame.

Finally they got the message, thanks for changing it back to a better format and no black page to squint at,

My Sunday Sunset outing at the harbor.

Dedicated to all my friends.

Especially to one that I still find it hard to understand her words to me, until now... (sigh!) ...and...

another for making my eyes go blur ... LOL!

Found this bouquet when I went to Ipoh and had a cup of coffee. I didn't realize that the establishment recently opened and when I started taking photos of their "Congratulation" flowers, many people must think me mad!

Hope you all have a beautiful and bright Sunday!

he finished his 365.

Joe,

every time I look at your pictures you make me incredibly jealous because at the age of 15 you are so good at photography. when I first discovered you you used to take more conceptual pictures and gradually you started to just document your life and the time you spend with your friends. as much as I liked the photos you took at the beginning of your 365 and as much as I love the thought-out ones you take today, the ones I enjoy most are the candid shots you take of your everyday life. every single one of your pictures represents you and your surrounding in such an intriguing way and they all make me want to go out and shoot film all day long.

if it wasn’t for yours and Jill Willcott’s 365, I would have never started using a film camera and that is why I want to say thank you. thank you for inspiring me throughout this project and thank you for making me think beyond and try out new things.

congratulations on finishing your 365 and please don’t stop sharing parts of your life with us. :)

you are fucking awesome. and I really mean that.

The book value of the remaining Volvo B7LA artics should be written down in the forthcoming financial year making them eligible for scrapping. With 10159 now reported as for disposal it is likely to become a source of spares to keep its sisters going.

Seen here at King Street Depot, the amount of moss now growing on the vehicle isn't obvious in this shot.

lol - today Rosy is the only girl available for modelling. my dolls live in the lounge room in the bay window and we ripped up the carpet and sanded and varnished the floorboards and now I can't get in there. Luckily Rosy was hanging out in the dining room and allowed me to use her to model this dress. poor thing is somewhat unkempt though as the combs (shoes etc) are all in the dolly cupboard (=

Weekends go by so quickly..... here is a little something to help you start your week.

For the testimonial.

For the friendship.

For the wisdom you've shared all these many years on flickr.

I just love you, Petra!

seems I do do requests after all.

Cindy asked the other day for a photo with my hair down so here it is Cindy. Had a few issues with it while trying to style it hence why its a little frizzy. Don't worry its back to normal now.

So the length is getting better and the colour is more blond now without a doubt. Shame its receding at the temples but we are prone to that aren't we. time for the wigs again I suppose.

Anyway its working for me at the moment. Now this dress what can I say its the best four pounds I've spent. I got it today in yes you got a charity shop. four pound honestly its amazing

I took this photo when I was about 12 or 13 years old. This was my brother, Shawn, when he was about 5. I told him to pose and he decided to pose as if he was praying. I don't think either of us had any idea how prophetic that photo would be.

My brother gave his life to Christ when he was just a little boy, about 9 years of age. I had come to the Lord about a year earlier, when I was 16. Since he was a child, Shawn has had a passion for the things of God, and definitely became a man of prayer, and eventually, did ministerial work. He has served as a pastor, and even had a radio show for a while, trying to reach out to the community in which we live.

Now, I am asking for prayers for my brother. Last night when I got home from work, he was waiting in the driveway, and asked me to bring him to the hospital. He was short of breath, gasping, and said he had had a coughing "fit" and coughed up blood. We rushed to the emergency room, and thanks to a dear friend who is a nurse, said the necessary things to get him in ahead of other people. She felt that he might have a pulmonary embolism, and told me he HAD to get in there right away or it could be fatal. So, she told me to threaten to call Morgan & Morgan, a local law firm that specializes in law suits! Sure enough, they took him in next, and since some people had been there for hours, that was pretty impressive!

We were there for hours, waiting for a bed to free up, and for tests to be run. His oxygen levels were low, and his blood pressure was incredibly high. I can't tell you how frightening it is to sit in a waiting room, helpless, while your kid brother is in a life-threatening situation. I couldn't help but feel that somehow this should have been me, since I was older. So many emotions flooded in, all the things we'd been through, and the petty squabbles that seemed ridiculous in the light of the situation. Finally, my middle nephew arrived and went back to see him, while I stayed in the lobby with about a dozen people, some who were crazy and having psychotic episodes, and others who were in pain but not complaining. It was like being in an episode of the Twilight Zone!

When my other nephew arrived, he went back, which meant I couldn't, so I received updates through texts. My nurse friend came to the ER and brought me a sandwich, because I hadn't eaten all day and it was 11:30 at night. I was so grateful for that sandwich!

I finally got to go back and see Shawn again. He was a little loopy from the meds, and was getting a headache from the nitro they'd given him. I learned his BP had been 203/ 123! His oxygen levels were up, and the xrays and tests were showing no clots in his lungs. They then suspected a heart attack. He had had no pain, though, so the other thought was that this was all because of elevated blood pressure. We won't know until morning what else they will do, and if he will have to have a heart catheterization. Thankfully, the BP is back down, and he is receiving blood thinner to keep him from clotting.

Needless to say, it's been stressful and harrowing, but Shawn has been in good spirits, making the jobs of the hospital staff a pleasure. They love him, and it's easy to see that he has such a heart for people. Now, people need to have a heart for him. I am requesting prayers and good thoughts for my brother so he will be out of danger and back home soon. It's hard for me to look at my 6' 3 1/2" brother now and see this little boy in the picture, but I still remember all the years that have gone by, and hope for many more to come. Please pray.

As I walked by PNC park this morning they were cleaning the stands and closing up for the year.

Friday Finds ...

My 'Friday Find' today,

the other day my Flickr / Blog friend Beverly surprised me

with this lovely collage ... so sweet of her !

I want to surprise her too ...

Each year I make these little 'Sedum' arrangements,

I put some flowers in small glasses with a bit of water,

then into little old zinc and terra cotta pots.

I created this image,

using the 'light' texture from my 'Floral Touch' set

and a touch of one of Kim's Overlays ...

For you, Beverly !

For some time now I prefer staying at home making some mellow Hiphop music. More than going out to do some street photography.

Open at last .. my sad little tulip, blooming in all her perfection. Once opened, this lovely tulip stayed with me for over a week, closing every night and opening every day as the temperature rose. Her petals have fallen now .. goodbye little beauty .. I'm sad to see you go :((

UP 8854 is holding on the main at the west end of Rocky. Why is it holding on the main? Because it will be meeting an eastbound oil train that is currently above it, on the main at Eisele (Clay). Usually, the first train to arrive for a meet would take the siding, but in this case, the eastbound will hold the siding at Rocky for the westbound Zephyr. The flag on UP 8854 has definitely seen better days.

Finally a web site

Sorry for another bubble pic this week! What I had planned didn't work out. I bought these "crayola colored bubbles" but as you can see in this pic...they just looked like normal bubbles lol. The videos, pics, etc advertising the product is totally false advertising. The only thing colored is the solution, other than that, I can't even tell which one is blue, yellow, and pink here....haha. Totally lame and a waste of money. :P I might try this idea again with a different bubble brand or different lighting. Otherwise I'm returning the machine because I already have a regular bubble machine...not sure what the point is of having 3 different pots for the wands on the machine to get one of each color when they all end up looking the same in the air.

I guess it's time for the annual recap!

So, in 2021, I posted 9 Mocs:

- 3 Space Jam entries. I especially liked the collaborative category, I had talented and helpful teammates. We might be preparing something this year... Thanks to the organizers, it's an awesome contest with inspiring categories.

- 2 different bonsais, the big one for the Brickset competition and the mini version for a Lego Ideas contest. Quite different from what I'm used to, but it feels great to try other themes.

- A metro scene for a contest by @brickcentral on Instagram, I'm very happy to have won the first prize, there were so many great entries.

- A figbarf competition organized by Brickpirate, I chose to represent The Queen's Gambit characters with a minifig-scale chessboard.

- 2 other MOCs, a rover based on weird wheels and an humanoid zebra bust, because why not.

This is less MOCs than last year, for 2 reasons: I worked for weeks on a post-apo diorama that was shown at exhibitions, but I never took the time to photograph it. Also, I moved so it took me a while to setup my new Lego room.

I've just realized I've hit 1K followers here. A big thank you to all of you for watching, commenting and sharing my work! Keep building awesome stuff.

Coming soon:

- Space Jam 2021 : I've got plenty of ideas, some of them are nearly finished. I hope to enter at least 4 categories (if I have time... )

- my post-apo diorama, when I'll finally decide to shoot it.

I apologize for my lapse in answering emails and posting new images for the last 4 weeks. I just returned from nearly 4 weeks of international traveling that included trekking in the Himalayas and some time in Thailand. I hope to have some images processed soon from the trip, but for now I have to continue posting some older work.

This is an image from a short trip I took to Death Valley a couple weeks before I left for Nepal. I spent some time here at nearly -300 below sea level, and two weeks later I was trekking at 16,000 feet under the tallest mountains in the world. I hope you enjoy the image.

Sunday 2nd October:

Clare's friends in Scotland are having a special ceremony in her memory today. It will be at the beautiful White Loch where she used to enjoy wild swimming with them.

In my tiny vase:

a pink rose from a bunch from friends

and from our garden:

deep pink heuchera leaf

late-blooming lavender

fragrant tiny elaeagnus flowers

I just checked the weather forecast for White Loch this morning. The first gives scattered showers all day. I hope this is wrong and that the next one I found giving clouds and sunshine, is correct.
