A student demonstrates his team's project, "A Device for Hands-Free Home Urine Testing," sponsored by Joeseph Gyekis. The team designed a device that could be installed in patients' homes that could collect a urine sample while allowing the toilet to function as normal. The team included Alex Ortega (ME), Srdan Kalaba (BioE), Chris Ignozzi (ME) and Michael Malizia (ME).
In 2012 at the beginning of may I was shooting the crocus blossom there. In 2013, after a very warm april (following on a very cold march), there were cowslips and bavarian gentians. Nature moved forward rapidly with the warm weather.

For our day in port at Ravenna, Mike and I booked a walking tour that featured some of the city's most famous attractions. After visiting the Basilica of San Vitale, Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, Piazza del Popolo, and Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi, we made our way to Dante's Tomb.
This photo offers an interior view of Dante's tomb, including the sarcophagus containing the great poet's remains, a bronze wreath that marked the sixth centenary of Dante's death, and a hanging oil lamp that burns olive oil sent annually from Florence. A nearby informational placard provided details on the mausoleum and its interior, as well as the adjacent courtyard. Following is the excerpt on the tomb and its interior details:
Tomb of Dante
Dante's Tomb was built in 1780 by the Ravenna architect Camillo Morigia at the behest of cardinal legate Luigi Valenti Gonzaga. The temple stands on the site of an earlier 15th-century building, commissioned by the Venetian podesta Bernardo Bembo, which replaced the original votive chapel built for Guido Novello da Polenta, lord of Ravenna, after Dante's death on the night of 13th-14th September 1321.
The interior houses a sarcophagus containing Dante's bones. The Latin epigraph carved on the front was written in 1327 by the poet Bernardo Canaccio. The bas-relief of Dante above the sarcophagus was sculpted by Pietro Lombardo in 1483. In 1519, when Pope Leo X authorized the transfer of the poet's bones to Florence, the monks of the nearby Franciscan monastery stole them away and kept them hidden for centuries. They were rediscovered by chance in 1865 and placed in the sarcophagus where they still remain. The bronze and silver garland at the foot of the sarcophagus was donated in 1921 to commemorate the sixth centenary of the poet's death; on its right is placed the votive refined ampoule made by the Trieste sculptor Giovanni Mayer and offered in 1908 by the Municipality of Trieste. The lamp hanging from the ceiling burns olive oil from the Tuscan hills which is offered every September by the Municipality of Florence.

The Stinger for Scarlet and Epic Cameras is a fully balanced shoulder mounted rig perfect for those long shooting days. The rig features our Studio Baseplate for Scarlet and Epic Cameras. This baseplate features our Rod Riser with 4.5” rods. The Rod Riser provides the correct rod height when using a matte box or follow focus with the Scarlet and Epic. Rods also run out of the back of the plate to hold the shoulder pad and counterbalance weights or batteries mounted on our Zwiss Plate for counter weight. On each side of the baseplate there is also a set of 15mm lightweight holes. The side rod ports holes take 15mm female rods that are locked via an Allen screw. This gives users virtually unlimited mounting options such as mounting a Zwiss Plate with professional batteries off of the side when shooting on a tripod for better balance, creating a cage configuration, or mounting Zacuto articulating arms, an EVF Mount, rods and more. The baseplate has standard ¼” 20 and 3/8” 16 holes on the bottom for mounting the rig onto a tripod. The Stinger includes our Shoulder Pad with 7” rods and a Z-Lite 7lb counterbalance weight for a fully balanced in-line rig. The more balanced and less front heavy the rig, the longer you can hold it without arm fatigue. You can slide the counterbalance weight forward and backward on the rods for custom comfort. This rig can be used on your left or right shoulder. With the shoulder pad and counterbalance weight coming directly off of the back of the baseplate, the rig is perfectly in-line and ready to be used with one of our EVFsfor traditional ENG style shooting. You can mount your EVF to the side of the rig using our EVF Standard Mount Kit. This rig is compatible with any 15mm lightweight standard accessories. The Z-Focus would be a great add on accessory if you are looking for a follow focus.

Herbaceous Flower Borders at Buscot Park Gardens, Oxfordshire, England. These borders are nicely enclosed on one side by a tall wall and by shelter from shrubs on the other side.
The borders here are not purely herbaceous but also contain a few roses. In addition, the yellow leaved small trees placed at regular intervals are the golden form of the Indian bean tree, Catalpa bignonioides 'Aurea’. These are replacements for the golden foliaged Robinia pseudoacacia 'Frisia' - which were originaly planted along the whole length of these borders (but unfortunately they suffered from die-back problems, causing the eventual loss of the trees).

Frankfurt war einst eine der größten Fachwerkstädte Deutschlands mit engen Straßen und Gassen und wurde von Goethe daher etwas verächtlich als „unser Nest“ bezeichnet. Viele Fachwerkhäuser und historische Steinhäuser verschwanden im Laufe der Zeit bzw. fielen den Bomben im 2. Weltkrieg zum Opfer. Im Mai 2018 wurde das Dom-Römer-Projekt abgeschlossen (besser als neue Frankfurter Altstadt bekannt), mit dem die 7.000 Quadratmeter große Lücke zwischen dem Römerberg und dem Dom geschlossen wurde. Auf diesem Areal hatten sich hauptsächlich das Technische Rathaus im Stil des Brutalismus und der Archäologische Garten (eine riesige Grube mit antiken Mauerresten) befunden. Während der Bauzeit von vier Jahren wurden etwa 200 Millionen Euro in den Wiederaufbau/Rekonstruktion der zerstörten Altstadthäuser investiert und vom 28. - 30. 9. 2018 finden ein Altstadtfest sowie die feierliche Eröffnung statt.
In den verwinkelten Gassen der neuen Altstadt stehen 35 Häusern, darunter 15 originalgetreue Rekonstruktionen und 20 Neubauten mit angenäherten Formen, die Platz für Wohnungen, Geschäfte, Restaurants, Cafés und das Struwwelpeter-Museum bieten. Originalteile aus der früheren Altstadt, zum Beispiel Konsolsteine, hatte man nach dem Krieg aus dem Schutt geborgen und jetzt wurden sie beim Wiederaufbau verwendet. Außerdem wurde viel von dem für Frankfurt typischen Mainsandstein verbaut und in einem der Häuser hatte man ganz dezent den Eingang zur U-Bahnstation Römer untergebracht. Als meine Fotos entstanden, sah alles noch sehr neu aus, aber sobald sich etwas Patina gebildet hat, wird dieser Eindruck passé sein. Die Befürchtungen, es würde ein Frankfurter Disneyland entstehen, sind allgemein verflogen.
