A double headed passenger train, now free of the yard limit restrictions of Antonito, pick up speed on their climb out of the San Luis Valley. 24 August 2021.
The sun was teasing again with a bit of sun on the front part of the train 35028 Clanline slowly heads towards Teignmouth after been signal checked on the seawall
Until January 1993 the 177 had express journeys in peak hours between Trafalgar Square and Thamesmead. One in seen at Ludgate Circus on a July evening in 1992.
The traffic congestion in London is so bad nowadays that the idea of an express bus service is laughable.

It was created using data from the nadir channel, the field of view aligned perpendicular to the surface of Mars, and the colour channels of the HRSC. North is to the right. The ground resolution is approximately 15 m/pixel and the image is centred at about 38°S/177°E.
[Image description: This tan-coloured slice of ground is smoother to the left and becomes covered in small hills and mounds to the right. Wriggly, uneven ridges cut horizontally across the frame, while two prominent fault lines cut down vertically on the left and right. Large and small craters are peppered across the terrain. TAP Express are a subsidiary of the Portuguese flag carrier, that used to be known as Portugalia. Currently, they operate a fleet of Embraer 170 jets, plus some ATR72 turboprops.
The latter are operated on their behalf by White Airways and generally operate within the Iberian peninsula and North Africa.
The temporary grey sky did me a favour here as otherwise I'd be looking right into sun when CS-DJE took off.

The Renault Express was built between 1986 and 1999. It was the van version of the Renault 5. This model has been adapted to provide room for someone in a wheelchair.

Since the advent of low cost digital photography, I've occasionally been moved to photgraph things the like of which I'd never have expended film upon.
This shot from 2011 is an example of such gay abandon, though the surrounding scene adds something to just another Optare Solo. That said, and a little more seriously, the operator, North Wales giant 'Express Motors' is no more and I believe this service is no more either ... or its a shadow even of its former sparse self. Express don 't often get good press, but they did at least have a livery rather than a lazy base white with possible stickers.
Here their Solo CY56 MRO enters Borth-y-Gest from Porthmadoc on its shortish journey to the holiday camps at Morfa Bychan. It will turn round in a few hundred yards to retrace its steps to the main road as there's no through route to the destination out of the village.

Merchant Navy 35028 Clan Line, digs in to to lift its heavy train away from its station stop back up to line speed.
With only 4 bullied coaches available, the consist has been lengthened to look more appropriate for the immaculate and highly respected locomotive.

For those not familiar, Galaxy Express 999 is an old-school anime series (based on a manga series by Leiji Matsumoto) that started airing in 1977. I'd been watching a few episodes on Crunchyroll which inspired me to build this vignette. The premise is that Tetsuro (the little boy) wants a mechanical body and Maetel is taking him to a place where he can get one "for free". They ride on the Galaxy Express 999 space train, and have (mis)adventures at pretty much every planet they stop at. This vignette is of yet another time when Tetsuro's train pass gets stolen and they have to get it back.
