I must confess that I know nothing about fire engines, but came across this Commer example at an auction in Cambridgeshire around fourteen years ago, not sure if it went for scrap or preservation, hopefully the latter as I don't recall seeing many of this type in service.
SpaceEngine - A free space simulation program that lets you explore the universe in three dimensions, from planet Earth to the most distant galaxies. Areas of the known universe are represented using actual astronomical data, while regions uncharted by astronomy are generated procedurally. Millions of galaxies, trillions of stars, countless planets - all available for exploration. You can land any planet, moon or asteroid and watch alien landscapes and celestial phenomena. You can even pilot starships and atmospheric shuttles.
Looking like a mill type steam engine this heavily built reciprocating engine initially ran on town gas but was converted to run on heavy oil.

Engine 205 is a 2017 Seagrave Attacker HD rescue engine which will replace the 2008 Pierce Saber PUC. She is slightly larger than the standard engine layout due to the rescue equipment setup. Unlike the rest of the "200" series engine companies, E205 is fully staffed by 4 firefighters and runs independently of Truck 5. All the apparatus at Station 5 run independent of each other due to the unusually high volume of calls in their district.
Technical specs:
2017 Seagrave Attacker rescue engine
2000 gpm pump
500 gal water
20 gal Class A foam
40 gal Class B foam
Holmatro extraction equipment
Paratech Struts and cribbing
Medical equipment

On the drive back from Timaru today, drove past these Beautiful creations. The Burrell Traction Engine. On the way to the Tractor Show in Ashburton, I guess.
San Jose Fire Department made a Tier 2 response plus a CalFire medium response to a grass fire covering several acres on Hellyer Ave in South San Jose. The CalFire response included multiple engines, dozers, Copter 106 and 2 air tankers.
In late June 2012 San Jose Fire Department put 6 new fire engines on the road, including this one, Engine 3. These rigs are built by Hi-Tech EVS on 2011 Spartan Gladiator chassis. San Jose has received Engines from Hi-Tech in various orders ifrom 1992, 1998, 2009 and now these rigs. Internally at San Jose they are known as the Fourth Generation Hi-Techs.

If you visit enough Poundland stores you may well find quite a different selection of Matchbox on the pegs. Most have 2023 Case B but you can also find batches from 2021 too in long cards sourced from the Far East. One such branch had Case C in from that year and although most of the good castings had gone I was tempted enough to grab a couple of these Hazard Squad Fire engines.
Generic in design but entirely credible in styling this casting remains popular despite now having its entire body made of plastic.
Mint and boxed.
He is real after all...
As part of Finn's birthday celebrations, we went out west of Auckland to the Glenbrook Vintage Railway on Saturday for their twice annual Friends Of Thomas festival.
Megan really only stumbled across it two weeks ago and everyone was very sceptical about the quality of the trains. To be honest we were expecting them to have paint an engine blue and stuck a cardboard face on the front of an existing engine.
However, their Thomas was absolutely brilliant and looked like the real thing. Meg, Nana and Granddad took Finny for a ride in him whilst David marvelled from the side of the tracks at how much work these dedicated amateurs do to put on such a great event. Not sure how the licensing works over here but the whole thing cost nothing if you just wanted to walk around and look at the trains. The kids all loved it.
Bravo. A credit to New Zealand.
Took the family up to Auburn Heights, DE yesterday. They have this mini steam engine that runs on tracks around the estate. The kiddies had a blast
