The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s (NCMEC) Hope Gala held on Sept. 14, 2023, at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. The event is a celebration of the inspiring work being done globally to protect children. We recognized leaders in child safety, honor survivors, and remember the families and victims who are still seeking justice and safety. Every child deserves a safe childhood. Claire Edkins/NCMEC

Around five thousand vegans march through Central London, from Hyde Park to Parliament Square, in a protest organised by Surge, The Save Movement and HeartCure Collective calling for an end to animal exploitation and to promote veganism as a healthy, compassionate way of living.
From this photographers point of view the event was a pleasure to shoot, with a friendly and very noisy crowd carrying mostly self-made banners and wearing some great - and sometimes truly hideous - costumes.

And this is the mixture.
I had great difficulty settling on a recipe, because every single one I found online varied down to the ratio and inclusion of certain ingredients. In the end, I compiled the various lists of ingredients, studied their proportions, and drafted my own.
Flour, suet and sugar were used in the ration of 10:4:3. Currants, lemon rind (which I'll probably do without the next time), and as much milk as I deemed necessary. Pinch of salt. I also added quite a bit of cinnamon - an ingredient no recipe I found online included. Which probably makes mine unauthentic. But ah well. :D;; 'sides, I was never much a follower of recipes.

NCMEC’s signature fundraiser is more than a night of celebration—Hope Gala is a powerful call to action for children. Every story shared and every dollar raised brings us closer to a world where every child is safe.
For more than 40 years, NCMEC has led the fight to protect children, support families, and bring hope to those impacted by abduction and exploitation. The evening united survivors, advocates, law enforcement, and leaders from across the country around one goal: protecting childhood.
I have more fun in the morning, watching Leo try and hunt the squirrels and birds out near the feeders.(the operative word here is "try"......if I see that he's anywhere close to really nabbing something I quickly intervene)
I always make plenty of noise when I open the door to let him out. Sometimes I will actually yell out loud "Look out everybody, here come's Leo!"
Here he is on the fence, trying to sneak up on an unsuspecting squirrel......I yelled at him, the squirrel bolted, and I got a look here like "What the HELL is wrong with you? I almost had that one!!!"
