The steam engine by "Haslam Foundry & Engineering Co. Ltd. Derby England" produced electricity for the whole factory, for light, the machines, for cooling of the 12 storage rooms 5 cooling cellars, where they were able to store 180000 carcasses and 850000 tons of final products. The basic element for cooling was ammonia. The begin of the 20th century was called the British industrial revolution in Patagonia. - Former sheep meat plant in Puerto Bories - Patagonia, Chile, partially abandoned

This Ransomes Sims and Jefferies Ltd steam engine was made in Ipswich, England in 1924. Here it is on display at the annual Steamfest in Sheffield, Tasmania.

An overview of Lehigh Valley’s Bethlehem Engine Terminal reveals a variety of power in various states of readiness. As an SW1 leaves the turntable and heads out to work, two RS-11’s are on one of the turntable tracks, and the cab of an RS-3 can be seen in the servicing area. Farther out on the servicing tracks, a set of C420’s is being reconfigured, while a Reading/B&O power set is on the ready track. This power came in on train NE-84, and will take NE-87 to Potomac Yard after it arrives in the Lehigh Valley.

Heading home for the night. This is a coal fired engine on the Narrow Gauge line in Portland Maine. It operates year round taking visitors along the shore of the Eastern Promenade. Phone snap while walking the trail.

But it was quite sophisticated for it's time !

The steam engine has been built by Maschinenfabrik "Märky, Bromovsky & Schulz", Königgrätz.
Former engine house, now a mining museam at Burra Mines, South Australia. Copper was discovered at Burra by shepherds in 1845 and by the end of the decade it had its own mine, smelters and a population of 5000 people. The mine produced high grade copper until 1877 when falling world copper prices and the high cost of running the mine resulted in it being closed. It is now a heritage place of interest open to the public.
89 FMC 1000 GPM, 1000 Gal. tank. Hoping to replace this engine in the very near future. It's been a work horse for many years!

The train was built in May of 1950 by Norfolk & Western. The train was used to carry passengers from Virginia to Ohio and from the western parts of the Commonwealth to West Virginia. It is the sole surviving member of the fourteen Class J locomotives.
In 1952, it was one of the locomotives that pulled Dwight D. Eisenhower’s presidential campaign train from Columbus, Ohio, to Kenova, West Virginia. Now, the steam train is owned and operated by the Virginia Museum of Transportation, Inc., in Roanoke.

Out for a bike ride into town today and manged to arrive just in time for one of Nene Valley Railways brilliant steam engines at Orton Mere. Pleased to see it smoking with a few suitably placed clouds in the background.

The locomotive was built by the Avonside Engine Company in 1924 for the Staveley Coal and Iron Company and is now in their livery. It finished its working life at Cranford ironstone quarry in Northamptonshire.

What a beautiful piece of machinery! All motorbike enthusiasts will recognise this as twin cylinder 998cc Vincent engine, probably dating from around the late 1940s. I spotted the bike in Looe, but it had a couple of seriously ugly metal pannier boxes on the back, so I decided not to photograph the whole of it. I suspect it could be a B series Rapide, dating from 1946 onwards. The HRD name was apparently dropped in 1950 to avoid confusion with the American Harley Davidson (HD).
