For today's standards the mechanic parts of a car in the 1920's were quite simple. And all mechanical, nothing electronic. Chiribiri was an aircraft and automobile manufacturer from 1910-1929. The company was also involved in Grand Prix racing in the 1920's.

I am pleased to announce you the creation of a new project for Tina who want something around a tutu dress set... So I plan to make a real pancake tutu with a gradient in different tulle overlays, inspired by the romantic ballet, where the spirit of Giselle, dancing with her lover, comes to save him from the death.
This set will include six pieces... a blouse, a tutu skirt, corseted over-skirt, stockings, short cape and hair pin.
I WISH YOU ALL HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
From Wikipedia : Hermanus (originally called Hermanuspietersfontein, but shortened in 1902 as the name was too long for the postal service), is a town on the southern coast of the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is known for Southern Right whale watching during the southern winter to spring seasons, and is a popular retirement location. Although the Southern Right whale is the most prolific species in the bay, it is not the only one that visits these shores. The whales can be seen from the cliffs all along the coast from as early as June and usually depart in early-December. They were once hunted in the nearby town of Betty's Bay, but are now protected to ensure the survival of the species.
Hermanus Pieters (ca.1778–1837) was a Dutch teacher who arrived in Cape Town in 1815. He was recruited by Dutch-speaking farmers who disliked that English was the only language used in all government schools. He settled in Caledon, but taught Dutch to farmers in a wide area around that town, including the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. He often vacationed at the spring ("fontein") in present-day Hermanus, where he fished and grazed his sheep, the place eventually became known as “Hermanus Pieters se Fonteyn”. He died before the village Hermanuspietersfontein existed. 65 years after his death the postmaster decided to abbreviate the name to Hermanus.
It is also notable that Hermanus still boasts a historic railway station building without a railway line. The founders of the town decided not to lay any tracks as this would have made Hermanus more commercial and felt that Hermanus needed to stay a small fisherman's village. To this day the locals still refer to it as "the village."

After looking through my work, what do you think about Nikob vs. Sony? Do you prefer the Nikon D810 and Nikkor / Tamron / Sigma lenses /glass, or the Sony A7r and Sony Sonnar Carl Zeiss e-mount glass/lenses? I love them both! And I am so excited about the Sony A7rII !
For those who have been wondering why I disappeared from the face of the earth for more than 2 weeks here is your answer: I have been working one of the most challenging and painstakingly detailed doll projects of my life - the Mother Earth.
This OOAK fashion consists of a hand painted sequin gown that can be altered to be worn either long with a cascading silk chiffon shirt or as an edgy short dress; either nesting a leaf gold "egg" at the model's tummy making the wearer pregnant or without it. The sequins are layered is sculpted from that resembles a feathery armour and under the hand painted copper exterior of the sequins movement reveals crevasses of deepest black. The gown's 2-tone silk hem is cut short from the front to reveal a pair of Alexander McQueen inspired platform sandals. These sandals use my Hokusai heel and are covered all over in leaf gold and decorated with golden straps with butterflies. The outfit is crowned by an Isis inspired hand sculpted helmet, which is also covered in leaf gold.
The model is a Sybarite Raja repaint by me and the wig she wears in some of the photos is from Ilaria (Time of Doll).
For my Grandson Quinn, who wants to know all about Zentangling ... if he was close enough, I would have already taught him all the basics by now ... but will send him Suzanne McNeills Zentangle basics book. I needed a color break anyway ... I still love the pure black & white! ... 5x5, Done with Kuretake black zig millinium & black writer pens ... hope you are all having a great week end! :) THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR ALL THE SWEET & THOUGHTFUL COMMENTS THAT YOU TOOK TIME OUT OF YOUR DAY TO LEAVE FOR ME, TRUELY APPRECIATED! :)

Lawrence Fisher was the most flamboyant of the seven very prosperous Fisher Brothers. Along with his father and brothers, he earned his fortune in the Fisher Brothers Body firm that supplied General Motors. In the mid-1920s, Lawrence Fisher decided to build a magnificent home for himself—one that would clearly indicate his wealth, perhaps more than his good taste. He selected this isolated corner of Detroit apparently because of his desirable location near Lake St. Clair. From 1925 to 1934, Fisher was not only a principal in Fisher Body but was also president of Cadillac.
C. Howard Crane, the great theater architect of that age, was selected to design the house. He was known for his exhauberant style as illustrated in his Detroit masterpiece—the Fisher Theater. This was apparently meant to be a huge Mediterranean-style villa similar to some that rich individuals were building in Florida at this time. Fisher was a close friend of William Randolph Hearst who was building his San Simeon estate in California at this time so some think that Fisher wanted a Detroit home to rival San Simeon.
This is a 22,000 square foot home situation on four acres of gardens. However, it has only two bedrooms. The interior floors are rosewood parquet. There is black walnut paneling with numerous marble columns and several walls covered in hand-painted leather. At one point, 200 craftsmen were employed to build this house, many of them apparently brought from Europe for this purpose. The master bathroom is done in lapis blue Pewabic tile. Seventy-five ounces of gold and 140 ounces of silver were used for the interior trim. No one cultural style was used in the interior. Rather, the style varies from room to room. Shortly after moving in, Lawrence Fisher and his close neighbor Gar Wood, who lived in a nearby mansion, had a canal dug so that their homes could be directly linked to the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair. Fisher then build a boathouse so that he could have indoor parking for his 104-foot yacht. Apparently, he could go from his living quarters to his yacht without going outside.
The four acres of gardens—still maintained—include three fountains, a waterfall and peacocks.
There are many stories about Lawrence Fisher. Apparently, he had many rich Detroit friends who preferred Packards to Cadillacs. He convinced some of them to take the Packard bodies off their cars and replace them with bodies he had specially built for their Packard chassis. There are also stories that, when he was going out, he would call the Cadillac plant on Clark Street and ask that a car matching his attire be provided. Finally, there are stories that because of romantic interests, Jean Harlow spent much time at this house on Lenox.
Alfred Brush Ford, the great grandson of, purchased this home in 1975. He and his wife subsequently donated it the Hare Krishna movement. They maintain it as a cultural center that is regularly open to the public.
Date of Construction: 1927
Architect: C. Howard Crane of theater fame
Interior Designer: Francis J. Geck
Architectural style: Greatly embellished Mediterranean Revival
Use at Present: The Bhaktivedanta Cultural Center of the Hare Krishna group
Star trek III, The Search for Spock
There is a wisdom as old as time that says "There is no such thing as a good odd-numbered Star Trek movie." While we could get bogged down in arguing minutiae, I would rectify that statement and say that there is no great odd-numbered Trek film, but there are at least two good ones, and the best of the odd-numbered Treks is arguably Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
Forming the middle portion of a trilogy with Wrath of Khan and The Voyage Home, Search for Spock picks up immediately after the events of Khan, with the Enterprise crew still mourning the loss of their former Captain Spock (Leonard Nimoy). Upon returning to space dock, the crew is given a commendation and extended shore leave (except poor Scotty, who has to report to the new Excelsior engine room to help with their transwarp drive). The crew is resigned to the fact that the Enterprise, being over twenty years old, is going to be decommissioned, but a visit from Spock's father Sarek (Mark Lenard) leads Kirk (William Shatner) to believe that while Spock's body may be dead, his consciousness is alive in someone else... Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelley).
Kirk and a skeleton crew (Scotty, Sulu, Chekov & Bones) set out in the Enterprise to return to the Genesis planet and retrieve Spock's body, in hopes of returning it to Vulcan. What they have yet to find out, however, is that Lt. Saavik (Robin Curtis) & Kirk's son David Marcus (the unfortunately named Merritt Butrick) have discovered, on Genesis, that Spock has been reborn as a child. Further complications arise when a Klingon ship, commanded by Kruge (Christopher Lloyd) gets wind of the failed Genesis project and travels there in hopes of stealing the technology for the Klingons.
Okay, we need to get this out of the way immediately; The Search for Spock is not a very good film, even by Star Trek standards. It suffers from horrendous budget restrictions which first time director Nimoy couldn't shoot around as well as his predecessor, Nicholas Meyer. A lot of the recycled sets & costumes look terrible, and really distract on the 2009 blu-ray high def transfer. It's likewise hindered by being sandwiched between arguably the two best Star Trek films ever made, and can't help but feel like a trifle compared to the other two. It's got more substance than I remember it having, but the stakes are relatively low from beginning to end, and the sense of danger imposed by Khan in the previous film is just not met by the Klingons in this film.
All that being said, the film is actually much better than I remember it being, if for no other reason than the script is actually surprisingly well written. The dialogue and interplay, particularly between the Enterprise crew is as good as it's been in any of the films, and the humor throughout (much of it by, or at the expense of, Bones) is pretty reliably funny. The two truly emotional moments in the film (Kirk learning of the death of David & Spock's recognition of Kirk at the end) still land incredibly well and make up for some of the more ridiculous acting choices made by the other actors throughout the entire film.
William Shatner, the actor, was never better than he was in these three films. His moment I mentioned a moment ago, learning of the death of his only son, is very powerful and as good as he's ever been on screen. He also appears to be having a good deal of fun in this film, which is odd considering he was unhappy at having to be directed by his co-star (all of which led to Shatner taking the helm of arguably the worst Star Trek film not directed by JJ Abrams, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier). The rest of the crew is good as well, of course all resigned to one or two bits (one of the few lessons Abrams & his writers wrongly incorporated from the original films).
Lloyd is also nowhere near as bad as I remember him to be. His casting is ridiculous, to be sure, but he's not quite as bad in actuality as I seemed to have thought he was. Curtis, taking over the role of Saavik from Kirstie Alley, though, doesn't fare as well. Granted she's not given much to do, but her line readings are spotty at best and she's not terribly convincing as a Vulcan. Beyond some ridiculous stunt work in the final fight between Kruge & Kirk on the dying Genesis planet, there's really not much else bad I can say about the film.
Star Trek III is a fairly lightweight effort in the Trek canon, but it still manages to have far more good moments than bad, and is ultimately a genuinely enjoyable entry in the series. It has its flaws, to be sure, and they are numerous, but it still manages to be solidly entertaining and never insulting in the way some of the other odd numbered Trek films were. It can't help but pale in comparison to the two films bookending it, but I wholeheartedly recommend checking it out, particularly if it's been a while since you've seen it. It holds up much better than you might remember.

Thank you to everybody for the kind words and for being in your thoughts and prayers . I've been working on something for several months and I am finally ready to tell the world about it.
To save any of you, who would rather not have to read the rest of the spiel below, I'll put a short version first:
LandArtforKids.com is a not-for-profit project I have started with JRT Pickle to encourage everyone we can to do Land Art and we are starting with kids aged 3-8. So if you are in any way inclined to agree with the sentiments that Land Art encourages creativity, exercise in the fresh air, appreciation and love for nature, fun, outdoor activity and learning for kids of all ages (myself included) then PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE write a blog entry about it, tell all your friends, inform your schools, shout about it on Facebook, email everyone you know, come look at the website and stand on street corners with a loud hailer! (errm maybe not the last one - unless you REALLY, REALLY think this is a good idea)! And even if you don't think it is that great then tell everyone you know anyway!
To Flickr staff. Although my books are for sale on that site, there are very tiny markups added to them in order to try and recoup a very small percentage of our costs. We've spent many, many hours of our free time and our own money on this project and will continue to do so in our quest to provide free resources and inspiration to kids the world over to get out and make Land Art. This is not a commercial adventure but instead a personal mission to try and tell everyone about the food-for-the-soul that Land Art can be. So please don't view this as commercial because it certainly isn't.
I will also be posting Land Art for Kids related stuff with the Land Art for Kids account, so please make them a contact, and I'll return back to my own Land Art here.

I shot in DX mode which crops away the extra pixels and takes me 1.5X closer while allowing for up to 7 FPS with the Nikon D810's Nikon MB-D12 Battery Grip using the 8 AA battery option! 8 Duracels took me through around 3,000 shots no problem--maybe more! I was shooting at the equivalent of 900mm with the 1.5x crop factor! Pretty close! Had I gone with the Nikon D4s, I would have gotten 12 fps, but no DX crop factor, as the sensor has only around 14mp, compared to the d810's 36 megapixels! Sure the larger pixel size on the Nikon D4s full frame sensor comes in handy indoors or at night, but in the bright sun, there's more than enough light for the smaller pixels in crop mode! Sure we lose some pixels from the outer edges when shooting in DX crop mode, but most of those pixels would be cropped away in lightroom anyway. And the smaller files make the memory cards last longer, while also upping the FPS to 7 shots per second! Not quite 12 FPS, but still awesome and enough I felt!

Looking for someone to rent one room in a two bedroom, two bath apartment in the heart of Hollywood, starting on July 1st.
This is a huge (1200 sq) and fantastic apartment. Stunning views (upper floor of the tallest building around), loads of natural light in all rooms, and a 12-foot ceiling, get ready to forget the feeling of living in a shoebox!
I have lived here for 2 years and every single person who comes in comments about how great of a place it is. It’s located on a small picturesque tree lined street that goes from Orange Dr to La Brea, giving you easy access to both Sunset, Highland, Hollywood and La Brea Avenues. And In-n-Out.
The room for rent is very spacious, has a huge built in closet and its own private bathroom and private balcony. Room comes unfurnished, but I have furniture for sale from my previous roommate at a great price. Apartment is fully furnished, and in case you already have some furniture, we can always figure things out. There's central heat and a/c and a gourmet kitchen with all stainless steel appliances.
This is a very quiet 48 unit community, newly renovated, of 30 something professionals. Not a "party hardy" building, we're more of a wine and cheese crowd. Rooftop is technically not supposed to be used, but it offers quite possibly one of the best 360 views in the entire city. The door is always unlocked and you can enjoy the sunset or read in the sun.
I have a very busy schedule during the week and spend very little time at home, with much of that being in my room. You will see me at concerts, yoga classes, hiking on the weekends and watching Game of Thrones on Sundays.
Looking for someone who is reasonably clean, responsible, and generally quiet. No couples or live-in boyfriend/girlfriend. No smoking allowed inside the apartment.
It truly is an awesome and spacious apartment. If you have any additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out.
Bed: Private Bath: Private
Rent: $1350 for 6 month lease, $1500 for a 3 month lease
Deposit: $1350 (will be returned if there are no damages, all personal property is removed upon move-out).

It is Athena who descends to call Telemachus to Adventure in the first book of Homer's Odyssey--to man up, find news of his true father Odysseus, and rid his home of the false suitors, and too, it is Athena who descends in the first book of Homer's Iliad, to calm the Rage of Achilles who is about to draw his sword so as to slay his commander who just seized Achilles' prize, thusly robbing Achilles of his Honor--the higher prize Achilles fought for. And now Athena descends once again, assuming the form of a Gold 45 Goddess, to inspire you along your epic journey of heroic endeavour.

All art is but imitation of nature.-- Seneca (Letters from a Stoic - Letter LXV: On the First Cause)
The universe itself is God and the universal outpouring of its soul. --Chrysippus (Quoted by Cicero in De Natura Deorum)
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells. --To Autumn. by John Keats
