1920s beauty with stained glass and lots of floral interest

A rather sinister appearance but very much eyecatching in the shaded garden zone.

Before I had even entered Point Lobos State Natural Reserve south of Carmel, California, I spotted this this graceful stalk of Briza maxima, better known as rattlesnake grass or large quaking grass. I read that this may be the earliest grass cultivated for ornamental rather than edible purposes. No wonder it caught my eye! What does its shape and design remind you of?

Created for the Smile on Saturday theme, EYE-CATCHING. Edits were done in iPhoto (to clone a B/W copy) and Microsoft PowerPoint to overlay the images.

A colourful abstract design using overlapping lines and squares.

A cloudy day at the local botanical gardens really let these flowers pop against their dark leaves. I don't know what they are called.

728 This is called sound sculptures. Ink drops are placed over a speaker and "dance" according to the sound vibrations. With highspeed photography is possible to freeze each moment and see how every music is shown to our eyes. In this case, i used Bad Blood from the british band Bastille.

The reflection of me in Tasku's eye shows just what she often sees me doing, crawling around on the floor trying to get her photo. She must think I'm weird - no comments on that necessary :o)

Pseudo HDR from three files pulled from the RAW at 1EV apart and processed in Dynamic Photo HDR with "Eyecatching" tone mapping. View large:View On Black

This shot is a bit of a departure from my normal "realism" kind of landscapes. I had toyed with HDR and tone mapping before, but wasn't fond of "pushing" the toning and saturation. But this image wasn't giving me the drama I wanted with normal processing - what with a pretty mundane sunrise and all - so I tried this method and sorta liked the result...

From the 4-Js excursion to Fort Amherst...

I'm not good at scary or spooky and I I have no sympathy for Halloween, so nearly didn't do this one. Anyway, I stocked up on some chocolate eyes in case the neighbours' kids ring my doorbell.

The sky was quite wonderful on this day.

She was uncommonly calm. Usually, her leg never stops moving, just like her head, which never stops thinking and coming up with new ideas.

When she got home from work and took her shoes off, she couldn't help but wonder how she had managed to stay in a 9 to 5 job for so many years.

The thought does not leave her mind as she walks to the kitchen and fills a glass with water that she had left on the sink in the same morning.

Her phone rings, causing her to forget about the theme for a moment, and she picks it up while pulling a cigarette and lighter from the pack.

- "Hey." She says this while walking around like a zombie and tossing the pack of cigarettes on the counter. While a male voice on the other end of the line speaks, she draws circles on the carpet with her big toe while leaning against the open window. She was hesitant and answering with monosyllables. "I'm really tired," she says as she takes a deep breath and holds the smoke inside her lungs.

"I don't care. See you in 25! ".. The phone was hung up on her before she could respond. She quickly exhales a smoke breath. She enters the bathroom, rests her arms on the sink, raises her head, and rolls her eyes at herself in the mirror. She was cursing everything and everyone that came to mind.

She washed her teeth while attempting to multitask by washing and shaving her armpits, causing her white loose tank top to become wet.

She rinses her face, as she needed to feel slightly fresher, and brushes her hair with a large comb, completing with her fingers.

She gets a pair of washed jeans, a clean basic but deep cleavage top, and a short leather jacket while sipping from the same glass.

She finds some coins in her jacket pocket when she looks in the mirror after her significant effort in getting herself ready, and she remembers the 9 to 5 situation, losing her smug expression.

When the doorbell rings, she dashes to fetch her cigarettes pack and opens the door while stuffing the pack inside her pocket.

She says, "You're earlier."

"Shut up!", exclaims the guy dragging her out of the house by her arm.

The door shuts.

She had forgotten about the 9 to 5 situation yet again.
