Every day millions of children in Africa are at risk of being exploited, resulting in slave-like working conditions. Their childhood is forever lost. “Forced labor robs children of a childhood, which in turn negatively affects their ability to be constructive members of their communities for the rest of their lives,” said Mark Hatfield, Africa director of Baptist Global Response, a Southern Baptist humanitarian aid and relief organization.

« L’entrée au gouvernement n’est pas notre priorité, nous pensons plutôt que pour résoudre la crise togolaise, il faudra mettre en œuvre les réformes préconisées par l’Accord politique global », a déclaré lundi Dodji Apévon, le président du Comité d’action pour le renouveau (CAR, opposition) au sortir d’un entretien avec le Premier ministre.

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual campaign that begins on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs through International Human Rights Day on 10 December.
Led by civil society, the campaign is supported by the United Nations through the Secretary General’s UNiTE by 2030 to End Violence against Women initiative. In 2023 we are asking governments, institutions, and citizens to show us how much the world cares about ending violence against women and girls under the theme "UNITE! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls".

The tarts fresh out of the oven. Hurrah!
They look quite happy sitting there, don't they? However, while shaping the pastry to the cups, I began panicking about the pastry cups (and thus the tarts) being too small. Fortunately, the tarts came out a good size.
When AI tailors social media information in a pandering way, does it lead to the formation of filter bubbles, making it difficult for people with different standpoints to understand each other?
This work aims to explore whether AI is exacerbating social divisions, when faced with the dilemma of exploring and exploiting humans, through a self-media video—an AI interactive video system that can switch narrative perspectives based on the audience's emotions—and a play-within-a-play technique.

ALEXANDRIA, VA: National Center for Missing & Exploited Children: December 2022 Board Meeting ( NCMEC 2022 Claire Edkins)
I was at the first ever Terminal City Tabletop Convention in Metrotown on a recent weekend and had an absolute blast.
One of the highlights of my day there was also one of the first things I did. TCTC had a Proto-Alley, showcasing prototypes of games that will soon be published, if all goes to the designers plans.
The first one I tried was "For Greed or Glory", a global domination game of controlling interests around the world, as well as battling national armies, or sending in your own private mercenaries.
It was a lot of fun to play, with some really, really clever mechanics. Your political figure moved on an outside track, gaining power over nations, while your armies moved on the global map, gaining and spending cash for your leader.
I'll do a full write-up of my experiences on my blog soon, but this was a good one, a definitely worth checking out when it hits Kickstarter, planned for late 2014.

I didnt want to be exploitative here, but the way the beggars behaved in Taipei was very different than the US. I only saw 3 the whole time I was there. There is an extreme humbleness, they bow and assume a very low position. The sad part was all the beggars I saw were handicapped. I wonder about their social safety net in Taiwan? It was so striking and emotional, they way the few beggars I saw acted, which is why I took this image. I didnt feel I could explain it properly without it. I am sure the Taiwanese are acclimated, though.
For the record, I put a bunch of money in his dish.
