The Panorama Express is negotiating the Wassen loops. Looking back at where we have been, we are on an upper level. The small town of Wasser lies below in the valley. Knowing where and in what direction you are going here can be a bit confusing. The train is moving at about 45 mph (80kph?). You look out at the church at Wasser on one side of the train, and a few minutes later, it's on the other side, then back again on the first side. I remember going over this route in the mid-1960s and seeing this place.––photo by Joe McMillan. September 20, 2024.

Taken using a Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 L IS USM Mark II, kindly lent to me by Alex Lawrence. This lunchtime, he showed me the Canon EOS-1DX, which, combined with the said lens, made for an orgy of super-mega-macho hardware. The speed and responsiveness of this DSLR is breathtaking; the camera is noticeably larger and heavier than previous 1-series bodies. I found the 12 frames-per-second drive particularly thrilling; we easily pleased men like our hardware, don't we?
This afternoon, I was reminded of how difficult it is to photograph starlings. Nature isn't here for our benefit, so one just has to take it as it comes. Although the lens has a 4 stop Image Stabilizer, one does need a monopod for control, stability and sharpness. I went to Jessops afterwards and bought a good quality Manfrotto pole. I've micro-adjusted the 300mm lens to +2 and reconfigured some AF custom functions, so everything should be working as it should, the next time I visit Brighton Pier.
I was pleasantly surprised to be graced with the presence of starlings in late October; they are early, perhaps owing to cold weather on the European continent. I am happy with my first starling picture of the season. I will of course, do better than this over the coming months.

A cette occasion, des voitures mythiques de l'Orient-Express seront exceptionnellement presentees a Train World, le musee de la SNCB a Bruxelles. Cette exposition-phare du festival Europalia Trains & Tracks fera la part belle a des oeuvres d'art decoratif et des documents uniques retracant l'aventure de l'Orient-Express et des Wagons-Lits.
L'exposition evoquera egalement les imaginaires que ce train mythique a eveilles et les reves qu'il a engendres, des plus connus comme Agatha Christie aux plus tenus, tout en rendant hommage aux artisans d'art qui ont contribue a construire sa legende.

1986 make of CLW, Ex. Tughlakabad; Vadodara (BRC) WAG-5 # 23116 hauled 12972 Bhavnagar Terminus - Bandra Terminus Superfast Express gracefully crossing Vaitarna Creek Railway Bridge. This scenic location surrounded by river, mountain and curvature wherein one can keep an eye on train for 8-10 Kms, however not recommended for long hours of rail-fanning due to Sand mafia and Police.
Express Motors CY12 EMS, a Scania N230UD / Alexander Dennis Enviro 400, sets off from Caernarfon on route 1 to Porthmadog via Garndolbenmaen. The top deck of this vehicle would provide spectacular views of this scenic route.
Express Motors SH51MKN is an Optare Solo M920. Seen in Caernarfon, SH51MKN was new to First Glasgow as their MS2.
is a Panorama Express train connecting Chur to Tirano in Italy by crossing the Swiss Engadin Alps. For most of its journey, the train also runs along the World Heritage Site known as the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula / Bernina Landscapes
Even though I only carried my D7000 for one of the three days we spent in Universal (the lockers you needed to store backpacks in when riding were just barely big enough for my camera pack and were a bear to deal with), I did have my iPhone 6 with me the whole time, and it turns out a half-way decent image when you use a little care.
This is the park’s recreation of the Hogwart’s Express, and having seen the actual train used in the films when in Scotland this past summer, they did a good job with it. Of course, the steam here is all for show.

Express Motors DAF / Optare Spectra EM04 ORS approaches Caernarfon with a working of route 1 from Bangor - Porthmadog. This vehicle will then continue as a 1B to Blaenau Ffestiniog. The view from the top of this vehicle as it motors across Gwynedd is sure to be spectacular.
Central Railway Loco Workshop, Parel (Parel) made Vatva (VTA) WDM-3D # 11539 ready with MAS bound, Ahmedabad - Chennai Central, 19420 Chennai Express at Ahmedabad Junction. This train has complicated rake sharing with Azimabad Express and Janmabhoomi Express wherein coaches are being added for these two trains and deducted for Ahmedabad Chennai Express. Train departed 10 mins late from ADI at 9:50 AM as late clearance given by Hisar-Bandra Superfast Express. However we reached bang on time 4:50 PM at Vasai, i.e. 7 hours with average running speed of 63.64 Kmph. This train has too much of slack in between Vasai and Chennai.

HLF-947 plated 263 of Nyíregyháza rumbling between Timár and Szabolcs villages, near the edge of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén counties.
Not far from here in the background, behind the tree line flows the Tisza river. Along the journey from Gávavencsellő to Rakamaz, the yellow Ikarus rolls close to many backwaters of the river, serving as a way back machine for geographical history.
In the far distance the Zemplén mountain range is towering above the scenery.
National Express sets 462 038 and 058 in the RE4 service from Dortmund Hbf to Aachen Hbf are speeding up after a stop at the station Übach-Palenberg. Within seconds the train wil run past 'Schloss Rimburg', a castle on the German side of the border and close to the Dutch village Rimburg.

MARC cab car 7100 brings up the rear of an express at Riverdale MD on the afternoon of April 26, 1995. GP40W #60 was leading. The train made no stop here and indeed will make it's next stop at the new Greenbelt MARC/Metrorail station a few miles ahead where the Capitol Beltway crosses the Camden Line. MARC 7100 was originally built for the B&O in February 1951 as their 293A and was a "phase 1" F7 as evidenced by the shorter cab side windows. Phase 2 F7s have the taller side windows.
