El río Duero antes del periodo de lluvias bajaba con un menos caudal del habitual, pero con las últimas lluvias ha subido bastante, más parece que estemos en primavera o en época de deshielo. Los puntos de referencia para saberlo son los restos del antiguo puente que aparecen en primer plano y que suelen utilizar las aves acuáticas como posadero. Al fondo asoma el puente de Piedra y los edificios que conforman parte de la ciudad.
Before the rainy season, the Duero river had a lower flow rate than usual, but with the latest rains it has risen a lot, it seems more like we are in spring or in the thaw season. The reference points to find out are the remains of the old bridge that appear in the foreground and are often used by waterfowl as perches. In the background is the Stone Bridge and the buildings that make up part of the city.
Avant la saison des pluies, le fleuve Duero avait un débit plus faible que d'habitude, mais avec les dernières pluies, il a beaucoup augmenté, il semble plus que nous soyons au printemps ou au dégel. Les repères à découvrir sont les vestiges de l'ancien pont qui apparaissent au premier plan et sont souvent utilisés par la sauvagine comme perchoirs. En arrière-plan, le pont de pierre et les bâtiments qui composent une partie de la ville.
Vor der Regenzeit hatte der Fluss Duero eine geringere Fließgeschwindigkeit als gewöhnlich, aber mit den letzten Regenfällen ist die Fließgeschwindigkeit stark gestiegen, es kommt uns eher so vor, als wären wir im Frühling oder in der Tauzeit. Die Anhaltspunkte, die es zu entdecken gilt, sind die Überreste der alten Brücke, die im Vordergrund erscheinen und oft von Wasservögeln als Sitzstangen genutzt werden. Im Hintergrund sind die Steinerne Brücke und die Gebäude zu sehen, die einen Teil der Stadt bilden.
This photo was taken just two weeks before the shot I showed you yesterday and is only about 1 kilometer away from this spot. At that time there was no sign of winter.
Here, too, I was out and about in the Dresdner Heide early in the morning, always looking towards the sun that had just risen to see whether I might be able to discover special light formations between the trees.
As I passed a narrow lane between the trees, I was suddenly faced with this sight. I immediately had the association of a drawing room from an old castle, with a thick green carpet and a chandelier on the ceiling. A ballroom for the animals of the forest, where they can meet the forest elves for a chat or a little dance.
Dieses Foto entstand nur zwei Wochen vor der Aufnahme, die ich Euch gestern gezeigt habe und ist nur ca. 1 Kilometer von dieser Stelle entfernt. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt war von Winter noch keine Spur.
Auch hier war ich früh Morgens in der Dresdner Heide unterwegs, immer den Blick in Richtung der gerade aufgegangenen Sonne gerichtet um zu sehen, ob ich vielleicht besondere Lichtformationen zwischen den Bäumen entdecken kann.
Als ich an einer schmalen Schneise zwischen den Bäumen vorbei kam, stand ich plötzlich vor diesem Anblick. Ich hatte sofort die Assoziation von einem Salon aus einem alten Schloß, mit dickem grünem Teppich und einem Kronleuchter an der Decke. Ein Ballsaal für die Tiere des Waldes, wo sie sich mit den Waldelfen zu einem Plausch oder einem kleinen Tänzchen verabreden können.

Ich versuche jeden Tag nun meinen Spaziergang zu machen. Und obwohl es oft die gleiche Runde ist (zw. 3 und 6,5 km) gibt es immer wieder was neues zu entdecken.
Der Vorteil ist auch, wenn man an einem Tag ein Motiv sieht kann man es am nächsten noch ein klein wenig besser machen. Gestern hatte ich das hier schon einmal fotografiert, aber es fehlte was. Heute kam dann das bestellte Auto vorbei.

The advantage is also, if you see a motif on one day you can make it a little better the next. Yesterday I had already photographed this, but something was missing. Today the ordered car came by.

I considered a while, if I should post a coloured or a monochrom version of this photograph of mt. Raubschloss in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. Here You can see, how I finally decided. To compensate that, I created another perspective with colours. I'm going to show this one on another day.
When I arrived up here on that morning, it was still quite dark and the rock was hardly to see. But what I saw, were the headlights of two photographers facing me. When You zoom into the frame, You can see them right on top of the rock.
We made light signs to welcome each other and were happy (I was definitely really happy like a child) about the reactions from the other side.
A really cool experience, what will for ever be connected with this photograph.
Ich habe lange überlegt, ob ich dieses Foto vom Raubschloß im Elbsandsteingebirge farbig oder monochrom darstellen möchte. Ihr könnt ja sehen, wofür ich mich entschieden habe. Als Ausgleich dazu hab ich noch eine andere Perspektive in Farbe erstellt. Die zeige ich dann ein anderes Mal.
Als ich an diesem Morgen hier oben ankam, war es noch ziemlich dunkel und der Felsen war kaum zu sehen. Allerdings konnte ich die Stirnlampen von zwei Fotografen entdecken, die mir direkt gegenüber standen. Wenn ihr ins Bild zoomt, könnt Ihr sie ganz oben auch sehen.
Wir begrüßten uns mit ein paar Lichtzeichen und freuten uns (als ich hab mich auf alle Fälle gefreut wie ein kleines Kind) über die Reaktion der anderen Seite.
Ein richtig cooles Erlebnis, was ich für alle zeit mit diesem Foto verbinde.

Like a large family next to the road, waiting for the bus. This were my spontaneous thoughts, when I passed this group of trees.
Here you see one of those subjects what found me, without me looking for it. This discovering and letting myself be surprised is, what I love most at photographing. I'm walking around aim- and planless, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere around me and feel, how the calmness is more and more infiltration me and taking possession of me. Meanwhile my head is permanently moving from one side to the other for assimilate everything nature want to shot me.
Wie eine große Familie die am Strassenrand steht und auf den Bus wartet. Das waren meine spontanen Gedanken, als ich an dieser Baumgruppe vorbei gekommen bin.
Ihr sehr hier wieder eins der Motive, welches mich gefunden hat, ohne dass ich danach gesucht hätte. Dieses Entdecken und überraschen lassen liebe ich beim Fotografieren am meissten. Ich wandere völlig ziel- und planlos herum, geniesse die friedliche Atmosphäre um mich herum und spüre, wie die Ruhe immer mehr in mich eindringt und von mir Besitz ergreift. Währenddessen schwenkt mein Kopf ununterbrochen von einer Seite zur andere hin und her um alles aufzunehmen, was die Natur mir zeigen möchte.

Meine erste Waldohreule in freier Natur - und das fast mitten in der Stadt Halle. Sie saß auf dem Nachbarbaum, einer Birke, neben ihrem Baby. :)

Die Waldohreule (Asio otus) ist eine Vogelart, die zu den Eigentlichen Eulen (Strigidae) gehört. Sie ist eine der häufigsten Eulen in Mitteleuropa.
Aussehen
Die Waldohreule hat mit einer Körperlänge von etwa 36 cm und einer Flügelspannweite von 95 cm etwa die Größe eines Waldkauzes. Sie ist jedoch wesentlich schlanker als der Waldkauz und mit einem Gewicht von 220 bis 280 Gramm (Männchen) bzw. 250 bis 370 Gramm (Weibchen) erheblich leichter. Auffallende, große Federohren kennzeichnen diese Art. Die Federohren haben keine Funktion im Zusammenhang mit der Hörleistung der Eule. Zur Verstärkung der Hörleistung dient vielmehr der bei der Waldohreule auffällige Gesichtsschleier. Die Iris der Waldohreule ist leuchtend orangegelb. Das Gesicht wird durch eine auffällig hervorstehende Stirnbefiederung geteilt. Die Flügel sind relativ schmal. Das Gefieder der Waldohreule ist auf hellbraunem bis ockergelbem Grund schwarzbraun gestrichelt und gefleckt. Die Hand- und Armschwingen sind deutlich dunkel quergebändert. Allgemein überwiegen bei den Weibchen dunkle, rostbraune Farbtöne. Die Männchen sind dagegen in ihrer Grundfärbung etwas heller. Die Färbung des Gefieders dient der Tarnung; ruhende Vögel im Geäst sind kaum zu entdecken. Die Augen werden durch ein oberes und ein unteres Augenlid sowie durch eine Nickhaut, die das Auge bedecken kann, geschützt.

This species is a part of the larger grouping of owls known as typical owls, family Strigidae, which contains most species of owl. The other grouping of owls are the barn owls, family Tytonidae.
The scientific name is from Latin. The genus name Asio is a type of eared owl, and otus also refers to a small eared owl.
Description
The long-eared owl is a medium-sized owl, 31–40 cm (12–16 in) in length with an 86–100 cm (34–39 in) wingspan and a body mass of 178–435 g (6.3–15.3 oz).[3][4] It has erect blackish ear-tufts, which are positioned in the centre of the head. The ear-tufts are used to make the owl appear larger to other owls while perched. The female is larger in size and darker in colouration than the male. The long-eared owl's brownish feathers are vertically streaked. Tarsus and toes are entirely feathered. Eye disks are also characteristic in this species. However, the eye disks of A. otus are darker in colour or rusty-orange. This nocturnal species is perhaps most easily seen perched in a tree in its daytime roost, sometimes in small groups during the winter months. There are about six thousand long eared owls in the United States, and fifty thousand in the whole world.
Rhabarber - rhubarb (Rheum rhabarbarum)
Recently, for the first time in my life, I saw a rhubarb blossom, in fact in my garden. I wasn't expecting anything like this and was very impressed. This spontaneously reminded me that I started the "Hidden Beauties" series last year and it's time to continue.
What you see here is just a small branch of a flower spike that is almost 50 cm high, while the individual flowers are only 5 mm in size. So you really need a lot of them. I wrestled with myself for a long time whether to show the whole panicle or just a small part. In the end I decided on the close-up, because it is rare enough to discover this flower at all and it is even more unlikely to get so close to it.
Vor kurzem habe ich das erste Mal in meinem Leben die Blüte eines Rhabarber gesehen und zwar in meinem Garten. Ich hätte nichts dergleichen erwartet und war schwer beeindruckt. Das hat mich spontan daran erinnert, dass ich letztes Jahr die Reihe "Versteckte Schönheiten" begonnen habe und es Zeit ist diese fortzusetzen.
Was Ihr hier seht ist lediglich ein kleiner Zweig einer Blütenrispe, die fast 50 cm hoch ist, während die einzelnen Blüten nur 5 mm groß sind. Es sind also wirklich viele davon nötig. Ich habe lange mit mir gerungen, ob ich die ganze Rispe oder nur einen kleinen Ausschnitt zeige. Am Ende habe mich dann für die Nahaufnahme entschieden., denn es ist schon selten genug diese Blüte überhaupt zu entdecken und noch deutlich unwahrscheinlicher ihr so nah zu kommen.

The area behind the famous Toadstool Hoodoo offers beautiful photo opportunities in the late afternoon light. Unfortunately, it was too late to explore the more interesting hoodoos above the rock face illuminated in the picture. So there is still something to discover for later trips.
Die Gegend hinter dem bekannten Toadstool Hoodoo bieten im späten Nachmittagslicht schöne Fotomotive. Leider war es zu spät, die interessanteren Hoodoos weiter oberhalb der im Bild angeleuchteten Felswand zu erkunden. So bleibt immer noch etwas für spätere Reisen zu entdecken.

It was my first time in the Bisti Badlands in New Mexico - a very beautiful, deserted and wild landscape - wonderful for hiking and exploring. You should definitely have a navigation system with you if you want to find your way back to the parking lot in the dark. This is hardly possible without a GPS signal.
Ich war zum ersten Mal in den Bisti Badlands in New Mexico - eine sehr schöne, einsame und wilde Landschaft - wunderbar zum Wandern und Entdecken. Man sollte unbedingt ein Navigationssystem dabei haben, wenn man im Dunkeln wieder zurück zum Parkplatz finden möchte. Ohne ein GPS-Signal ist das kaum möglich.

Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah Wilderness Study Area is a little known region of fantastic eroded rocks in the high desert of northwest New Mexico.
It's now 15 years since my visit there and I just discovered pictures from back then that have neither been edited nor shown anywhere.
After hours of hiking in the sweltering heat, I discovered a lot of completely untouched nature in complete solitude, a perfect place for meditation.

The landscape of La Palma is dominated in the north by the Caldera de Taburiente. The northern edge of the caldera is completed by the Roque de los Muchachos (2,426 m), the highest peak on La Palma.

No bridge in sight. At least where I took the photo in winter ... But walking with the camera always brightens my mind. There is so much to discover ;-) Like here, for example, the fine traces left by the reflection of the trees and clouds in the moving water of the pond. Psychedelic inspiring, isn't it? ;-)

Keine Brücke weit und breit. Jedenfalls dort, wo ich das Foto im Winter gemacht habe ... Aber das Spazierengehen mit der Kamera, das hellt mein Gemüt immer wieder auf. Es gibt so viel zu entdecken ;-) Wie hier zum Beispiel die feinen Spuren, die die Spiegelung der Bäume und der Wolken im bewegten Wasser des Teiches hinterlässt. Psychedelisch inspirierend, oder? ;-)

I always find it nice to discover these small plants that find their place to live everywhere. It doesn't matter if a flower breaks through the asphalt, the birch grows from the rain gutter, or like here...just a little bit of grass in the shade.
Ich finde es immer wieder schön, diese kleinen Pflanzen zu entdecken, die überall ihren Platz zum Leben finden. Egal ob eine Blume durch den Asphalt bricht, die Birke, die aus der Regenrinne wächst, oder wie hier...nur ein bisschen Gras im Schattendasein.
Grass is perhaps on of the most unremarkable plants that I know. We see it almost everywhere and because of that we hardly are noticing it anymore. But in moments like this, when the sun is creating an aura of light around the blossoms, suddenly its full of magic and beautiful.
To see things in the right light is a phrase, what has importance not only in the field of photography. We all give the final meaning to the things around us and to our own experiences by the way we are looking at them. There is so much magic, there are so many miracles hidden around us and inside of ourselfs. It is worth searching for the right light and the right perspective, to discover as much of them as possible.
Gras ist wahrscheinlich eine der unscheinbarsten Pflanzen die ich kenne. Wir sehen es fast überall und nehmen es somit kaum noch wahr. Doch in solchen Momenten, wenn die untergehende Sonne eine Aura des Lichts um die Blüten erschafft, ist es plötzlich voller Magie und wunderschön.
Die Dinge im richtigen Licht zu betrachten ist eine Formulierung die nicht nur in der Fotografie von großer Bedeutung ist. Wir geben den Dingen um uns herum und denen, die wir selbst erleben, erst die wahre Bedeutung, durch die Art wie wir sie betrachten. Es ist so viel Magie, es sind so viele Wunder um und herum und in uns selbst verborgen. Es lohnt sich nach dem richtigen Licht und den richtigen Blickwinkel zu suchen, um so viele von Ihnen wie möglich zu entdecken.

This sandstone figure, the result of erosion, is about 40-50 cm high and very easy to miss, because it works only from this side and from below as in the picture. To photograph it like this, the camera must rest on the ground.

In 200 Jahren werden Expeditionen auch auf den Uranusmonden Miranda und Ariel Relikte der La-Kimesh entdecken, was darauf hindeutet, dass sie das Sonnensystem vor Millionen von Jahren mehrfach besucht haben.

Ein Ausflug nach Wien
Alle, die keinen Urlaub machen können, mögen mich auf einer Runde durch Wien begleiten. Vorbei an den berühmten Sehenswürdigkeiten, aber vielleicht auch abseits Sehenswertes entdecken ...
Am Rand des Burggartens, nahe der Albertina, befindet sich ein um 1826 errichtetes Palmenhaus. Um die Jahrhundertwende abgerissen, entstand ein vom Jugendstil beeinflusster Neubau. Heute befindet sich im linken Flügel ein Schmetterlingshaus, im rechten Flügel ein Gewächshaus der Österreichischen Bundesgärten und der mittlere Teil wird gastronomisch genutzt.

On the edge of the Burggarten, near the Albertina, is a palm house built around 1826. Demolished at the turn of the century, a new building influenced by Art Nouveau was erected. Today, the left wing houses a butterfly house, the right wing a greenhouse of the Austrian Federal Gardens and the middle part is used for gastronomy.

Sobald der Eisvogel fliegt ist er sehr schwer abzulichten weil er so schnell ist. Er gleicht das aber netterweise aus wenn er gelandet ist. Dann sitzt er ziemlich still und erfreut den Fotografen mit vielen verschiedenen Posen z.B. während er versucht neuen Beute zu entdecken. Bei so einer Gelegenheit entstand diese Aufnahme.
Um das Bild besonders detailreich sehen zu können, drückt die Tasten l (kleines L) und F11. Beim vergrößern nur durch Anklicken gehen viele Details verloren.
Once the kingfisher flies it is very difficult to photograph because it is so fast. He kindly makes up for it when he's landed. Then he sits pretty still and pleases the photographer with many different poses e.g. while trying to spot new prey. This image was made on such an occasion.

Diese Schmiedeneisen-Ornamente sind ein Detail vom Michaelertor. Dieses barocke Prachttor ist Teil der Wiener Hofburg.

These wrought iron ornaments are a detail from the Michaelertor ('Michaeler Gate'). This magnificent Baroque gate is part of the Vienna Hofburg ('Imperial Palace').

Walking through the streets and alleys in Siena is a lot of fun – as far as I can remember ... You can discover many special features. Like this petrified lady behind the curtain for example ;-)

Today in Cologne the last concert of the group "RUNRIG" takes place as part of their tour "The final mile".
The band was founded in 1973 on the Isle of Skye. I'm really looking forward to this concert.

Heute gibt die auf der Isle of Skye in 1973 gegründete Band "RUNRIG" ihr letztes Konzert in Köln im Rahmen der Tour "The final mile". Ich freue mich riesig auf dieses Konzert.

Every time I cycle along the Weser, I experience the river like new. The pictures are similar, but there is always something different to discover.
Jedesmal wenn ich an der Weser lang fahre, erlebe ich den Fluss wie neu. Die Bilder gleichen sich zwar, aber es gibt immer wieder was anderes zu entdecken.
In the current heat outside, I prefer to stay in the cool house ... and scour old hard drives. At the same time, I always come across pictures that I think I like to think back to.
So, a good 10 years ago, I started looking for a beautiful little arch that lay in the area around Kaibito in Upper Kaibeto Canyon. Finally, due to an drop-off of several meters, I lacked the technical equipment to reach the Arch, which was only about 30 meters away.

Bei der aktuellen Hitze draussen halte ich mich lieber im kühlen Haus auf...und durchforste alte Festplatten. Dabei fallen mir immer wieder Bilder auf, an deren Entsehung ich gerne zurück denke.
So machte ich mich vor gut 10 Jahren auf die Suche nach einem herrlichen kleinen Felsbogen, der in der Gegend um Kaibito im Upper Kaibeto Canyon liegen sollte. Letztlich fehlte mir wegen eines Abgrunds von mehreren Metern die technische Ausrüstung, um zu dem nur ca 30 Meter weit entfernten Arch zu gelangen.
