While traveling to the Stokksnes peninsula located in Southern Iceland, we came upon this impressive mountain emphasized by steep slopes and a widest spectrum of natural colors.

Thank for your comments.

Autumn in Kyoto, Japan

Another version of this image was posted earlier where the women and their kimonos are emphasized against a muted background.

Thanks for viewing.

I must have looked ridiculous, lying flat on my belly to get the shot. Thankfully, there weren't many people about to have a laugh.

I cropped some repetitive sky and bridge off to emphasize the lines.

Kinkaku-ji "Temple of the Golden Pavilion"), officially named Rokuon-ji, lit. "Deer Garden Temple"), is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan.

The garden complex is an excellent example of Muromachi period garden design. The Muromachi period is considered to be a classical age of Japanese garden design. The correlation between buildings and its settings were greatly emphasized during this period. It was a way to integrate the structure within the landscape in an artistic way. The garden designs were characterized by a reduction in scale, a more central purpose, and a distinct setting.

A minimalistic approach was brought to the garden design, by recreating larger landscapes in a smaller scale around a structure.

It is designated as a National Special Historic Site and a National Special Landscape, and it is one of 17 locations comprising the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto World Heritage Site. It is also one of the most popular buildings in Japan, attracting a large number of visitors annually.

This was given the panoramic slice to emphasize the power of the horizontal planes in this photograph. There is a stronger sense of the clouds coming at you in this version than the earlier non-panoramic version.

Detail of the virgin Mary statue behind the high altar. A special design feature is the window behind the Madonna's head, the window acts as a halo, an effect emphasized by the golden rays emanating from the window.

St. Maria (St. Mary) is a Wallfahrtskirche (pilgrimage church) located in Thalkirchen, in the south of Munich. The church was built in Gothic style around 1390, replacing a Romanesque predecessor. The steeple still has some late Romanesque features. In 1693-1698 the church was converted to Baroque style, the appearance of the Madonna with the windew behind is a Rococo work by Ignaz Günther dating to 1759-1769.

The Church of the Intercession on the Nerl, a UNESCO world heritage site.

When you write and say about this temple, usually cite the words of Igor Grabar, "the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl near Vladimir is not only the most perfect temple, created in Russia, but also one of the greatest monuments of world art".

The temple was erected in one year in 1165 by Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky.

In the days of his "youth" the temple looked different, and the hill-a pedestal, is the work of human hands.

The underground part of the temple is 5,30 m . At the mouth of the Nerl rose artificial hill, which has become the pedestal for the Church of the Intercession and protect it from the treacherous waters of the spring. The hill was covered with a shell of white stone slabs with gutters and stairs leading down to the Marina.

The proportions of the temple are unusually graceful and beautiful. Often this temple is compared with the image of maiden Here everything is directed on achieving maximal effect of slenderness and height. Many parts, subtle, very delicate, emphasize the vertical axis of the construction.

Basilica San Vitale is one of the monuments of Ravenna and an important example of Byzantine art in Western Europe.

Construction on the church began in AD 527 and was completed in AD 548 during the reign of Emperor Justinian. The building is known for the best preserved Byzantine mosaics outside of Constantinople. The founder of the mosaics was probably the Byzantine emperor Justinian the Great, who wanted to emphasize the power of the state by building a temple.

The church, unlike a typical basilica, was erected on an octagonal plan with niches.

Church of St. Witalis is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

It's been such a long time since we've had a genuine pea soup fog around here and on Sunday we were blanketed all day. I was finally persuaded to get my camera out of the bag after almost a year and it was the thick fog that did it.

I know many people like cemeteries for different reasons. I like them because they demonstrate an important and inevitable aspect of the life cycle. It's also because reading the inscriptions makes me wonder about what made up the life of the one who has shuffled off this mortal coil.

Graveyards are generally peaceful places and deliberately designed to be so. The fog seemed to emphasize that peace as well as a kind of timelessness, so there, in the quiet, I couldn't help but think while the people buried there may have finished with this life they are certainly busy in their next one--another part of the cycle.

Thus, the great hope: life goes on.

Meanwhile, it has started to drizzle and the desolation and gloom of the western coast of the island are emphasized by this.

The devastation of the sea since the island was returned to nature becomes clear here.

The sea has mercilessly struck back here and recaptured what humanity has taken from it.

The large chunk in the foreground is not a piece of rock, but a large piece of the bottom of the salt marsh that has been torn off the sand by the fiercing waves.

Along the line of the surf during high tide there are also pieces of the former salt marsh, but these are further crunched at high tide and stronger wind. On the side of the piece in the foreground you can clearly see the remnants of the root systems of the former vegetation....

some re-interpretation to emphasize the rocks and sky

It is the presence of milky fog that allows me to control the scenography here and emphasize the depth of the scene.

For a separate the foreground and theatrical backdrop as much as possible.

With a closed aperture, which is necessary here, this can be done with only a few tricks.

For example, in cinema we used pyrotechnics - the effect of smoke and spotlights.

in general, I am satisfied with the result of the picture, given that it is from a boat that rocks and floats with the current, and the stream moves along the bridge. A kaleidoscope in one word, changing rhythms every second..

Used vignette to try and emphasize the open sky in the middle to make it look more centered to where the person is standing . Cant remember the camera settings on this one .

A tree I have walked by a thousand times and never saw a motive in it. Before the sun came up, I took the first pictures. This shot was taken in portrait format to emphasize the foreground a bit more.

A more closer look of "Pattern" (see first comment box). The texture reminds me of stone, so I did some processing to emphasize that.

The paper I used is 'glassine', which is great photogenic paper because of its translucency.

"An image with high contrast will exhibit a full range of tones from good to evil, with dark shadows and bright highlights. Typically, high contrast images will enjoy strong, bold colors and textures will be emphasized. You might think of them as being deep and interesting."

«Taking possession of space is the first act of every living thing, men and animals, plants and clouds, an elementary manifestation of balance and continuity. The occupation of space is the first proof of existence ».

(Le Corbusier - emphasizing the relationship between architecture, sculpture and painting)

The relevance of this thought is well added to works of art, by the Spanish artist Mariangeles Guil Làzaro, in the square in front of the Court of Gela. The environment influences the work as evidenced by the play of lights that re-proposes the Mediterranean culture giving us the idea of ??palm trees and fireworks typical of patronal feasts.

Guil's work is made of ferrous materials, iron is galvanized. Huge and tall colored iron plates with different shades: from green to orange to yellow; from blue, to green to red. Huge colored rays, a range of colors that rise upwards, towards the sky, as if to represent a liberating act: of peace, serenity and hope. The same artist who speaks of fires of light, a light created with the use of color that gives life and vitality to the work. Guil's works break the monotony, the silence of a space that is mainly lived inside. Color gives life to this space.

Five locomotives power the eastbound train that is about to cross the Thompson on a truss bridge and dive directly into a curved tunnel in the heart of this rugged canyon.

Minimalist photography

is a form of photography that is distinguished by extreme, austere simplicity. It emphasizes spareness and focuses solely on the smallest number of objects in the composition process. Minimalist photographers usually focus solely on one particular subject, rather than an abundance of color, patterns and information. ( wikipedia )

I love learning new stuff in photography, and some techniques requires allot of time to learn and understand..... witch I have a hard time to do . This is minimal as can be ( I think)

While I was working with the holly berries I noticed that the theme for Crazy Tuesdays was "Red" and that got me thinking of a shot that really emphasized the red color of the berries. I tried a few different things but with each series of shots I moved further down the rabbit hole in my study of making larger and larger focus stacks. This grouping of berries measures about 1.75 in. wide X 1.5 in. tall, but has about 1 in. of depth and the leaf is on the diagonal making for a tricky focus stack. I tried a few different techniques but finally decided to bite the bullet and try something I've been thinking about. Instead of marking the front and back focus on the lens and then turning the focus ring a bit for each exposure I would take shots wherever I wanted fine detail in the final image. The technique involved shooting every detail and edge for each berry and leaf and led to way more individual shots (31 in total). I was surprised that it worked out pretty well with fewer areas to fix in post. This shot is the result after aligning, stacking and processing in Photoshop.

{Monologue of Nature}

After a long absence, here I´m to present to you a set of images and the first one is this "Monologue of Nature". Every component within this picture talks to himself: the clouds, the reflection the sun, the color tones, the waves and rocks.. just a permanent monologue that give us a theatrical scene and a complete story emphasizing the creativity of the author ..

In 2010 we had a pretty cold winter. The Wadden Sea with its interesting structures is always interesting for me. I think the ice emphasizes these structures.

I took this picture with my old D70.

Valley View also known as the Gates of The Valley with its stunning views of Bridalveil fall, the Cathedral Rocks and the Merced River. I choose this spot due to the lack of clouds in the sky. I knew I wanted to emphasize the fall, the Cathedral rocks and the Merced River in my frame.

I can almost hear the tune, "The Moon River" as i glaze on this image. What song or tune do you hear the scene humming?

It was somewhat comical and yet actually endearing to see these five Hoatzin lined up like this at a creek near the lowest part of the renowned Manu Road in Peru. The repetition serves to emphasize their unique appearance. The range of the Hoatzin encompasses the basins of the Amazon and Orinoco rivers and some tributaries in north-central South America.

I have found this abandoned kitten in a bramble bush.

Its stare emphasized fear. It do not know that have found a family.

Welcome Simba!

This little lady landed on a sunflower in my garden. It's a good thing that I always have my camera nearby! I cropped this image a bit to emphasize the butterfly. Isn't she pretty!

More fun with Spring showers and rain drops. An experimental technique using intentional camera movement with second curtain flash to create a drizzling rain effect. I felt that monochrome better emphasized the atmospheric quality and drops. Does this effectively create a sense of movement with the falling rain? Happy Monochrome Bokeh Thursday!

"'Climate crisis' or 'Earth overheating' are more precise terms. They make the cause and urgency of the problem clearer. In other policy areas we are quick to use the term 'crisis' - euro crisis or refugee crisis - but avoid it when we talk about the fundamental distortions of our planetary system. That says a lot about the political importance of the various policy areas.”

The journalist Journalist Ross Gelbspan pointed out the sufficient scientific knowledge as early as 1997 and emphasized:

“The climate crisis is no longer about scientific questions. The fact that the future rate of increase in warming has not yet been determined - or the effects in different regions - is politically and socially immaterial. Science has long since told us what we need to act.

I constructed this pair composite from images I took in 2021. I usually don't make a big deal about emphasizing copyright protection and enforcement but this unfortunately needs to be emphasized especially for my composite work.

Sunrise. Very long exposure of 686 seconds with a "proprietary" composition in an effort to emphasize just the sky and the sea. It was taken at Bellevue Beach north of Copenhagen and yes, you have seen the jetty before from a different perspective. I had decided to get up to try and catch blue hour but alas, my brain did not want me to get out of bed that early. Instead, I managed to force myself to catch golden hour.

Not that much to say about this one, except that I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, with the sun first below the horizon and then watching it rise above it. Simply a stunning experience, which was further emphasized by the complete silence; except for 3 more people (who were all there to simply enjoy the sunrise), I was completely alone. No traffic on the otherwise busy road behind me either.

I was a little worried that I might catch the sun in the shot when it rose above the horizon but besides the very bright light to the right in the image, I had managed to turn the camera away from the direct sun. I was also spared of any flaring.

I used 11 stop ND filters and a reference shot to help me calculate the exposure time using PhotoPills. I had to take the exposure down in post processing and I think that was because the sun came up above the horizon far quicker than I had anticipated and hence there was a lot more light than when I started the long exposure.

Oh, and in case you are wondering: The land you can see in the distance is the coast of Sweden.
