ENG: One of the children playing at the "Rau du Pouhon" rivulet looks amazed at the play of light reflected from the sun on the surface of the water, which seems to be strewn with diamonds. A photo that reminds me of the nice hike in the neighbourhood of Xhoffraix - Malmedy (hike MDY03): forests, water, shadow, plank paths, sun: everything that kids like during a hike seems to be present.
NL: Een van de spelende kinderen aan het stroompje "Rau du Pouhon" kijkt verwonderd naar het lichtspel van de weerkaatsende zon op het wateroppervlak dat bezaaid lijkt met diamantjes. Een foto die mij herinnert aan de mooie wandeling in de buurt van Xhoffraix - Malmedy (wandeling MDY03): bossen, water, schaduw, plankenpaadjes, zon: al wat kids leuk vinden tijdens een wandeling, lijkt aanwezig.

Une photo qui me rappelle la belle randonnée au départ de Xhoffraix - Malmedy (randonnée MDY03) : forêts, eau, ombre, passerelles de bois, soleil : tout ce que les enfants aiment pendant une randonnée semble être présent.

Habitat:Urbane strøk, veikanter, avfallsplasser, gressletter.Andalusia og store deler av Middelhavsområdet inkludert Nord-Afrika. Fra kystområder til høyfjellet.
Galactites tomentosa er en av de vanligste tistel-artene på Costa del Sol og Andalusia forøvrig og en av tistel-artene som blomstrer tidlig, ofte allerede i februar. Den er vanlig langs veier, i urbane strøk, avfallsplasser og gressletter. Det er en robust plante med kraftig opprett tykk stengel og tett bladverk som gir den et buskete utsende. Bladene er innsnevret nesten helt inn til stilken og har kraftige stikkende gulfargete pigger. Bladene er gråhvite innerst og mørkegrønne ytterst. Bløte lyse hår på undersiden. Stengelen har vinger, mest nederst.
Først kommer bladrosetten som minner om en dekorativ julestjerne. Stengelen er glatt og gråhvit. Mange sidegrener med enkeltstående blomster eller i klaser. Blomstene, ca 2-3 cm i diameter har vakker farge ofte i flere fiolette toner fra lys innerst til mørk ytterst. Hvit eller blekfarget forekommer. Blomsterhodet er mere avrundet og flatt enn hos de fleste andre tistel-artene og minner om blomstene hos knoppurt-artene (Centaurea). Blomsten utvikles til et frøhode med frø på en lang fnokk som flyr med vinden. Ettårig. I Almeria-området finnes en slektning som er mindre (10-50 cm) , Galactites duriaei.
