I'm one of a kind.

I am dedicating this shot to my friend Frecklenose. She is a wonderful friend here on flickr with a great eye for capturing life, feelings, and dreams. She puts quotes with each of her shots that seem to mirror beautifully with the photograph, my quote is more of a tribute to who she is rather than to the image :)
Thanks Frecklenose for sharing the beauty that you see around you and for all your thoughtful and insightful comments.

This is Patricia Lake which is just outside of Jasper. This particular morning was a great one for photography as there was great light, nice clouds, and a little bit of mist rising off the lake. I came away with a few keepers from this morning which I will be posting over the next little while. Thanks for stopping by!
In memory of my dear flickr friend Gwen Dawes who sadly passed away this morning. You will be sorely missed Gwen.

all my heart will give
all the glory to your name
i am ready for school to start
i am so thankful for my older brothers
i am inspired
but i am getting so frustrated with my pictures
because they do not come out how i want them to
i so badly need to clean my room
it just proves that procrastination will over ride my neediness to have a clean room
my eye lids are becoming so heavy
to the point where my body is just telling me
rest
..
and yet..
we are consumed with these worldly things
we are consumed with what the world thinks of us
we are consumed with ourselves
we are consumed with the things that are worthless
we are consumed in a heap of selfishness
we are consumed
i want to be consumed
with jesus christ
so that my cup can be filled
only to be emptied and filled again
there is no greater feeling in the world than that of knowing that jesus christ is king
and that he was, and is, and is to come
he has saved me
and i am forgiven.
there is no doubt in my mind,
that IS the best feeling in the world
for i am his
and he is mine
for eternity
my dearest friend . . . . you know why . . . .
lead kindly light
amid th'encircling gloom
lead thou me on
the night is dark
and i am far from home
lead thou me on
keep thou my feet
i do not ask to see
the distant scene
one step enough for me

From November 11, 2017 @ 7:49 pm I knew.
Every moment a huge step forward.
I didn't falter and I believed.
This was always the song, these were always the words.
Long Live The Queen
Aretha Franklin ft. George Michael
Like a warrior that fights
And wins the battle
I know the taste of victory
Though I went through some nights
Consumed by the shadows
I was crippled emotionally
Somehow I made it through the heartache
Yes I did - I escaped
I found my way out of the darkness
I kept my faith (I know you did), kept my faith
When the river was deep I didn't falter
When the mountain was high I still believed
When the valley was low it didn't stop me, no no
I knew you were waiting
I knew you were waiting for me!

The stage was set. It's spring, the trees were in bloom, and there she was. Posing for the cliché-ish, yet, fun portrait; the "Jump" pose.
When I saw her from a distance attempting the first jump I immediately headed that direction. I got down on one knee and waited. She took a running start, leaped, and BAM! After viewing the back of my camera I thought, not bad for a first try. I'll do better on her next jump.
But that would be her final flight. She asked her photographer if he was able to get the shot. Apparently not because then she looked at me and asked the same question. I gazed once more at my camera and said; yes! Would you like to see it?
When I showed her the image she seemed pleased. But, as you know, photos always look good on camera. Reality doesn't strike until they're seen on a computer. She asked if I could send her a copy. I agreed and took her information.
Later, when I got home, I uploaded my pictures from that day. I was especially interested in the jump portrait. Although it was colorful, and cute, I noticed she was infected with slight blur due to camera shake. DRAT!!
But I did promise to send the image to her and (reluctantly) that was what I did. She thanked me and wished me well. Hopefully she liked it. At first I wasn't going to post it on Flickr. I was a little frustrated and felt that a good photo opportunity was wasted. But the image is still adorable. =)

We have a chance to visit this beach and have some seafoods for lunch. Not very crowned since it is too near the Airport far away from those popular beachs lacation. For the above photo you're invited to have your own seat.:)
Nai Yang Beach, Phuket, Thailand. The beach itself is a long curving bay lined with evergreens that provide shade to picnic for which activity this a very popular spot. The large coral reef is home to many different species of fish, and Nai Yang is well known as a site where sea turtles come to lay their eggs during the period from November to February.

"And for the win..."
The racecaller has declared it well before Swoop Dog has crossed the winning post. In fact you can already see that jockey Kyle Maskiell has begun to slow his horse. It's a tricky business finishing a race like this. When it is close (and I'll show you a close one in Race 6 on Saturday) the jockeys and horses are working overtime to get to the line.
But it's not so easy when you're two lengths in front with metres to go. The reason for this is that each race is monitored closely by "The Stewards", race judges that are more than willing to fine or suspend a rider if they feel he or she is not taking the horse to the line in a fully competitive fashion. At the same time the jockey and horse usually understand when they have a race "in the bag" and it is natural to want to slow even before the line.
No dramas here. Swoop Dog wins easily by a length and a half.
Song For Ireland
Luke Kelly
Walking all the day near tall towers where falcons build their nests
Silver winged they fly, they know the call of freedom in their breasts
Soar Black Head against the sky
Between the rocks that run down to the sea
Living on your western shore, saw summer sunsets, asked for more
I stood by your Atlantic sea and sang a song for Ireland
This beautiful old building is actually part of a movies set left behind after filming was finished. This is the old school house, from a movie shot in Dingle, Ireland in 1970. That movie was called Ryans Daughter, and is a classic. In the distance is an island, known mainly by locals as "The Sleeping Giant"...a close look will tell you why.
This is a two shot blend. approx 4.5 minutes for thsky and water, and 1/100th sec for the fg, as I wanted to get those sheep in.
The song itself isn't written by Luke Kelly, but out of all the versions of it released, his version is still my favourite. Well worth a listen for anyone with an Irish heritage,
Hope you like "Song For Ireland"....cheers, Mike

Angel Whispers - Candles And Prayers For Peace On Ukraine by Daniel Arrhakis (2022)
More than one hundred days into Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Relentless shelling, bombing and airstrikes have reduced large swaths of many cities and towns to rubble.
The U.N. refugee agency UNHCR estimates that about 6.8 million people have been driven out of Ukraine at some point during the conflict.
Nobody really knows how many combatants or civilians have died ... In Mariupol alone, officials have reported over 21,000 civilian dead.
Sievierodonetsk, a city in the eastern region of Luhansk that has become the focus of Russia's offensive, has seen roughly 1,500 casualties ...
More than ever, the futility of a brutal war that should never have happened and that in the end can only be resolved through peace negotiations is in plain sight.
Whatever the outcome, the World will no longer forget the innocent victims, many of them children, the pregnant mothers fleeing bombed hospitals, the bodies in the streets, the martyrs of the Mariupol Theater, the civilians slaughtered by the Russian army in the streets of the cities, in the queues for bread and much less the silence and connivance of the Russian people in the face of the invasion of a people that was considered their brother!
But sadder is to see soldiers who died every day, some because they defend their country and others because they were sent to an immoral war with false pretenses by a regime that does not respect international law or the most basic human values.
This is the time to give peace a chance before it's too late!!

A Wonderful final of the Week and Weekend Dear Friends ! : )
this quite unusual sight I discovered today, at the end of September, when I went out to the fields to shoot....a field full of sunflowers...such a great day :)))
thank you all for your likes and comments on my previous photos, I really appreciate that...
have a great day all!!!
From atop Lower Manhattan's One World Trade Center, some 102 floors (1,254 ft (382.2 m)) above ground level, one can see for miles and miles.
Well mate, I finally made it out for a wee spin at The Kelpies last night and this one is for you. This shoot was meant to happen last week but the weather intervened. I was thinking of you mate - we will see you in Scotland soon, I am sure of it.
I have never Light Painted next to such bright structures before - it was challenging to say the least! Not to mention the two bloody cranes that meant my angle was heavily compromised for the shoot (and on a slanty grassy hill for good measure too).
