Everybody is fighting breast cancer!

My daughter with the photography degree loves this, it doesn't work with most of my shots, but I thought this was okay for a first attempt at post processing fake tilt shift. Hope you like it kiddo!

Il 30 settembre di 22 anni fa i Simply Red pubblicavano "Stars".
In quell'album c'era anche questo capolavoro di dolcezza
Testo
You've got that look again
The one I hoped I had when I was a lad
Your face is just beaming
Your smile got me boasting, my pulse roller-coastering
Anyway the four winds that blow
They're gonna send me sailing home to you
Or I'll fly with the force of a rainbow
The dream of gold will be waiting in your eyes
You know I'd do most anything you want
Hey I, I try to give you everything you need
I can see that it gets to you
I don't believe in many things
But in you I do
Her faith is amazing
The pain that she goes through contained in the hope for you
Your whole world has changed
The years spent before seem more cloudy than blue
In many ways your baby's controlling
When you haven't laid down for days
For the poor no time to be thinking
They're too busy finding ways
You know I'd do most anything you want
Hey I, I try to give you everything you need
I'll see that it gets to you
I don't believe in many things
But in you I do
You know I'd do most anything you want
Everyday I, I try to give you everything you need
We'll always be there for you
I don't believe in many things
But in you I do

For her blocks in Bee Unique Bee Knotty Joanna sent us either green or blue fabrics plus some grey and white. She asked for geometric, non-wonky, non-pinwheel blocks and noted that she loved paper-pieced stars.
I love paper piecing so it was an easy choice. This block is from a quilt pattern called Millennium Compass on eQuiltPatterns. I used the two green fabrics that were sent and added in two of my own, each slightly darker than the ones sent.

When I jumped off from the wood pile, after shooting a self portrait (see below), I realised I had three fans waiting for me!! :D
Have a great weekend!

Quando sono saltato giù dal cumulo di legname, una volta scattato un autoritratto (vedi sotto), mi sono accorto che c'erano delle ammiratrici ad aspettarmi!! :D
Buon weekend!

With hope that the process for an independent Catalonia can continue without any big conflict with the rest of Spain.
There is also a part of Catalonia to be found in south of France where the demand for liberty versus the French government is just not as strong as it is South of the Pyrenees.
Here some info from my blog about Catalonia:
There is presently a strong wish amongst the Catalans in Spain to become a new independent state in Europe, totally free from Spain.
The Catlans is not only present in North of Spain but also in the Southern part of France in the region Languedoc-Rousillon there are many Catalans living - even if they do not claim to be independent in the same way that they do in Spain. The photo above is from a Catalan dance group situated in Perpignan, France as they perform in the village Collioure by the foots of the Pyrenees and the shore of the Mediterranean in France.
Catalonia is a region situated in the North of Spain and the very South of France. As we have an apartment in South of France, we are well aware of the strong bounds that exists in the region from the Catalans and this gave the idea to build a little album with photos from our tours and stay in Catalonia of today.
This album was published under a tour in May 2014 - and will develop accordingly with our travels in Catalonia - France and Spain.
From the history of Catalonia:
In 711, the Moors crossed the Straits of Gibraltar and swept through the Iberian Peninsula. They captured Barcelona in 717 and then crossed the Pyrenees and went as far as Poitiers before being checked by the Franks. In desperation the inhabitants of what was to become Catalonia turned to Charlemagne, the powerful Frankish leader for help in return for pledging allegiance to the Carolingian Empire. Girona was retaken in 785 and Barcelona in 801, and the province of the Spanish March, a buffer zone between Christian France and Muslim Hispania, was born.
The Spanish March was governed by local counts, who had political and judicial functions but were ultimately responsible to the Frankish king and were appointed and could be dismissed by him. The most powerful of these counts was Guifre el Pelós who managed to unite the counties of Urgell, Cerdanya, Girona and Barcelona, and so controlled a swathe of land that stretched from Barcelona to Perpignan along the coast and inland to the Pyrenees. It was Guifre’s son, Guifre Borrell, who became the first hereditary ruler of Catalunya Vella, Old Catalonia. The next step on the road to nationhood came in 985 when the Moors, under Al-Mansour, managed to cross the River Llobregat and sack Barcelona. Having received no military support from the Franks, Count Borrell II declared independence, and although not recognised by the Franks until 1258, an independent state called Catalonia was born.
The next two centuries were spent consolidating their territory and pushing the Moors south towards the Ebro, and in 1137 Count Ramon Berenguer IV married Petronella, the infant daughter of the King of Aragon. His son, Alfons I, became the ruler of the most powerful state in Southern Europe, the Catalan-Aragonese Confederation, which consisted of Catalonia, Aragon and the whole of the south of France. With considerable help from the Knights Templar, the Moorish threat became a thing of the past.

We made a quick trip to Cody for groceries. Next time I want to spend more time in and around Cody as there is a lot to photograph. We did stop to shoot the Smith Mansion. It is an enigmatic multi-story structure about half way between Cody, Wyoming and Yellowstone National Park.
Francis Lee Smith began building the house in 1971. He had no plan; he just started building and couldn't stop. The structure is built from fire damaged lodge pole pine and other materials scrounged from the surrounding area. The only electricity was from a long extension cord connected to a pole along the highway below. A tangle of additional extension cords powered various rooms in the house.
The builders wife and children moved into town and visited on weekends. He kept building additional floors, stairways and balconies, furniture and metal sculptures as the mood struck and supplies were available. He lived without running water or plumbing until he slipped off an upper balcony in 1992 and died. For awhile his daughter made efforts to raise funding to preserve the house. That effort failed. As the structure has been vacant for almost 25 years it has become more and more deteriorated and unsafe.
The Smith Mansion and the surrounding 10 acres went on the market for $750,000 in August, 2018. Act now to make this unique property yours!
My Grandma, Thelma Burk, died this morning. She was exactly 1 month away from her 99th birthday. She was one of the classiest ladies I ever knew. And while age stole her memory, nothing will ever steal my memory of her. She taught me a great deal about grace and beauty and her heart of love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was inspiring. See you soon, Grandma, when we meet again in the presence of Christ. I love you.
I just love the light on these flowers. Not sure if flowerly is a word either but we'll just coin one right here!! St.John's, NL. AND thanks for all the comments and great support and thanks David at Explore. Cheers.
Crab for Breakfast. Juvenile Herring Gull with a crab catch.
I went to Jones Beach on Long Island, NY very early, hoping to find shorebirds and terns. Instead I had fun watching Herring Gulls catching crabs, some quite large, in the surf right among the early swimmers.
The comment box shows
- A sub-adult Herring Gull looking for a quiet spot to enjoy its recently caught crab.
- A juvenile Herring Gull hunting for crabs at the edge of the surf.

My dear friend Amber and I had been talking about this concept for a while and when we both had the time to get together we created a short series of images of this woman at her own burial. This is the first of that series, I'll be posting more soon!

I wanted to experiment taking a self portrait with my old olympus zuikio prime 50mm f/1.8. Using the wifi Canon EOS App for the Canon 6d, I MANUALLY focused on my face while looking at my phone!
While these were test shots using nice window light, I really like how these came out!
In post processing, I wanted to achieve a style that I really admire. I was inspired by Eduardoizq on flickr! I love his work and I wanted to try editing a photo with low saturation.
Post Processing: Minor editing achieved in Lightroom 5.2 and Photoshop CS6.
